Update - 16/01/2023

Hello, everyone! How was your weekend? Mine was spent mostly writing, as usual, but I did have time to play a bit on Saturday night, and continue our D&D campaign. It's fun, but I'm hoping we find a good stopping point soon so we can try something else. I'd like to continue it in the future because this is my homebrew game and it's pretty cool, but I have a ton of games I really want to try, like for example Weird Frontiers, Runequest (yes, I've never played Runequest, I grabbed the books last year and I loved it and now I'm dying to try it out), Hostile, or even continue our Warhammer Fantasy game. You know how it goes, I'm sure!

Before I forget, due to the OGL drama I decided to pause the Sacrifice Game Jam for now. I know quite a few people who had stuff in the works for it so it's really disappointing... At least our very own Derek managed to publish his pamphlet, so go check it out!

Speaking of Sacrifice, I still have no clue what I'll have to do with it. Best case scenario I can keep selling it but can't make any new material for it. If that's the case I'll release a new, OGL-free version as soon as I can, because I really want to keep making stuff for it. The same goes for Path of the Aram Thyr (which by the way, keeps getting updated with new, awesome art, I just haven't updated the file here), I'll remove the OGL and make any necessary changes before releasing it. I'm pretty sure I'll release Godshard before Path.

Godshard is coming along very nicely, I'm confident it will be completed this week. I'll probably be missing a couple of illustrations from Penny, but I think I'll upload it here for you guys as soon as I have it, maybe with some placeholder art. I also think that I might print some physical copies, because it's a cool book and I want to have it properly released.

This last week I also had my first interview in Spanish, and it was really fun! They're really surprised that none of my games have been picked up for translation in Spain, especially considering that (and I just learned this) the Kickstarter for Across a Thousand Dead Worlds was the most successful RPG campaign in Spain, ever! I'm confident some Spanish publisher will sooner or later want to publish it or Sacrifice though.

This week I'll wrap up Godshard, and continue working on my new obsession: Riftbreakers. I revealed the logo last week, so this week let's talk about the premise. It's a bit out there, so I'm not sure anyone but me is going to like it, haha. You play as an amnesiac that wakes up in the middle of a labyrinth, with no recollection of who you are or how you got there. The character creation is made as a tutorial, where you progress through different parts of the labyrinth, earning powers and gear. By the time you're out, you discover a whole town of people like you: nobody knows how you got there, but some have been there for decades. The new world is one of high fantasy and full of magic, and it's constantly assailed by Rifts, which are tears in the fabric of reality that pour hordes of monsters into your new world. Your job is to go into these Rifts, find the anchor (a big-ass monster) and defeat it, so the Rift can close. Mechanically, this game is the tabletop of an MMORPG. You have quests, crafting, quality levels, random loot, and all the stuff you can find in something like World of Warcraft or The Elder Scrolls Online. I'm trying some pretty unique stuff here, and I think it's at least going to be like nothing else out there. Oh yeah, and I'm using a D100 system because everyone knows it's the best and I don't know why I ever stopped making D100 games. You can expect a really high-octane style of gameplay, with tons of magic abilities, super fast combat, and a ridiculous amount of character personalization. And yes, this is supposed to be a small project so don't worry, I'll be done in about a month. And yes, lots of what I'm working on here will be used in Empire Undying as well, so I'm kind of doing parallel game development, haha.

I guess that's it for now, hope everyone has a great week!
