one of the things i was thinking about while you were talking is the flashbacks in epitaph. when topher interviews for the job mr dominic is the head of security. when mr dominic is put in the attic adelle says that he was by her side for 3 years. that means topher has been there less than 3 years. and when he got there they were spending hours doing every imprint. it seemed like they were just figuring out what they were doing. so does that mean the dollhouse is only a few years old? it seems like it from the pieces of info we have gotten. i nevver thought of topher as having no morals. hes spoken up in several occassions. i think the line for him is just pretty far past where it is for a lot of people.
Another heavy topic, and another great episode. Nolan is despicable. Throwing the pictures in the drawer without even looking at them is the perfect symbol for his feelings towards Priya. She is nobody to him, only something to own. Seeing the chemistry between Victor and Sierra in every personality imprint, and even before she was Sierra, is amazing. And then there's Topher who only wanted to help her but whose help caused a lot of problems. He's a genius who doesn't think about the consequences of his actions.
Top tier episode, not only of the series but just a really great 45 minutes of television. I always marvel at how these action-y, supernatural, sci-fi, "young adult" dramas manage to pull off such dark, mature, legitimately dramatic themes/episodes while remaining within the confines of 90s/2000s primetime broadcast television, not being too explicit with the sex, cussing, graphic visuals etc. Like, that stuff is there but it's pretty tame weighed against modern streaming or premium channels. It really is just good story writing and acting.
"It really is just good story writing and acting." THIS!! I prefer to watch shows and movies that aren't heavy on sex, cussing, violence etc and it IS so good that Dollhouse brings us this gritty and gripping storyline without it being too much of the above. It's SO good!!
