Party size?
Hello! here I am, with an unexpected poll. I'm trying to figure out the ideal party size for Riftbreakers; since it's heavily inspired by MMOs such as World of Warcraft, my initial inclination is to make it 5. The problem with this is that it might be too many for when you're playing solo. And I'm not speaking of having to control your PC + 4 NPCs, Followers (the party NPCs) in Riftbreakers are more like a passive piece of gear that you can activate to give you some ability. Still, keeping track of 4 extra abilities can be annoying, and also, potentially game-breaking. On the other side, if I limit the party size too much, those of you who want to play with a group would find the balance off, because my goal is to balance all encounters around a closed number of characters.
So that's the question today, should I leave it at 3, 4 or 5? This is full party, PCs + NPCs.

Make it 5, The soloist should know to run when necessary! Also I really enjoy a game with 3 or 4 people as players. Just my personal opinion.
Actually, the problem I'm seeing is that a solo player + 4 followers could actually be overpowered, haha. But yes, I think probably sticking to 5 is best, so that people with friends (you lucky bastards) can play it in a group without artificial limitations.
I figure you should design for four and then let players scale it up and down from there.
With a GM that's very easy, but as a solo player it's annoying to have to be thinking about balanced combats, instead of just being able to run with what you have in the book. I'll see what I can do!
