Angel 5x19 Time Bomb

Okay, this episode was a rollercoaster! I love how it didn't really make sense until it finally did. Love a bit of mystery and this one had me guessing and a little confused.

Wes is... Well, he's lost the plot a bit. I feel so bad for the guy. He's not even had any time to process or mourn Fred's loss. I mean, even Angel told him in a previous episode to basically just get over it. We're not all brooding vampires who sit in the dark, Angel 🤣

On a bit of a personal note, it seems it's one thing after another for me. I think I've got either carpal tunnel or some tendon problem as my right hand has been a bit numb for a little while. I got a new mouse yesterday and a wrist strap so I'm hoping that helps! If anyone else has had the same symptoms, please let me know what you did! I think it's from too much computer work and not being in the right position.

I really like how they how they show case Ilyria's power in opening of this episode. After taking out 11 other households, she goes in tosses the Wrath across the room like a toy, the demon that Spike and Angel couldn't do anything to. As Wesley put it, "I doubt this poses a risk to her." The opening also helped to endear Ilyria to us. Even if she did it out of selfish motivations, she saved someone we like. No one else seemed to have any idea how to rescue Gunn. I like how Angel walks up to tell Ilyria off as she's holding up Gunn, and Wesley puts up a hand to stop him and takes over the situation, saying "Yes, great worth. A great debt. You're talking of the debt, aren't you?" His time with her as paid off; he knows how to communicate with her. It's a pity Ilyria had to lose some of her power in this episode. I assume it's because if she's going to join the team, she can't be too overpowered. Though of course it's also a good character arc, Ilyria coming to terms with her loss of power.

I feel like she lost more than some of her power to me from how I understand it she lost nearly all of her power she still has more strength than a human probably more than a vampire even but not nearly the strength she once possessed if only she could have had a body capable of keeping her power in tact against the Wolf Ram and Heart but then again if she was able to keep her power the risk she could pose would probably be impossible to stop let alone control and who's today she wouldn't be or do worse than the 🐺 🐏 and ❤️

Just about to watch the reaction, but in answer to your wrist question. I have peripheral neuropathy which causes similar issues. Your first stop should be a visit to your Doctor for a proper assessment. Apart from that I find things like heat, rest, pain killers if needed, strapping my wrists and also paying attention to posture and movement to all be helpful. Hope you feel better soon. :)

Ahh, Angel: Days of Future Past and full chrono-headfuck. It's hard to believe we've reached Origin and Time Bomb already. This one stands up really well to rewatch. Straightening out all the big ball of timey wimey stuff. Though it powers Illyria down it also keeps us in mind that she's an enemy, her violence and brutality are at the forefront. You can't help but think of poor Wes but there's literally no way to understand all the mental fracturing he went through after Fred's death and destroying that orb. I'm gonna break with tradition and speak (non-spoilery) on the next few episodes. Ep. 20 has quite a tonal shift from everything else lately. Let it come to you on its terms. It's a fantastic episode but could be jarring if watched in the way you've been seeing them lately. And ep.21-22, its always been my preference to watch them back-to-back although others will have different as valid takes.

I don't know if I really SHOULD feel bad for Illyria at the end there as she's slumped on the floor and sapped of most of her power, but I do. I really enjoyed this one. The way we jump back & forth through the timeline, witnessing things out of order, is so cool and makes for such an interesting episode. As for the scene where Illyria kills everyone, even though you know it will be undone, in the moment it was still shocking to see! Great reaction as always Juliette. Sorry to hear that you're having issues with your hand. I hope it'll be feeling better very soon! (My left thumb is basically toast at the moment. Guess that's what 30 hours of rigorous d-pad use playing Silksong will get you!)

Neil!! I've been wondering how your Silksonging is going! Sounds like it might be worth the pain, though 😺 Honestly, I'm over all the ailments. I can't imagine what it will be like when I reach your grand old age though 😋 Put a fork in me, Jerry, I'm done!

As an ex nurse my advice is always, with everything, to consult a medical proffessional who knows more about you. As a general rule of thumb (pun intended) carpel tunnel often causes numbness, tingling and pain affecting the thumb, index, middle, and half of the ring finger. Symptoms are often worse at night. It is caused by the swelling of the median nerve in the wrist. There are some exercises that can help (have a google) but also NSAIDs can help too (Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatorys such as Ibuprofen) There are issues with taking NSAIDs if you have asthma or gastric problems but there are gels such as Volterol gel, Diclofenac gel or Ibuprofen gel which are applied to the skin and therefore do not have the side effects of tablets. I don't know which of those are available over the counter in Australia though. Hope it feels better soon.

Thank you so much!! I am due to see the doctor again in a month or so, so I'll check in then if I still am experiencing it. It's mostly just the palm that is numb, on the right hand which is where I do a lot of my work with the mouse. I'm hoping the new mouse helps and I've also changed a few keyboard settings to minimise movement. I'm honestly getting a bit tired of all these health issues 😭

Thank you, Rick! I suppose it's only natural as we get older but it sure is a pain in the butt 🥺
