Update - 13/02/2023
Hello, everyone! How are you doing? How was your weekend? I spent it working, but I did have the chance to continue our D&D campaign Friday and Saturday night, it's being a lot of fun. This is my totally homebrewed game that mixes tons of systems and settings, from 1e to 5e, Warhammer, Symbaroum, DCC, and anything I like and see I can throw into the mix. It's a completely sandbox campaign and right now the players are pursuing a totally new plot that appeared as the result of a random roll I made on a table of city encounters. I had to develop it quickly because it was so out of the blue, but those are the things that make the game really interesting for me as a GM!
As expected, I've been focused on Riftbreakers. It's going slow but steady; I've been working on the questing system, which is done, and now I'm trying to finish the random Rift generation, which should be the core gameplay feature. Rifts are self-contained dimensional spaces that attach themselves to the player's world and start spewing out monsters. Your role as an adventurer is to go in, find the Riftlord, and take it out, since it's the Riftlord's power that anchors the Rift. There are 8 different types of "biomes" for the Rifts, from lava fields to ancient ruins, and each has different details associated with them, such as the type of enemies you can expect to find, or other hazards and things of interest. When it comes to how you explore a Rift, I decided to go with a pointcrawl. I was very close to using a hexcrawl again but I think a pointcrawl makes more sense. It works similar to how Across a Thousand Dead Worlds does, with each area of interest being another point in the crawl. I've just systematized it more though, and it's certainly much simpler, since my goal with this game is to have it all be really streamlined and relatively simple. The goal for the game is clear: fight monsters to get better loot so you can fight bigger monsters. There's room for stories to be told outside of this and I'm adding a few conspiracies and meta-threads to the whole story, but I need that core loop to be fun and quick because otherwise the whole game will be unappealing.
I've also been bombarding Phil with messages about Across a Thousand Dead Worlds, because it's been 3 weeks since he said he was essentially done with the missing chapter. So far I haven't received any response, which is honestly worrying me. He has apparently deleted all his social media and is not answering to the hundreds of backers that are asking about his other KS campaign; as a matter of fact, some of them are writing me to see if I know anything. I really hope he doesn't just disappear without delivering the finished book because that would be absolutely catastrophic. I would release the game no matter what, that's guaranteed, but it would mean we've been waiting since August for nothing, and all the money I've paid him already would go up in smoke. We'll see what happens...
This week I'll continue working on Riftbreakers, as well as on a secret project I've been working on (don't worry, it's not another new game, haha). This secret project will be this month's Patreon content drop, since there's no way I'll finish Riftbreakers on time. I hope it's not too disappointing!
So that's it for this week, hope you all have a great one!

I really hope Phil is okay. I got to play a game with him a long while back and he was a cool guy. Let's hope he reappears soon and is okay. Seriously this stuff is really worrying.
Yeah for what I know he's going through some stuff and that's why I've been really trying to go easy on him, but it's reaching a point were it's seriously affecting my future as a publisher. Let's hope it all works out, and soon.
