When I recommended this show to you months ago, THIS was the episode I was thinking about. It's everything that is wonderful about Ted Lasso.
It really is sooo good 馃槏
That dart game comeuppance is so satisfying! The only thing that I get hung up on: I got curious about that Walt Whitman quote and wanted to find where he said it so I could see how he came to that wonderful "be curious, not judgmental" sentiment. And it turns out that he did not say/write it! I know Whitman pretty well, and I thought it did sound pretty different from the way he normally puts sentences together. It's so fascinating that these fake quotes come about seemingly all on their own and then all it takes is for some people and some algorithms to pick them up and they become "true." more here: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/be-curious-not-judgmental-walt-whitman/ Be curious, not judgmental -- words to live by. I wonder if someone felt that in order for the words to really have the significance they wanted, they simply attributed them to some famous person they thought probably might have said something like it? Anyway: back to the actual episode! -- Wonderful, as always! So emotionally satisfying. And how often do we see people apologize and take responsibility for things that they are embarrassed about? Watching Keeley shift from no, no to yes, I did do that -- it's almost a goosebumps moment.
The dart game was brilliant. I honestly love Ted so much and it was amazing to see him stick it to stupid Rupert (hey, that rhymes!) And yes, "be curious, not judgemental" is a good reminder to us all. I can certainly learn from that, and also the Doctor telling us to be kind. And who says tv rots your brain... it can make us better people 馃槄馃挏
@Juilette - this is a bit off-topic but are you planning on watching An Adventure in Space and Time? If you don't know what it is, it's a movie-length drama released for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary. It tells the real story of how Doctor Who came to be. Maybe you could consider adding it to your movie list. It's really good.
I have put that off as I haven't seen any of the classics and I thought too many references might go to waste. I thought it might be better once I've watched some of the classic episodes. Also, I don't have access to it 馃槶 what are your thoughts?
Anthony Head playing two very different Rupert characters so well shows how good he is. In Ted Lasso he makes you absolutely hate him, and in Buffy we of course love him dearly. I'm with you though, after a Ted Lasso episode I feel the urge to go watch some Giles-centric Buffy to cleanse me of evil Rupert! I have two episodes left to watch and then I'll be finished with season 3. Obviously I won't mention anything here but I can't wait to see what you make of what's to come! Thanks for another excellent reaction Juliette and have a great day 馃挏
Ahhhh Neil, you are almost done 馃槶 are you enjoying it all? I am obsessed. I am even dreaming about the characters. I love them all, except awful Rupert 馃ぃ I swear, they named him Rupert on purpose just to get us. It's really dreadful hahaha! I hope you have a great day ahead, Neil 馃挏馃槉馃悎
"This is ruining my Giles!" It just shows what a great actor he is, to portray someone so loved and then someone so hated.
HE REALLY HAS!! I despise this Rupert so much 馃ぃ
