Update - 17/07/2023
Welcome to another update! I hope you all had a great weekend, mine was basically as any other. I'm trying to finish the layout for Warlord Ascendant as soon as I can so I can get the game in your hands, but since it's just tables and more tables it's going slow, as you can imagine. Even so, I think I should have it finished this week. That would mean that I'm only missing ORB's art, but unfortunately even though he's really fast I doubt very much he'll be able to have it all done before the month is over. So in order to get this in your hands as soon as possible, I've decided that I'll upload a mostly artless version here as a placeholder. That way you guys will be able to at least start reading and even playing it!
Last week I added a couple of the new experimental features to Patreon: the store and the community. The store is pretty straight forward, and it allows me to sell my stuff here. I don't think a lot of people will be lining up to buy stuff on Patreon, but it's free and it's there. The community thing is a way of potentially bringing more paid members to the Patreon, which is always great. So far around 40 people have joined the new free tier, so that's a nice start. I already told them that I rarely, if ever, post anything open to everyone, but it's a potentially great way of promoting new releases and that sort of thing, so I'll take it!
Some of you know that I've started working on a new project. I know, I said I'd release a Broken Shores expansion next, but I can't help myself. You know how it goes: I spend a night just spinning in bed without sleeping and I get obsessed with a new game idea, and I just need to take it out of my head. It's like an earworm. I did start working on the Broken Shores expansion and have several pages written already, but this new thing has taken over my life and I'm already 30K words deep into it. I don't want to say much yet because I want to keep it a mystery, but I can tell you this:
- It's a dungeon crawler
- It's dark fantasy
- My idea is to make this the ultimate beginner's dungeon crawler, the one people recommend on those "I'm new to solo RPGs, where should I start" posts. This means that I'm trying to really streamline it all as much as I can, while at the same time keeping it interesting and with tons of character builds. This is still a game I want to play and you know me, I love character development. Character builds revolve around which masteries you pick, and there are 20 of them. You can pick 2+1 (I'll explain that some other time) which means over a thousand potentially different combinations.
- It uses a D100 system (because they're superior, and that's a fact) with ideas taken from Across a Thousand Dead Worlds, Broken Shores, and Riftbreakers.
That's all I'm going to say for now!
Glynn is still working on fixing the big mess Phil made with ATDW. It's going to take him a lot of hours to fix, apparently, which is not what I wanted to hear cause he charges by the hour, but he explained me what he needs to be done and there's no way around it. At least we know that it will be perfect once it's finished!
So this week I'll keep working on Warlord Ascendant and the new game, and that's about it. Lots of things to keep me busy just with these two projects!
Have a great week!
