Update - 07/03/2022
Hello, everyone! Another week gone, time flies! Even though this was a quite crappy week for me so I honestly couldn't wait for it to be over... But before I start, let's welcome our newest member: Brian! Thanks so much for joining the Order!
So yeah, it's been a tough week, since my partner's aunt died, and my dog (yes the same one that needs knee surgery due to a birth defect) seems to have mites that are really messing up his skin. The poor thing spends the whole night scratching like nuts, walking around without being able to sleep... He's had fever for the past couple of days as well so I'm going to go now to the vet to see what's up. If it weren't because my other dog is healthy as a rock I'd think I'm doing something wrong, but this little guy seems to be really unlucky, he was the weakest one of the litter and it shows, under normal circumstances he wouldn't have survived.
On top of that, I'm dealing with a lot of paperwork and problems that emerged from me registering as a self-employed worker, something I had to do in order to justify the Kickstarter money. I'm scared to death of messing up some paperwork and learning that I need to pay not only the 20K I already own them for the KS, but more for not having all the correct invoices. I feel like I've been forced to become an adult all of the sudden, haha. This sucks!
On a brighter note, Vi (our editor for Across a Thousand Dead Worlds) finally has all the files (except for Leo's and Donn's scenarios) so they can start working on the editing! They said it would most likely be done in May so it looks like we're on schedule. I'm so excited to be moving to this next phase!
Meanwhile, I've been fixing details based on playtesting feedback, and working on a bunch of player aids that should streamline the process of playing the game quite a bit. If you're stuck somewhere, you just check the step by step guide to whatever you're doing (exploring a planet, creating a site, etc.) and you should know what to do next. I think that this is really necessary for a game as complex as this one.
Aside from that, I've been working on what I hope will be the next Patreon content release! It might be unexciting for some because it's just lore, but I need to create a proper timeline of the Acavian Empire, so I can build around it and better understand where everything comes from. This will affect the game's mechanics, believe me. This is just the first iteration of the timeline though, I might add or alter things later because the scope is quite grand, it covers 6,000 years of history so there's plenty of room to develop cool stories in the past. Phil is already doing some layout tests, and Carlos Castilho is working on the page frames, so it's going to look pretty!
I think that's everything for now! This week I'll work almost exclusively on Empire Undying, which I'm very happy about, since there isn't much else I can do while I wait for Vi to give me feedback on the editing. Exciting times ahead!
