Update - 07/06/2021
Hello! How was everyone's weekend? Mine was good, had a nice session on Saturday and I was mostly procrastinating on Sunday. I managed to sleep 7 hours for the first time in months, instead of my usual 3-4 so it felt great, haha.
So this last week was a weird one. Essentially, I didn't write a single word (not exactly true, but basically), all I did was crunch numbers and test a million different combinations for the encounter tables. I've never approached balancing this way so it's all new for me, and as such it's taking me a lot of time. All this to have some semblance of balance and avoid having a totally broken game. I know these numbers will all come apart once we start playtesting combat, but at least I will have a foundation to work upon when I need to rework it. And don't worry, I didn't forget that you guys voted that you preferred having unbalanced combat, instead of all combat being more or less tailored to your level. you can come across a creature that is relatively easy to defeat in one area, and on the next encounter an abomination that you will not be able to even scratch. You'll have to be cautious and be ready to flee if things get ugly.
Aside from working on Across a Thousand Dead Worlds, I've started gathering my many, many notes for this month's Patreon content: investigation rules for Seekers Beyond the Shroud. This is the last pillar I'm missing for the Narrative Playbook, so I must get it right! It's a difficult thing to come up with procedural investigations, though. I'll keep you guys posted!
So that's basically it for this week; I have some big news to share soon but I'll wait until I've signed the contracts to let you know. Things are always moving behind the scenes, I guarantee you! Hope you all have a great week!
