FIRST TIME WATCHING: Attack on Titan S3E58

Hey folks!

Hope you all had a great weekend. We're wrapping up Season 3 of Attack on Titan today, and this episode had me screaming with all the new revelations we're having! We've reached such a satisfying point in this show, and I can't wait to see how the next season unfolds.

Let me know if you think I need to watch the OAD videos that are on Crunchyroll before Season 4 or not. As always, thank you so much for your support here on Patreon. Until the next one, stay golden! ✨

They killed the comic relief, there's no turning back now.

Aww hope you're doing better fitness wise, I'm a few weeks behind, so idk where you're at now. But hey ramble away :D

The ending… god. Flash-forwards always make or break a show 😅

Yes! You realized that Eren Kruger had a future memory, but for your information, that's a huge deal! Without spoiling anything, but all memories that anyone got transferred before was always a past one. There is something special about it being a future memory.

Deep Virk · June 23, 2026

I love that she called it a Future Memory lol

Buckle up

The OADs aren’t available on every streaming service - they’re more bonus content as opposed to essential viewing. I wouldn’t mind revisiting them after finishing season 4 but I think it would interrupt the flow for those who can’t watch along

Yes watch OVAs

I love your rants before videos Nat. Never change. And you did pick up on the fact that Eren Kruger was having a future memory.

Imagine reading the manga on these parts

HE SAID THE THING!!! Significance of the title of this episode is that it shares the name with the whole show, and more importantly it is the name of Eren's titan. The scene is a bit more effective if you know the name of the show in Japanese (Shingeki no kyojin), but it's a great reveal nontheless. Honestly, it is the most flabbergasted I was after a title-drop of any piece of fiction. So yeah, "Attack on Titan" has been "Attack Titan" this whole time.

The show is confusing on purpose and you are keeping up perfectly well. Don't worry. Love these reactions (heart)

C
Corey Hughes · June 22, 2026

Oh, fun fact! In Japanese, the show is called "Shingeki no Kyojin", and Eren officially namedrops the title in this episode, because that directly translates to "The Attack Titan".

K
Kaden P · June 22, 2026

2 things! 1, just a cool fact: "Attack on Titan" in Japanese is "Shingeki no Kyojin," the name of the anime. BUT, "The Attack Titan" is ALSO "Shingeki no Kyojin" !!! So the whole time the series has also been named "The Attack Titan" and nobody realized it until this episode. So cool. 2, the "Titans of the Walls" are not the titans on the island, but the titans the walls are made out of (remember seasons 1 and 2, how the walls are literally made out of Titans). So the Titans in the Walls are MASSIVE like the Colossal Titan. :) Glad you're picking up on pretty much everything though!! Very nicely done

Heh, you unwittingly predicted the name of an upcoming episode.

C
CosmicTransmtation · June 22, 2026

Personally I think the OVAs are essential, especially the Levi one. And considering she loves Levi so much I think she'd like them.

You got it with the 9 titans thing; the only people who can turn from titan to human are the holders of the 9 titan powers. Our Ymir was a mindless titan for over 60 years before she finally ate reiner+bertholdt's friend who had one of the 9 powers.

m
mitchhamilton64 · June 22, 2026

so, the name of the show in japanes, this is if you spell it in english is "shingenki no kyoujin" eren reveals his titan name as "shingenki no kyoujin." its a bigger revelation in japanese but the name of the series is the name of erens ttian. so, yeah, subjects of ymir are the only ones who can turn into titans at all, and the only way to not be a mindless titan is to eat someone with the power of one of the nine. so we have the armored titan, the female titan, the colossal titan, the beast titan, ymir's titan, the beast titan and the attack titan that have been revealed. historia just was connected to ymir's memories for a bit because of her connection to royal blood. so historia is a little more special. levi's backstory i think is a must, followed by the lost girls, mostly annies arc. ilse's notebook is also a good one.

OADs are optional imo. I didn't watch them when they were airing and I still understood what was happening in S4.

A
Andrew Chan · June 22, 2026

Agree with this. OADs is just bonus material. They are not essential. I would rather Nat just get right into S4 rather than waste weeks on these.

O
Oxy · June 22, 2026

I would say, at the very least, watch Ilse’s notebook and the two episodes for No Regrets. But, up to you. They are not essential for season 4 but they are very good. Definitely worth it

M
My Toasty Toast · June 22, 2026

I would argue the Lost Girls trilogy have the most going into season 4 for all of them

smiv · June 22, 2026

"i feel like a fucking bug on the floor" got me dying LMAOOOOOO

M
My Toasty Toast · June 22, 2026

Hi Nat! So excited to get into season 4 my favorite season of the series! Of the OAD’s I’d say the ones worth watching are as follows: No Regrets Parts 1 and 2 Lost Girls Parts 1, 2, and 3 (I would say these have the most weight for S4) Ilse’s Notebook (although I feel this one is less impactful after finishing s3). People in the comments can affirm (or argue) my list.

C
CHRISXGAMESALOT · June 22, 2026

Yes watch the OVAs

D
Dusk · June 22, 2026

Hey Nat! the OADS are important, since they reveal some of the stuff that the show did not have the space to show in the original main narrative. However is 90% better to watch them in their order, we have OADS for s1, s2 and s3... But it would not impact your experience to jump on s4 at all!!! Think of it as more like, if you want a more deep look of everything we saw so far, yes do watch it. But if you want the conclusion first and then explore it, I'd suggest jumping to s4... My personal opinion, dive into the s4 after and then maybe a separated series js for the OADS, but i might be just a lil biased and eager... But whatever you decide is gon be lotsa funs!

Kaden P · June 22, 2026

I've seen AOT 5 times now and stI'll haven't watched the OVAs because I watch on blu-ray instead of crunchyroll, so I can confidently say they are not essential. But I'm sure they are good!! If you watch them it'll give me an excuse to check them out finally haha

C
CHRISXGAMESALOT · June 22, 2026

They are essential!

D
Darryl Low · June 22, 2026

Happy Monday Nat. Hope you had an awesome weekend and enjoyed your party. Looking forward to seeing what happens in the AOT season finale today 😊
