Seven Sins System Chapter 902. Poison III
Seven Sins System Chapter 902. Poison III
I closed my eyes. Great. Now she thought I was some kind of pervert.
Fantastic.
I was literally burning my mouth off to save her princess, and somehow, I had managed to make it look like I was taking advantage of an unconscious angel. My reputation really was doing me favors.
“Wrath!”
I ignored her.
Another black strand was almost free, and I wasn't about to release it because Patience had apparently never seen a medical procedure that didn't involve someone waving glowing hands and chanting something dramatic.
The poison twisted.
I tightened my extraction current. Just a little bit more. Then a hand grabbed my shoulder.
“Wrath, stop!”
Patience pulled me away from Puriel.
The connection snapped. “GHH—!”
Pain shot through my throat.
I doubled over, coughing violently as the demonic poison already inside my mouth tried to crawl backward through my channels. I pressed one hand against my chest.
Another cough escaped me. Black mist spilled between my lips. Patience froze.
I slowly raised my head.
My lips were cracked and swollen. Blood stained the corners of my mouth, and the skin around them was covered in tiny burns that my regeneration couldn't repair fast enough. Sweat dripped from my chin, my breathing came in ragged bursts, and my vision was still swimming from the constant clash of holy and demonic energy.
Yeah, very seductive. Absolutely the face of a man enjoying himself.
Patience stared. Her expression changed immediately. “Your mouth…”
“No shit,” I rasped. Even speaking hurt.
My throat felt like someone had shoved a burning sword down it and decided to rotate the blade for entertainment. One tentacle rose from my back. Its tip had already transformed into a syringe. It plunged into my upper arm.
[Internal Toxin Neutralization Activated]
[Foreign Demonic Contamination: 2.4%]
[Neutralization In Progress]
I grunted as cold regenerative essence spread through my veins.
My back arched slightly. Then I exhaled. Long. Shaky. That was better. Not good. Just better.
Patience looked between my face and Puriel's exposed core.
The black veins were noticeably thinner now.
She finally understood. “You…”
“Yeah.” I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand. More blood. “I'm trying to keep my promise.”
Her eyes softened. I hated that look. Not because she was being kind. Because I was already in enough pain without someone looking at me like I was about to die heroically.
I had no intention of dying. Especially not while Dad was still alive to give me a lecture about how stupidly I had died. I gestured toward the door. “Now get out.”
“Wrath—”
“Go kill some time with Asmo.”
A familiar voice came from the doorway. “I'm right here.”
Asmo stood just outside, leaning casually against the doorframe. He raised one hand. Wiggled his fingers. A cute little wave.
I stared at him.
He smiled.
I narrowed my eyes. “Why are you waving like a fucking princess?”
“Because you look terrible, and I thought a little encouragement might help.”
“Your face is discouraging enough.”
He chuckled.
Patience shot him a look.
Asmo immediately raised both hands. “What? I'm being supportive.”
I coughed again.
Both of them stopped smiling.
I pointed toward the corridor. “Out.”
Patience hesitated. “You've been working for an hour. You need rest.”
I stared at her. Then slowly turned my head toward Puriel.
The golden core still glowed beneath her skin. A few black threads remained. Not many. But enough.
I looked back at Patience. “If I stop now, the remaining poison could spread into the threads she just repaired.”
Her expression tightened.
I leaned against the altar, trying to steady my breathing. “It's painful enough already. Please don't make me explain basic magical medicine while my throat is trying to kill me.”
Patience opened her mouth. Closed it. For a moment, I expected another argument. Instead, she lowered her head.
“I'm sorry.”
That was unexpected. I blinked.
She glanced at my burned lips again. “I misunderstood.”
I gave her a tired smile. “Yeah. Happens a lot when you're dealing with a devil.”
Her expression softened. Then she stepped backward. “We'll wait outside.”
Asmo gave me another cheerful wave.
I raised my middle finger.
He laughed.
The doors closed. Finally.
I turned toward Puriel. Her expression remained peaceful, but the faint tension around her eyes told me she was still fighting whatever remained inside her core. I sighed. “Your friends are exhausting.” I lowered my face again. “Now. Where were we?”
[Observation Activated]
[Angelic Core Stability: 68.7%]
[Demonic Contamination: 2.1%]
[Warning: Remaining Toxin Embedded Within Core Fracture]
Two percent.
Just two.
Unfortunately, that final two percent was buried deeper than everything else combined.
I closed my eyes and resumed the extraction.
The first remaining strand came loose after several minutes. It burned. Badly. I felt Puriel's holy power scrape against the inside of my throat, and my entire body shuddered. My tentacle immediately injected another dose of neutralizing essence. I barely noticed the needle anymore.
The second strand resisted. I adjusted my demonic energy. Waited. Coaxed it away from the golden threads. Then drew it into myself.
[Contamination: 1.2%]
My breathing grew heavier. My vision blurred. The altar beneath my hands seemed to tilt. I knew it wasn't actually moving. At this point, I wasn't entirely sure.
The last strand was the worst.
It had wrapped itself around the deepest part of the fracture, clinging to Puriel's core like a parasite that had discovered a very expensive home and refused to pay rent.
I stared at it through Observation. “You stubborn little shit…”
I couldn't pull it. Couldn't burn it. Couldn't destroy it without damaging her. So I did the only thing left. I offered it a better host.
Me.
I opened my demonic channels wider. The poison reacted immediately. It sensed Wrath. Power. A demonic core far stronger than the damaged angelic one it currently occupied. And like every greedy parasite in existence, it went for the bigger meal.
Gotcha.
The final black strand detached. I drew it out. All of it. A violent burning sensation tore through my mouth and throat.
