Started watching Nats reactions like 5 days ago from Season 1, can't believe I caught up already😭, if only she could start watching every day, nonetheless I'm excited for her to continue this amazing story✨

rayman · June 26, 2026

The only OVA episodes really worth watching at this point are Levi's (they're incredible, will make you love him more) and Ilse's Notebook for more good lore. Annie's two eps are worth watching as well for more of her character development which might be worth too actually.

Dang well I JUST started watching all of these probably 4 or 5 days ago, I've binged your reactions HARD lol. I am tired but also sad you haven't finished yet LOL. But also happy I get to experience it with you again. It's such an awesome show and I love everything you've been picking up on that I was SOO much more confused watching it my first time lol. Can't wait for Season 4!

You're not ready for S4.... buckle up lol

I love how much you’re actually engaging with the lore and picking up on the intricacies of the story - not that you wouldn’t usually, it’s just always nice to see anime getting appreciated as serious media. And Isayama definitely cooked something special up here

Matt Even · June 23, 2026

Personally, I would not watch the OADs outside of the two titled No Regrets. Those two provide more insight into Levi, and seeing how you enjoy his character, those may be a good thing to watch. The remainder take place in the past and give you some information you have learned through other points in the story. If there was a time to watch them in general, it is now considering they were made with Witt Studios, who has animated the show up until this point, Season 4 was animated by another studio, Mappa. Personally, I would say all or nothing AND now or never for them, going into them knowing they provide backstory and lore.

AirCord · June 23, 2026

I'm surprised that most ppl are saying to skip the OVAs and go straight into Season 4... I agree!!! I didn't watch them until a rewatch of the show, and it was nice to have some "new" content after being a fan for so long!

J
JSP · June 23, 2026

Straight to Season 4 i hope :)

S
Sean Hansen · June 23, 2026

Would much prefer going straight into Season 4! The OVAs are nice and all but it'd be kind of a nasty jump in reverse at this point lol And they aren't critical

D
Dusk · June 23, 2026

[Comment HAS SPOILERS] . . . . Guys, pls correct me if I'm wrong but I've seen a lot saying Connie's village accident wasn't explained but I thought it was implied that since the Beast Titan can transform eldians into pure titans with his scream, he was the one who secretely attacked it.. He doesn't even have to be in his titan form to do it so...? Or am I wrong here 🤔

s
smiv · June 23, 2026

Where have they mentioned his scream power up to now?

S
Simontdk1 · June 23, 2026

The author of Attack on Titan is one single person. And he came up with the story when he was 17 years old, and he began the story already knowing how he would end it. Thus placing clues and foreshadowing perfectly leading to the ending he had in mind whe he was a teen.

I hate Floch. He's such a well written character.

I went through and listed out what episodes in the next season have post credit scenes that weren't just previews if you wanted it. (Season 4) Episode 63 (Season 4) Episode 70 (Season 4) Episode 82 (Season 4) Episode 86

As we go into season 4 I just want to say this has been such a pleasure two watch this with you Nat. Season 4 is such a ride and I'm so excited for you to see it. As ever thank you for an awesome reaction.

after this season there are 2 movies to wrap it up

c
cupsy · June 22, 2026

Gotta say, I'm thrilled we made it here. Not to toot my own horn a little bit, but I remember asking for Nat to watch Attack on Titan in her discord as far back as 2021. And to be headed into Season 4 all these years later, which I believe to be the pinnacle of it all (if you can even believe that) is just so exciting. Some information to note: Lore/Story: For what it's worth, I think you've actually done a phenomenal job keeping up with everything. Moreso than most. The series poses many many many questions for the viewer all with the promise of eventually answering them and well you got your answers, just, kinda very rapidly. These last 3 episodes are overwhelming with information, but I think you've got it all understood. Also you are right, the situation regarding Ragako, Conny's Village has not been explained. OAD's: As many have said, you do not need to watch the OAD's, they are either anime original filler content or a few are cut content that didn't make it in. Season 4 structure: I think it important for you to understand how Season 4 is structured, (and was infamously originally released) so you're not blindsided by it. Attack on Titan: ""The Final Season"" was originally aired as 4 separate parts. The Final Season Part 1 (16 episodes), The Final Season Part 2 (12 episodes), The Final Season: THE FINAL CHAPTERS Special 1 (1 hour), The Final Season THE FINAL CHAPTERS Special 2 (1 hour). Very ironic to call it the final season and have been released over the course of 2 years and 4 parts. As it stands now, Season 4 is 28 episodes, and if you would would prefer, you could finish it all off with the new movie length finale "The Last Attack" which merges the final chapters together.

