Update - 27/02/2023
Hello, everyone! Before we start, let's welcome Reliqks to the Order! Thank you for joining! I hope you guys had a great weekend, I didn't do much, if I'm being honest. Continued our D&D campaign on Saturday night, and the rest of the weekend was spent writing, as usual. As you guys saw, I've uploaded the revised version of Sacrifice here on Patreon, but it you haven't, go check it out! It's mostly aesthetic changes, and most importantly, putting together the core rules and the content from the Companion, which should have been part of the core rules from the get go. It also has some smaller additions here and there, but it remains completely compatible with the first version of the game. Once the PoD and PDF versions are up on DTRPG I'll be giving at-cost codes to anyone who purchased a copy of the first version of the book, I don't want anyone thinking this is a quick cash grab. It was purely motivated by the OGL drama, and I'm really happy to have the game without it.
I've been focused on the lore for Riftbreakers; as a smaller game, don't expect pages and pages of deep, detailed lore, but it does need some form of background to understand what's going on. I'm not sure I've mentioned anything about it before, so I want to talk about it now. The game starts with you waking up with no recollection of who you are, or any memories from your past life (yes, I'm going with a cliché, that's how confident I'm about this game, haha). You find yourself within a monolithic labyrinth, but after some exploration and light fighting you get out, having acquired new powers on your way. Fast forward, and you find yourself in a city, where you learn that you're in Kar Helos, the capital of Kaethor. You soon find out that there are many others like you there, people who don't remember anything about their past, and that after having gone through the labyrinth, are now capable of absorbing items known as Hearts. These items grant you a set of magical abilities, which differentiates you from the normal, human population. This is very convenient, because the region is being assailed by Rifts, portals that open to pocket dimensions and start pouring all types of monsters, unless you enter it and kill the Riftlord in order to close it.
So yeah, that's a simplified view of what's going on, and what you will find once you start playing the game! I must say I'm excited to give it a go myself, I've tested the Rift generation and it works well (it's super simple), as well as the crafting and random magic item generation rules, but I want to create a character and start traveling around Kaethor. I first need to finish the game though, not really much to do without enemies and their loot (which is what I need to finish before the game's done).
Last week I was interviewed for Alan Bahr's new podcast, and it was a blast! We discussed solo gaming in general, how I got into designing, and my recent games, so make sure you give it a go once it's up on his show!
So I think that's it for this week, hope you all have a great one!

Will there be randomized exploration in riftbreakers?
The focus of the game is running quests and crafting stuff, but there is randomized travel events and things like that. It's very handwaved though, so don't expect a detailed hexcrawl like in Godshard, or even Sacrifice, this is much more simple. The strength of the game lies on its randomized item creation, the follower rules, and the randomly generated Rifts, which are honestly really cool.
