[Update] Dark Souls 2: Seamless Co-op - v0.0.5

Hi everyone

This post covers a detailed bugfix report for 0.0.5.

As a quick disclaimer, I am typing this entire Patreon post using speech-to-text software.

Fix a bug where total soul memory was not tracked correctly, causing the shrine of winter to be impassable

in Dark Souls 2, there are three different values relating to your soul count:

1) "Current souls", which are displayed on the bottom right hand corner of your screen.

2) "Total Soul Memory", which is the value that you see inside your character menu.

3) "Cycle Soul Memory", which keeps track of how many souls you have gained, that new game cycle. This resets when you hit the advance to "New Game Plus" option.

In Seamless Co op, I have replaced the function that awards souls to your character in order to make the necessary adjustments to receive souls after death. Like, for example, when you are spectating in a boss fight to make sure you don't miss out on a large quantity of souls.

Unfortunately, I neglected to re implement "Cycle Soul Memory". This is the soul memory counter that is checked when you approach the Shrine of Winter. It does not have anything to do with the total soul memory counter, which people can see, and it is invisible.

I have made the appropriate adjustments to the function and fixed the issue, so now "Cycle Soul Memory" will be tracked as normal. But, unfortunately, it does not retroactively fix the issue with the Shrine of Winter for players who have already reached that stage of the game.

Fix a bug that made items in previously unexplored zones for guest players be invisible

In Seamless Co op, I have to do some very hacky methods in order to make ground items synchronized between your own save and the host world.

I explained these in the previous post for 0.0.4 where I described adding implementation for instanced items for each player.

To summarise it, when you first start a new character in Seamless Co op, every single map will be loaded sequentially at least once to make sure that save data is available for that area so that it can be accessed in online play.

A bug that I did not account for is that some items have bit flags set which indicate that they have not yet been encountered. I treated these flags as if the item had already been picked up.

This has been fixed in 0.0.5 and going forward should no longer be an issue.

Overall

I hope people are enjoying the mod.

I apologise for the slow post for 0.0.5, as I understand it came out quite a while ago now. I'm working on the next update for the mod, which should fix some more issues, including some crashes, and I will make a post in a more timely manner when that comes out. Thank you.

0.0.6 will have significantly more bug fixes, and some more interesting explanations behind them.

As always - thank you for your patience and a huge thank you to all of my supporters <3
