Update - 08/11/2021

Hello guys, how's everyone? I hope you all had a good weekend; I had a nice WHRP 4e session with my group, our second one with the system, and that game is an absolute blast. We were in tears when each character started talking about their ambitions ("start my own academy", "buy a nice boat") and the wood elf said that she just wanted to learn how to read and write. Considering she's a sorcerer and carries a grimoire around with her, it was really funny. Also, I cannot remember the last time we had a full session without a single combat; this game really feels like a fantasy version of CoC, and we're loving it!

It was a nice week as well cause I finally received the Twilight: 2000 box from last year's KS campaign! I've been going over it and it's really nice, especially the revised YZE rules. It comes with (super basic) solo rules that one would have to complement with some external material if the goal is to have a proper PRG session and not just a basic hexcrawler, and the setting is super lame (I refuse to play soldiers, and I'm so tired of the Soviets are evil trope), but I think I will get some fun out of the system. If I had time I would be writing a Dayz (the videogame) style setting, cause it's absolutely perfect for it...

I've been working on the gear section for Across a Thousand Dead Worlds, and it's almost done! Once that's done I'll continue working on the GM-less tools, and then it's just the Karum Station chapter left to be written! So we're getting really close to finishing this thing! It's been a bit slower than I would like because I'm dealing with some personal stuff that makes it sometimes difficult to focus on writing, but it's getting there!

I'm also obsessing over the idea of having the SRD up and running ASAP. This would actually help me develop future games, and I really would love to have a community of people working on my games as well. There are two potential approaches to this though: the Mörk Borg or Mothership approach, where anyone can just write and publish what they want as long as it has the correct disclaimer and logo, or the Warlock/Warpstar way, which is me working directly with anyone interested in publishing material for my game(s) and doing so as official books. Both systems have their advantages and disadvantages, and I suppose it all depends on the level of control I want to have over what's published. I'm kind of a control freak so I'm inclined towards the second option, but this would greatly limit the game from spreading and creating a strong community. That is, if people actually want to make stuff for it, haha. What do you guys think?

So this week I'll just continue working on ATDW as usual, I really want to open the playtest to the general publish very soon! Oh yeah, and I almost forgot! the Through Sunken Lands copies should be here on Friday if all goes well, so I'll be sending the PDFs this week to all those who preordered a copy, and to the Master level patrons as well. Can't wait!

Have a great week!

As somebody with 1000+ hours in DayZ, the idea of that in a tabletop game is intriguing. I’ve been sitting on a concept for a solo play through campaign centered around that concept. 3rd party content, I think games that are wide open help the community thrive. An additional aspect of the Mörk Borg approach is Mörk Borg Cult, where they take 3rd party content they like and give them the official treatment and a stamp of approval. Best of both worlds.

I did not know about the Mörk Borg cult thing, sounds like a brilliant idea! Probably the best course of action, for sure! If you're going to play anything similar to Dayz you really must grab T:2K, it's essentially already done, down to the fact that you play in a Slavic country. You just miss zombies, that's it, the rest is all in already!

Good settings, rules all over the place. That's why I unsubscribed.
