Update - 11/10/2021

Hey! How was everyone's weekend? I hope you all had time to relax and maybe even get some gaming going on. I didn't do anything worth mentioning, unfortunately. I did get to play a bit of 5 Parsecs from Home, it's been a while! I talked to Ivan Sorensen, the game's creator, this week actually, he told me 5 Leagues from the Borderlands should be out later this year. I'm excited, that's the skirmish game I've played the most! (aside from Mordheim, back in the day).

So last week I finally announced to the world that Seekers and Disciples now belong fully to Exalted Funeral. Most people are not happy about it, but they seem to understand why, because apparently EF is gaining the reputation of never answering anything... They really should get a dedicate team for customer service, in my opinion. In any case, I'm glad all that is over! I've been focusing on Across a Thousand Dead Worlds, as expected, and I'm super happy to have essentially finalized the combat rules! As many of you know, the first iteration was a traditional "theatre of the mind"-style of combat; I then implemented optional tactical combat because I thought it would be a good fit. The problem is that having both rule systems was confusing and even contradictory at some point, so I've opted for fusing them, in favor of the tactical combat. This means that combat now requires a hex grid and some minis or tokens to be played. I'm hoping we can make a few battle maps as Kickstarter stretch goals, we'll see... I wasn't sure if this would be a good idea, because I didn't want to alienate those players who (like myself) always play without any type of minis or maps, but I really think the game benefits from a more nuanced, slow-paced combat. Fights aren't as common in ATDW as they are in my previous games, so each one of them should be special and well planned out. I hope we can refine the rules through playtesting, but right now I'm super happy with them!

So this week it will be more of the same. I'll try to not procrastinate with other stuff and finish the Planetside exploration rules (damn those tables, they never end...). I've also started looking into the GM emulation rules, and I'll be doing a couple of things differently with them this time. I'm super excited to get this game out and in your hands!

So that's it for now, have a great week!

The alpha files are already uploaded here on Patreon! And we have a closed playtest going right now, only accessible to Order members. The files uploaded here are not fully up to date though, and there are also several cheat sheets and useful forms that are missing; let me know if you want access to them! You can also join the testing whenever you want, just drop by the Discord server and let me know!