They look older after a year because, we don’t see much change between season 1 and 3 as it was only 3-4 months.

p
peeps · June 22, 2026

OAD stands for "Original Animation DVD". Basically special episodes that were bundled with the Blu-Ray releases of their respective seasons. None of which are technically essential to the main story. "Ilse's Notebook" is less important with all the information you've received in the last few episodes but still makes for an interesting retrospective watch. "No Regrets" is more about Levi's backstory and is 100% worth watching. "Lost Girls" is based on a short spinoff novel and is actually a good watch going into S4 specifically. "Distress" is a bit of random sidestory that takes place really early in the show and is kind of forgettable in my opinion, it's also a bit loose on the canon as it was completely anime original content. "The Sudden Visitor" is a really strange comedy episode centred around Jean but is still a fun watch.

if you like well thought out shows, you'll definetly enjoy the netflix show, dark!

Michael T. Ford III @ Racial Draft Podcast · June 22, 2026

I think that Founding Titan power (to command Titans) is distinct from the Reiss Family power (to unlock or erase memories). Rod Reiss was able to do that with Eren and Historia, and presumably Historia has some version of the same power. But they didn't have to be Titans to use that power.

Hey Nat, been a follower of the channel on YouTube for a few years now but just recently joined Patreon because I couldn't miss out on seeing your reactions to AOT (it's my favorite show of all-time). I'm really glad I was able to catch up to this point. From here on out the show is in full-throttle. There will definitely be moments like these last few episodes where you're going to get a lot of information thrown at you & it'll be hard to process it all but, like you said, it's a very well thought out show so the majority of your questions will be answered with time. Can't wait to continue watching with yall & see the chaos of this last season unravel from your perspective.

RawrSaur · June 22, 2026

I personally don't think you need to watch the OED's (you can completely follow the story without them), but I do see others argument that it does ehance the overall experience. If you are going to watch the OED's I would watch them before season 4 at least (I don't think they are worth watching after season 4 or during season 4). TLDR; you can skip if you want, but if you want some cool sidestories then I think you would enjoy them.

M
Mike Hell · June 22, 2026

Honesty this show took a long time to click for me, I skipped like 8 episodes in S3 and watched the last 10 along like everyone else but I can say I'm finally hooked. I really want to know what happens if/when they reach the mainland! Also it’s funny you mention Breaking Bad* as being an example of the writers having a solid plan before they started, cuz Vince Gilligan has stated they notoriously had no plan, and it only ended up being so well-received because of solid writing and acting and just the desperation that a time crunch gives you. It’s insane how well-crafted that show was considering they were kind of aimless. *Breaking Bad is an excellent show and worth the praise, however I think Better Call Saul ended up being a superior show (I know it still surprises me!), with better writing and less violence. I will not be taking questions on this opinion…

N
Natalie Gold · June 25, 2026

Haha that’s funny! I never read anything about the making of the show or watched any interviews so that was just the vibe I got from watching it. So crazy

C
CosmicTransmtation · June 22, 2026

I think he's more worried that Historia would lose her freedom and she would be turned into a breeding farm for royal family members. Much like Eren Kruger said of Dina.

C
Corey Hughes · June 22, 2026

None of the OAD's are really necessary for the story, but No Regrets 1+2 are a must-watch regardless. Personally, I'd rather get into S4 sooner than go through all 8 OAD's.

