Update - 31/07/2023

Hello, and welcome to another weekly update! I hope you all had a nice weekend. Last week I finally received my copy of League of Dungeoneers (a dungeon crawling game, for those of you who don't know it), and I was super excited to give it a go, so Saturday I set it all up, sat to play, and I felt so incredibly lazy to do so that I just got up 15 minutes later after having just flipped through the rulebook without actually playing. I've been having a lot of problems lately when it comes to play anything on my own, for some reason I can't concentrate.

The good news is that all I do is write, basically. I did play the guitar a bit but my head is completely full of all the stuff I need to do so I spend all my free time writing. Which means that I've made really good progress with Ker Nethalas: Into the Midnight Throne! I am only missing the encounter and loot chapters, so as you can see I'm really hyped about this game. I can't wait to play it!

One of the things I'm doing differently is adding a bit more of survival elements to the old dungeoncrawling trope. You need to cook and craft torches and bandages, and the only way to do that is by scavenging the necropolis for anything you find of value, and then setting up camp. Setting camp is a crucial moment, and a delicate one: you must find the balance between how safe you're making your camp (barricading the room and all that stuff), and how much time and effort you spend there preparing things you need, and resting. Essentially, you need to keep an eye on your Exhaustion and don't let it go too high. The easiest way to remove Exhaustion is by taking quick breaks and eating rations, but there are other ways, of course.

Here's some more Ker Nethalas art!

I'm also really eager to test the combat, which on paper really looks like the best combat system I've ever written, especially for a D100 system, which is usually frustrating due to having to roll for attack and parry/dodge. You'll see!

In other good news, Glynn is done with Across a Thousand Dead Worlds and it's all been approved for print! This means that we now must wait for the proof copy to arrive before they start producing the books. I cannot wait to be done with this!

Alan is continuing the very arduous job of finishing Under Ashen Skies, and I'm hoping we'll have the KS up and running during the first half of August. We'll see!

So that's it for this week, I hope everyone has a great one!
