Writing For Comics Masterclass
I did a masterclass for Merseyside-based Comics Youth in November and you can watch it now. We had some A/V issues so my video feed alas had to become a still, and I might sound like I'm talking down an analogue phone line but I consider this "authentic" to my '80s upbringing.
During the 90 minute talk I cover a lot of ground, and I think if you have any interest in writing process generally there will be something for you here. Comics Youth are doing great work with their Comics Declassified programme and there are more free masterclasses coming up.
My Patreon subscribers can always message me with process questions, I've written a couple of dozen essays answering them (all tagged Q&A) and will be opening the floor for more next month.

This was so helpful. Thank you. I’ve been following you around the internet since the early 00s and I always loved your work no matter how imperfect. My modest contributions to the world of self published comics have been heavily influenced by your work. Cheers.
That was fab.
Wow!
Part of the fun of this patreon is never knowing if a post will be a farce or a sincere consideration of art. I fully expected more Desmond, but I’m much more excited to watch this! Apologies to M. Fishman
Truly, a very wiss Scott McCloud of the 2020s—but back in the 00's when I was teaching at the Art Institute of Colorado, 2005, I think—I pointed my students towards your comics on process right next to McCloud.
I watched some of the masterclass earlier today, and thought it was great! I'm definitely going to rewatch it for the writing tips to help woth my own. I especially liked your section on artist/writer collaboration.
