FIRST TIME WATCHING: X-Men '97 S2E4

When X-Men aired in Japan in the 90s they did their own opening credits and commercial bumpers... the animation is SO GOOD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rSw4Xl5qfs

finally we get a good version of KANG after they fumbled him so poorly in Loki and Quantumania... and Jonathan Majors fumbled his own career and life.

Nat...please don't say I'm one of your favorites. 😁

Taking both of Rogue’s men out is CRAZY 😭 Gambit died in episode 5 last season so they hit us a little earlier this time and like… heartbreaking but Magneto BETTER come back, this is a comic universe idk how you do it! 😂😭 The giant, six-eyed being that speaks to Apocalypse is a Celestial. Seen before in GotG and Eternals, they’re huge ancient beings with the power to shape the cosmos. This one believes that evolution can only come from destruction, that only the strong survive and new life shall spring from the rubble, etc - and he bestows his power into Apocalypse to basically be a constant force of destruction across time Charles going full savage and dragging Apocalypse afterwards 😭 like you just killed bf!!!

for me my favorite X-man is Kitty Pryde she has had one of the best ongoing storylines from new student when first introduced to being part of some of the best story lines like Day of future past and God loves man kills, in the original pilot for an x-men cartoon she was the original audence surrogate but when the idea was revived they replaced her with Jubilee who was newer and more prominent with the X-men as Kitty had left the team in comics by then when the oringal show started and Kitty was on the england based team Excalibur. she was also the first of Wolverines many surrogate daughter figures and he trained her to be a ninja. Like later surrgate daugthers like Jubliee after her in comics and this show and Rogue was in the films and of course even his actual daughter Larua but Kitty was the blueprint. She was also cited by Joss Whedon as part of his inspiration for the characterization of Buffy. Joss would later write X-men and bring and adult Kitty back to the team as a new Teacher at the school and eventually she was even Head mistress. also another buffy tie in to Kitty in a later animated Series X-men Evolution has Kitty and Rogue Dancing and the Dance is modeled of one Buffy and another character do in a later season with Kitty standing in for Buffy. long and story Kitty is way more important in X-men history than alot adaptations make her seem. Also Nat Kitty is also Jewish. she also finally cam out as BI despite years of hints and it being the orignal intent of her creator Chris Claremont but he was block from doing to at the time because of the censorship in comics at the time which is ironic for someone called Pryde.

Idk if you made the connection but the big thing that was talking to En Sabah Nur before he became Apocalypse was a Celestial. You saw one of those in Eternals. Although I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t remember because I barely remember anything about that movie lol

I don’t know if it was super apparent but Rama Tut is a variant of Kang the Conqueror (He Who Remains from Loki), and the huge guy with 6 eyes was one of the Celestials from Eternals

Weapon X is hairy

A week of bangers, can't wait for backrooms either

Happy Monday Nat. I think everybody really enjoyed your GOW stream yesterday. It was a lot of fun seeing you exploring a new game 😊 Looking forward to more X-Men, Titans and Buffy this week, and seeing what all the fuss is about with Office Space haha. And also sadly today, RIP Sam Neill 😢 A screen giant for so many of us. Would love to finally see you watch Jurassic Park 3 in his honour. Post: Oh my goodness Nat, this episode was too much 😭
