Oh boyyyy, here we go. It's the final season!
Already loving the direction we're headed in and getting to see more from the Eldians living under Marley rule. I'm so intrigued.

None have hit as hard as the season 1 intro song for me lmao, but it fits the vibe of the season going forward Also the wait for season 4 was twice as bad because the final season was split up into parts with YEARS between each, like… the amount of times you saw trailers for “The final season….. PART **” killed me
I feel like it was not as bad as you make it out to be. There was only a part 1 and part 2 (same as season 3), and then final chapters special episodes. And there was only 1 year in between each (again same as season 3). One season per year is a pretty fast turn around all things considered. The only kind of annoying thing was the two special episodes releasing like 7 or 8 months apart but even that is not that long.
Don't worry I feel like we all got Zeke and Reiner mixed up when first watching this 😂
idk if you know this but this season is being handled by a different animation company, mappa. im not entirely sure on the story but i think the demand for attack on titan was just becoming too much. its a show WIT had been focusing on for like 8-9 years, and i think there was some financial troubles they were having and they merged or something, im not entirely sure but mappa took over and i think they did a great job. as you said, the animation for the titans look better. and the last 2 opening songs (technically theres 3 but i think youre only going to see 2) is done by two different bands instead of the one WIT used for the previous 3 seasons. to catch you up on things, reiner and zeke returned from paradis 4 years ago, and in failing their mission to retrieve the founding titan, while losing bertholdt and annie, who we last we saw she was crystalized and being held by the survey corps, marley's position was weakened in the world. that and other countries technology for war had been steadily growing and now the power marley has with their titans is also weakening, bringing about the war. as you saw though, even though they won their most defensive titan, the armored titan, took a massive blow.
Honestly was probably the best time in the show to switch studios too.
The WWII imagery in the intro is not subtle at all. Also, you know... the song is "My War," which is a pretty close translation to Mein Kempf.