J
Just a little lemur · June 22, 2026

It is not necessary to watch the OADs to jump from season 3 to 4 BUT, the OADs do cover major lore threads that tease things like what's the true purpose of the titans for Hange and Levi to uncover, or deeper character dives as we learn more about Annie, Mikasa and Levi's past amongst other character introspection. It honestly depends on how much you're interested in learning more about these characters, I would honestly argue that they're amazing to watch on your own but not critical to share in videos with patreon, nor do they have anything that you don't eventually learn throughout season 4. You can cherry pick specific episodes if you really want to see stuff like Levi's backstory, but there are also episodes that are much more "filler" and are sweet but are just that. They don't really provide much to the overall mystery or plot. A mixed bag of episodes. Hope this helps inform your decision!

s
smiv · June 22, 2026

as excited as I am to see you get into season 4, I think the No Regrets OAD would be good to watch. It's not necessary but it's some great Levi backstory

J
Jez · June 22, 2026

The OAD's are side stories that explore character backstories and alternate timelines. They are worth watching, to enrich the story and are fun, but not required to understand the main plot. Selfishly, I kinda want you to jump straight into season 4, but if you're really loving the world and want more then the OAD's will give you that. Levi's 2 parter backstory "no regrets" is by far the best 👍

S4 is an absolute masterpiece. And my personal favorite season of television. Can’t wait for you to watch.

m
mitchhamilton64 · June 22, 2026

im in the camp of watching some of the specials, especially levi's and annies. be warned though, each episode is the same length as a regular episode, so dont expect them to be like 5 minute specials. really, none of them are mandatory ot understand but i think theyre genuinely good and an interesting look into the characters, though i wish you saw levis ova before going into part 2 of season 3.

K
Kaden P · June 22, 2026

This has been mentioned before, but you keep referencing "the writers." Attack on Titan has ONE writer, Hajime Isayama. He conceived this entire story from beginning to end. Just wanted to let you know because he deserves all the credit :)

H
Helos · June 22, 2026

You don’t have to watch any of the ova’s to watch S4 their just extra side plot information on certain characters like Levi. Levi has the most popular one where it’s just goes into more detail about his life in the underground and how he joined the survey corps.

m
mitchhamilton64 · June 22, 2026

"Hey... if we kill all our enemies over there... will we finally be free?" is genuinely one of the saddest moments. eren, who fought for humanity for years, who wanted freedom is finally at the mountain of it all, at its peak of what freedom is only to know what awaits him and his people. marley hates them, marley wants them dead, and they will try again until none of them are left. again, nat, writer* not writers. there are multiple writers of the anime for different things but the show is going off of isayama's work from the manga. his first work and might be his magnum opus. the only time eren has used the power of the founding titan was with dina who happened to be in titan form, so thats he reasoning. as for connie's village, there hasnt been an answer as to what has happened. as for floch, when we see he was recruited, he wasnt recruited by erwin like everyone else and erwin was like "yeah, you will most likely die in a few years!" and he was overly harsh because his agenda was he thought there was a traitor in their mix and wanted to flush them out. because he also told people about the information about eren and his basement and having secrets. so i wouldnt be surprised if the ones who recruited floch and others who were there treat it like todays military where they dont talk about all the shitty parts, they talk about the glory and serving your people and all the benefits. i mean, it was flochs very first mission out of the walls and they were absolutely outmatched in a way that no one could have predicted. they were immediately surrounded by titans, 4 of which had intelligence. so yeah, its fair for him to say that he was mislead and shouldnt have joined.

s
smiv · June 22, 2026

it's crazy how much things have changed from the start to now. after the initial attack on shinganshina, eren said he'd kill every single titan, and that was his goal this whole time. But now, the scouts come across a completely defenseless titan, the easiest kill, and eren sympathizes with it and lets it live. He knows they're all fellow eldians. they always believed that getting to the other side of the walls would be freedom, but now they know that it's just enemies. They know that the entire world outside of paradis island wants the eldian race wiped out. There is no freedom for them.

H
Helos · June 22, 2026

[spoiler free comment] I honestly CANNOT wait for your reactions for s4. Everything you commented about wishing maybe this series could've done is there (storywise progression and animation quality). So exciting!!!
