Arcane 1x02 Edited & Full
Still so in love with this beautiful art! We're meeting a few new faces in this episode (it might take me a while to learn everyone's names!) and I feel like I have a lot to learn, so forgive me if sometimes I'm a little quiet. I'm trying to take it all in as there's a lot going on to hear and see. Loved the ending...
The editing for this one was a little tricky. It got blocked but I think it's mostly a problem due to the music. there's a few copyrighted songs in the episodes it seems, so if I do my best to lower the volume in editing, that might be the trick. I've seen some reactors complain about copyright blocks so maybe I'll have to put a little logo on the screen if I can't manage. I saw another reactor put lines across the footage for Arcane, so at least it's not just a problem on my end!

Sorry if someone else already mentioned this, but if you do end up enjoying the show I highly recommend you watch (and also possibly react to) the “making of” documentary called Bridging the Rift. It’s free to watch on YouTube and is just as well produced as the series itself. You already have an appreciation for the artistry that went into the show and the documentary would only deepen it. It covers everything from the beginning of the series, the beautiful animation style, the music, the sound design, the performances, to the premiere of the first season. You could watch it between seasons since it focuses on season 1 and doesn’t spoil season 2, or save it until you’ve finished the entire series. Either way I think you’d really enjoy watching it. It’s so impressive how much work went into this show. Especially when you see that many of the people behind the series had never worked on a tv show before. Also the music video for the song Enemy by Imagine Dragons (the song from the opening credits) is basically required viewing as far as I’m concerned. It’s animated by the same team that did the series and is almost like a mini-episode itself. It’s also available to watch on YouTube of course. However, if you’re interested in checking it out, I’d hold off until you’re further into season 1 or have finished it completely since it’s spoilery. Glad you’re enjoying the series! I also knew nothing about League of Legends when I first saw it, and I honestly think that’s the best way to watch it. I’m sure the League players love spotting little Easter eggs and references throughout the show, but I liked having no idea about the places some of these characters were heading. It made it a much more enjoyable and unpredictable viewing experience for me, so I’m glad you and some of your other Patrons are getting to experience it the same way.
Oh wow, thank you for letting me know about the Making Of! I probably won't react to it, but I'd LOVE to see how it all was created! I'm in awe of pretty much every single frame. So much work has gone into it, it's just incredible 💜
After watching this, may I say - I love the calm, yet commited and attentive style of your reaction...😊 A little apology beforehand - my comments tend to be a bit long-ish, but I hope they're worth the read...😅 This show is so stunningly beautiful, nuanced and complex, I just love it. Especially the visual storytelling. The creators really took the "show, don't tell" to heart. When you're good at reading faces or reading between the lines, then you're at the right place. The plot is written so tight and seamless, you can't afford to look away for even a second, because everything has meaning and tells you something new about the plot, the characters or the world they live in. For example the introduction of Mel Medarda: From the dialogue we learn that she is a member of the Medarda clan, that is obiously very rich, since she is the richest person in Piltover, but the poorest Medarda. She is looking for the next big thing to put Piltover on the map and prove herself and she thinks Jayces research could be the way to go. But there is more to discover - She is young, beautiful, very tasteful and expensive dressed. We learn that appearance is important to her. We learn that she achieved quite a lot in just a few years (given her age). When she browsed the toymakers gadgets she casually solves a puzzle he describes as a "supreme challenge" - we learn she is smart. She controls the one older councillor with charming him and giving him little presents that massage his ego. That way she has effectively two votes in the council - one scowl at him and he votes as she pleases. Taking a childs toy and sell it as puzzle for "only the sharpest of minds" is such a genius move. If he cracks it, he gets an ego boost - if not, he still likes Mel because she apparently thinks of him as a smart man. Plus it distracts him from the councils discussions and makes him a willing tool in her arsenal. We learn she also is very good in manipulating other people. We learn so much about her in such a short amount of time. You're absolutely right, it was Vi who sent the capsule to the Sheriff. She has Vanders words - "Whatever happens [to them] - it's on you!" - engraved in her mind. She feels that giving herself up is the right (and only) thing to do to at this moment, to save Powder and the others. Plus Vander convinced her not to take the fighting route (like he did and what ended with her parents death). She can feel Vanders uncertainty what to do now and decides to act herself. You can see the exact moment when they talk at the memorial on the bridge, when the look in her eyes changes from fearful to determined. I love your thoughts on Powder - you're spot on. Two little recommendations at the end: 1. Watch the show without longer pauses, that way you remember all the details better and the story will be so much more rewarding. 2. Watch the episodes in threes (no matter how you release them afterwards), because every three episodes are an act of the season. 1-3 are act I, 4-6 are act II and 7-9 are act III. The same goes for season 2. As I said, I love your reactions and I hope you continue them...😊🙌😍
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments!! I am so grateful you're enjoying. I definitely feel more "quieter" with these reactions, as there's so much to listen to and take in and I don't want to talk over too much and miss something. I will try and watch more closer together, and I like the thought of maybe watching them in 3's like you said, maybe one a day for 3 days in a week could work. Is that the same for the second season, too? Thank you SO much for being so amazing 💜
So excited to see the next episode pop up. Sorry about the copyright. All the music in this show is written for the show, one of the reasons this show had a ridiculous budget. I like how this episode showed us another side of the world. We had seen the undercity, but now we get to see the perspective top side. It is interesting to see the good and bad from both sides and how they may intersect. Won't say much more about what is ahead, but ... nope will not say any more. Hope you are having a good week!
Oh wow, I didn't know that about the music! That is HUGE! And so exciting, too! It is great to get a glimpse of how the other people live. It does make me feel a bit sad in a way, I just wish everyone was equal, both in this show and in our own world. It's not been a bad week so far, Joe! Thank you! It's gone very quickly and I've been enjoying playing some Fallout 76 again after a bit of a break. What have you been up to?
I just started uploading Arcane to youtube, and I already had a comment saying season 2 isn't very good 😭 is that the general consensus here, too? I try not to give things like that much thought until I see for myself though, but if most people aren't that keen for season 2 then maybe I'll just react to the first season and we can begin the 13th Doctor after the first season. I'll wait and see how things go but I'd love to hear your thoughts!
I haven't seen this at all, so cannot comment, yet here I am commenting. Because this is the first show I have seen you react to that I haven't already seen, a new experience for me and for that reason alone, I am enjoying it more as I, like you, have no idea where the story is taking us.
