Arcane 2x04 Edited & Full

Maybe this one episode has topped all of Dollhouses surprises 🤯👀 it did take me a beat or two to realise, but I realise now...

I always feel torn because I feel that there's no hope to be found in Arcane, yet I can't help my nature to never give up!

I am trying something new as advised by my doctor - cutting out gluten. We are still trying to figure out what is going on, but it's now day 1 of gluten free and I'm excited to see if there are any changes. I love baking and cooking, so I'll have to whip up some gluten free treats and breads! Anyone else in the same boat? Would love to know any tips or advice!

Who would have thought, that one little word at the end of an episode could have such a tremendous impact? 🤯 There is indeed a time jump between act 1 and 2. So when Caitlyn said: “I never expected this to go on so long”, she was talking about six month. The writers confirmed that. If you look closely you can see that Isha has grown a bit and Salos hair grew longer, but all the adults look more or less the same. Ambessa and Caitlyn accomplished exactly what Mel predicted: Zauns People (especially the young and angry ones) starting to rally behind Jinx, they overcome their division by facing a common enemy. Border posts along the river, putting pressure on Zaun with raids and expeditions, yet no one is willing (or even able) to hand them Jinx over. Only the hate towards Piltover grows. DETAIL: When Caitlyn stares in the dark, you can see her eyelids flutter a bit, to show how tired she is and yet can't seem to find sleep. This insane level of detail, I can never get enough of it...🤩 If you look closer at Caitlyn and Maddie, you can see that their relationship is imbalanced. The intimate and tender gestures and touches and the nuzzling comes one sided from Maddie. While Caitlyn certainly enjoys it, she doesn't reciprocate. Her thoughts are at Zaun and with Jinx. And she has doubts. She questions the way Ambessa handles things, questions herself and her actions. Maddie is a rebound, nothing more or less. Caitlyn has needs and she got lonely (she kicked Vi to the curb months ago, Jayce and Mel have vanished, her mother died, her father a broken man), so she got herself a cute distraction and a warm bed. 🤔 DETAIL: Isha is mute. You can see her use sign language twice. Ishal managed to bring Powder back, in a way! She is the best that could have happened to Jinx. Now Jinx is playful, happy, caring, protective – a wonderful big sister/mother figure, kinda like Vi was with her in better days. Nice little callback to Vis story, how she made up stories about monsters to entertain Powder. Now Jinx makes monsters out of little bugs to entertain Isha, who is so excited and happy. “Scuttle Butt” and “Stink Maw”? It can't get much cuter than that...😍💖🙈 I love how they use mirrors in this show. In episode 1x6 the broken center of Jinx' shattered mirror was directly over her head. Not only that, it centered at her left eye, to insinuate Silcos influence on her. Now, when she looks into the mirror with Isha, the broken center of the mirror is right over her heart. And the colourful childs band-aid that holds the mirror shards together, is right over her head. I see it as: Her broken heart heals because of Isha... 😍 On the right side of the mirror you can see a paper heart with a childs drawing of Isha and Jinx with blue hair on it. Again, they tell whole novels with but one picture...🤯😱 Jinx got herself a little Vi. Isha is tough (see the insanely brave attack at Rictus), first choice in conflict is fight, not run and she loves Jinx unconditionally. She wants to bring her out of her isolation and encourage her to embrace her role as face of the Zaunite revolution. Her evident fear of losing Jinx lets her fight no matter how bad the odds are. She also has some things in common with Powder, like the age, the attitude and the love of tinkering with Jinx' stuff. She is probably exactly like Powder would have wanted to be at that age. With her safety goggles (they seem to be the same type as Claggors), her heavy boots, her bandaged lower arm and with her blue hair, her little braids, the smoke tattoos, the “circus tent” pants and the x on her chest she even looks like the perfect mix of Vi and Jinx. I love this character so much...💖 Isha with Jinx' blue flare and her "eye purple" is so iconic and has the desired effect, people rally behind Jinx, even though she isn't there. That got Isha even an appreciating nod from Sevika. She gets the people, because her own faith in Jinx transfers to them...😊 DETAIL: When Warwick is calm, he has a blue and a yellow eye. Like the two-headed wolf Singed used to "create" him, where one head had yellow eyes and one had blue. Jinx getting touched by her followers is another one of these heartbreaking moments. She hides her insecurity behind a joke (“Here I am, your big fat hero!”). She flinches because she isn't used to friendly gestures anymore. You can hear variations on “Dear friend, across the river” actually twice. At first when her followers thank her and then when Vander remembers Powder. For the first time since forever Jinx gets an impression that she is not seen as a jinx, a problem or a burden, but actually – a hero, a symbol of the resistance...🤔🤯😭💖 Sevika had two calm, but very strong moments in this episode. First, when she stood alone at Vanders statue. She looked at him like she regretted some of her former decisions and tried to apologize silently. And second, when she watched Jinx and Isha reunite in prison, she had such a tender and compassionate look on her face. I didn't know she was capable of such emotions. She really likes those two girls (especially the little one), despite her being the butt of Jinx' jokes...😊🥰

Jinx has never been a leader. These people look up to her. For many people that would go to their head. For Jinx, it grounds her.

Wow what a reveal! You've gone gluten free! 😛 Seriously though, that was quite the reveal at the end wasn't it!? I wonder how much of Vander is actually left? He recognised Jinx, or rather Powder, so there's at least something of him still in there. I can't wait to see where they go with this! I hope your new diet helps with your health Juliette. I don't have any tips or advice, sorry, but I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that you'll see an improvement very soon 🤞💜

I am actually starting to see an improvement, but I don't know if it's just a placebo effect. This new doctor is getting me closer than others in the past, so let's wait and see! With this episode, it was only when he said Powder that the old brain began to wonder... I thought for a moment it was Silco, but he wouldn't call her Powder. I adore Vander... But I also know to not hope for too much 🥲 Have a lovely rest of your week, Neil! Almost the weekend 💜

Yep you got it. That’s Vander, or at least Vander is in there somewhere. I think it took a lot of us a while to truly believe what we were seeing and hearing. We had all mourned him along with the characters. But what is he now and what is left? I think this episode really highlights the idea of the expression, “one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.” Jinx has done some awful things. But she has also fought against those that were oppressing the undercity. And with her last act of sending the gas that was being used against them top side, you can see how certain people may see her as a revolutionary. With the positive influence Isha has had on her, with the support of her community, and now with Vander, you can actually see something positive with her. But is she too far gone and can she be redeemed?

Honestly, it was such a surprise. I was NOT expecting to see him again, alive (I guess he is alive, but in this form) and it really did not register for me for a while. I've missed him so much. I miss what we had in those first 3 episodes... 😕
