New beat tape out: Sample Dumpster Diving

I’m stoked to let you know my new hiphoppy beat tape SAMPLE DUMPSTER DIVING is out.

(Bandcamp is by far my preferred store, and today, all earnings go to artist)
If you need a link to another platform, holler.

This style is dear to me: slapping, banging, bassy hiphoppy instrumentals.

(I've actually covered three beats on the album on my Patreon: HERE, HERE and HERE!)

You might not believe that this is the music of someone who spent 20 first years of his life (in the 90s) in a little countryside town in the middle of nowhere, next to fields and forests.

However, music was always something that kept me sane there, and back then, mid-90s, I was already listening to De La Soul, Cypress Hill, Soul Assassins, Coolio, Skee-Lo, all kinds of trip hop and so on.

While my jungle and DNB has had much more limelight, this type of music has never left me.

Moreover, it’s become increasingly important to me as I’ve been aging. I almost see I have more to give in this field as opposed to frantic DNB at times.
I’ve found myself enjoying the slower beats much more than ever.

Some of the songs have more of an actual song structure, while some others are more “loopy” – it’s essential for me to create both. I’m actually working on my first-ever release with a rapper, and that EP shall surface next year.

But for now, I hope you like Sample Dumpster Diving.

I’d love to hear what you think of it.

PS: That floppy and its animation (seen on Spotify canvas for example) were modelled in Blender by yours truly.

Always loved hip hop. There’s some nice ninja tune vibes going on 😁👊

Thank you Pete! I appreciate it. Technically I’ve had one release on Ninja Tune, when I remixed Amon Tobin and had the tune on the huge box set they did.

Another one: how transferrable do you see the skills you built in DnB being to something like this? Not in general, obviously it's still music, but I mean in terms of how you design and build out a song

Everything relates to everything. 33 years of making music now, so there's a lot I've learned and than can be applied to anything. I dunno if this answers the question, ha!

Sounds great on my earphones, what sound setup did you design this for though? Edit: I have more questions but accidentally hit the post button. How hard was getting the vocals? Far Go in particular I'm thinking about.

Used some DAWs, some hardware on some…a bit of a mixture!
