Update - 17/10/2022
Hello, everyone! How was your weekend? I had a blast being interviewed by Ryan from The Weekly Scroll! They also reviewed Sacrifice and had a giveaway, so overall it was really fun! I'll share the YouTube video once it's up! This week we also have a new member: Crumbling Keep! It's a great honor to have them join, I'm a huge fan of Marching Order!
So what have I been up to these last few days? Mostly working on Path of the Aram Thyr, which is really close to being complete, at least writing-wise. I have Dave working on the character sheet already, and I need to ask Glynn to draw some zone maps, 3 to be precise. These will be hex-crawling maps, which is something I've never done before, usually I prefer to leave them vague but I think it suits the setting to have a fixed geography. Can't wait to share it with you! I'm hoping to be able to do so next month, but I'm not sure I'll have all the art done by then. The writing will be complete this month guaranteed, but I also want to do some playtesting because there are a few things that need to be tested. As soon as I have the character sheet I'll open the playtesting.
Aside from that, I guess you're aware of my little post concerning Incense & Iron! I was speaking to Donn Stroud, who is apparently working on a game very similar to Sacrifice, and he said he liked the Incense & Iron tag, so I once again explained him where it came from. Since this is something I'm having to do a lot lately, I thought it was easier to just write a post about it!
We also have good news, I spoke to Phil and according to him he'll be done with Across a Thousand Dead Worlds any second now! This will be the first version of the PDF so I'm sure we'll need to go over it to see if everything's fine, but yeah, the moment is finally here!
On my free time (of which I'm going to run out very soon because Rimworld releases a new expansion this week and that's the only game that truly sucks me in) I've been working again on Under Ashen Skies. Yes, yes, here I am again, all over the place, jumping from project to project. I just had to though, it's the season to work on horror projects! For now I'm just going over all the material I had (which is a lot) and updating the ruleset to what we had already polished up with ATDW. No reason to re-do it all over from scratch! The biggest departure from ATDW is combat, which I've decided to make non-tactical. There's a lot more of combat in UAS, so having to bust out the battlemaps and minis all the time can be a chore. It works well with ATDW because combat is not a constant threat, but it is in UAS, this is an action RPG. So I went with traditional theatre of the mind combat, but maintaining all the stamina and combat options, so that the game's not boring and repetitive. I'll keep working on it here and there, I need to finish this game, I think it's going to be fun once completed!
So this week I'll be doing more of the same: finishing up Path of the Aram Thyr, and occasionally working on UAS. I'll keep you posted about all my progress, as usual. Have a great week!
