Update - 24/10/2022

Hello, everyone! How was your weekend? This last week has been amazing for the Order, since we have four new members! Entropyrat (who is actually returning to the flock, after having recognized the errors of their ways), Tegan, Jonathan Holen, and Sean Brittingham! Thank you so much for joining!

So as you've probably seen already, I uploaded Companion, Sacrifice's first official expansion. I'm now in the process of getting all the files ready for DTRPG, which is a PITA. My plan is to release both the expansion and core rulebook as PoD at the same time, later next month. Since for now it doesn't look like the Companion will be getting a physical release, Master level patrons will receive an at-cost code for the PoD version, which I think it's like 2 bucks.

My next goal with Sacrifice is to publish a series of adventures. Our very own Imad is writing one, and so is Perplexing Ruins! It should be awesome! I will flesh out this release with a few adventures and things of my own. After reading the plot rules for Twilight: 2000 (found in the recently released expansion), I realized how similar they where to my idea of Active Events for Disciples of Bone & Shadow. Those of you who have been part of the Order for a while will remember them: events that would just pop up while you're exploring, and had several different stages that would organically evolve into the next one if you didn't do anything. I was inspired by MMOs when I wrote those, and I still think it's a brilliant piece of design, if I may say so myself. So since it doesn't look like Exalted Funeral has any intention of actually releasing the Disciples expansion, I am stealing from myself and introducing a simplified version of Active Events for Sacrifice.

Jonathan Holen got me thinking about the faction rules I made for Seekers Beyond the Shroud, and since those were also really cool and kind of system neutral, I will implement a version of them in Sacrifice as well, most likely. I am working on a faction system for Empire Undyng, so it remains to be seen which one of the two will be the better one.

Last week I've been working on Path of the Aram Thyr, which is almost done! I just need to finish adding all the different combat encounters and it will be done. About 40K words, which isn't bad in a month, at least for me, haha. My partner is coming back next week with her mother though, so I don't think I will be able to keep this up; we need to set her up at a new place we rented for her and it's going to eat most of my time next month, guaranteed. I will, of course, have something for you guys though; my intention was to release Path of the Aram Thyr for you only but I very much doubt the artist will have all the illustrations done in a month. This guy works at normal speed, unlike ORB who was pumping those Sacrifice illustrations one after another, haha. Fastest turnaround ever. So if it isn't that, it might be the scenarios for Sacrifice, if I can make it. I'll keep you guys posted!

Oh yeah, before I forget, here's one of the character sheets for Path of the Aram Thyr! There's also a techniques sheet, an encumbrance sheet, and a few other things.

As you can see, similar to Sacrifice, but you'll see that the gameplay and setting are absolutely different once you dig into it. I had fun writing something different, but it actually served to reinforce the fact that I'm so much more comfortable with dark fantasy, since returning to Under Ashen Skies, Sacrifice and Empire Undying when writing for Path feels like removing a weight, haha.

I think that's enough rambling for this week, talk to you soon!
