Major update to the mod manager which I'm releasing as a work-in-progress until I know it's fully stable.
The biggest change is a sanity check when installing or uninstalling a mod. The mod manager will now try to detect if a mod install/uninstall will fail before starting to copy files over. This should prevent a mod from being uninstalled incorrectly if you uninstall an RE9 mod immediately after quitting the game.
There's a new feature added to modinfo.ini. You can add an entry ala "MenuPriority = 1" for mod addon, and then that mod will appear higher up in a mod addon list. Mods default to having the value 0. Higher value means higher priority for being up in the list.
There are many other smaller changes or additions to this version, such as mod managing support for Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection and "Animations" added as category for RE9.
Change log:
SF6: Reverted cheeky naming of Alex.
Added mod managing support for Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection.
Improved error handling for failed mod installs/uninstalls.
Fixed a bug which could prevent the "approximate" FPS limiter from limitting the FPS while program was in focus.
You can now control the position of an addon mod in its submenu by writing a modinfo entry called "MenuPriority = 1". Higher number means it'll be higher in the list. This value defaults to 0.
Improvement to log writing that could remove some minor UI stutter.
PEAK: Logo will now be downloaded.
Fixed a bug where the mod manager could ignore files that start with "."
RE Engine games: The "pak_mods" directory no longer gets deleted when all mods are uninstalled.
RE2R/RE3R/RE7: The mod manager will now try to automatically "downgrade" textures when install RT mods to the non-RT version.
RE9: Added "Animations" as category (!Other > Animations)

That would be so nice & amazing! A couple weeks ago I just realized that the most popular og 90s PC RE 1, 2, & 3 mod/patch "Classic REbirth" (now for GOG/Steam too via the "unofficial conversion" patch) does have it's own "Mod Loader" function KINDA... Tho thus far for all its years since release it has only ever allowed just ONE "mod" name at a time to be launched with each game bootup from the user's whole list of any mods detected in the folder lol! So if there could finally be a Mod Manager out there which can manage MULTIPLE MODs/files "installed" at a time into the Vanilla Steam og 90s RE 1, 2, or 3 that would be such a game changer for classic RE trilogy pc players who wish to change their installed mods more than just a one-way install permanent overwrite of files! :D
Has anyone figured out how to get re9 mods to work on steam deck none
I don't have a link ready but I know people have written guides for using mod manager in various Linux installs. If I recall, my troubleshooting guide here on Patreon has a link to such a guide.
Any plans for your Mod Manager to support the og 90s RE trilogy PC releases now that they're on both GOG and now Steam this month? Many mods on nexus/moddb etc. for those classic pc ports residentevil1996, residentevil21998, & residentevil3nemesis have install steps saying things like "before you drop mods into the main folder clicking yes to overwrite many original files, manually backup any base game files you wish before overwriting any install folder files with mods" etc. While 9 times out of 10 there's no reason to revert back a straight up QoL upgrade, costume mods otoh are absolutely the kind of mod which would benefit from some kind of mod manager rather than always backing up & renaming different versions of the same 3d model asset files for switching mod costumes :-)
PC ports of 90s RE trilogy are pretty much the same on Steam vs GOG except on GOG you preselect just ONE of six TEXT-only localizations (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese) to download as the single game folder for GOG (while Steam installation always downloads ALL six text-language localization folders of the game with their parent folder being the Steam unique Launcher & registry folder for said RE game) However PC RE1 1996 never includes Spanish or italian localized versions on either Steam or GOG... Each text language localized RE game folder is 99% the same files as its counterparts too~ Except for a handful of files having country initial suffixes like LeonJ.exe for Japan or ClaireU.exe for USA (or in maximum case of re2Launcher exe being instead named bh2Launcher exe in the Japanese game folder) ...if it's possible for the Mod Manager to support steam/gog pc games where all individual text language localization game folders of the same game can be downloaded/installed by the same steam/gog user?
