Read SAVAGE SWORD OF SUSAN in full, now
Sunday greetings, valued subscriber. What better way to spend your day of rest than by reading a brand new tale? Not so interested? What if I tell you that it features pulse-pounding action, deeply sensual romantasy, melodious tootling, treachery, intrigue, friendship and "little jokes"? I think you would say, John, no 34-page comic could contain all those things because the golden age is over and all entertainment is now grey slop.
ALL I WILL SAY IN REPLY IS: THINK AGAIN, AND BE CAREFUL ABOUT MAKING SUCH SWEEPING STATEMENTS IN FUTURE!
Your PDF is linked under the cover image below. The next comic delivery will arrive on or around September 8th. Let me know if you enjoyed Savage Sword of Susan in the comments. Maybe it's not game over for entertainment just yet.

I greatly enjoyed this and eagerly await future installments.
I loved it. I'm so happy to have these characters back and to get some of the unmentionable barbarian adventure stuff salvaged. It's wonderful.
God, this is so rad
HOORAY! I will read it after the publication on the site.
Does anyone else habitually read the word 'Bastard' specifically in Sean Bean's voice these days or is it just me?
EXCELLENT! I am delighted!
Came here to say pretty much exactly this!
As always, a wonderful read John
'Twas a worthy tale, well-told, good Bard! May the mighty-thewed muse bless thee (and us) with its sequel in the months to come.
Excellent work and a delight from start to finish. As ever, from my vantage, you move from strength to strength.
How fun was it to draw the panels when the spores affected them?
That was hard, getting it to look a bit like a Milton Glaser drawing, but a fun challenge.
This has brightened up my day no end. Fantastic stuff.
Absolutely delighted with this. A charming and thrilling read from hat to sack!
Made my day reading this. The licking ritual! And was Susan holding on to the smiths ears when she shagged him?
I haven't read it yet but I am just so, so glad to see you back at this. May the many tentacled horror of horseshit intellectual property claims be forever banished into the furthest recesses of the ninth hell.
Love this, John. You've got such a strong repertory company of well-defined characters that you can successfully seed them into different times and places, just like, say, Bugs Bunny turning up in the American Revolution or Robin Hood's Sherwood Forest and getting on with business.
Your commitment to alliteration in the title and file name is inspirational, John.
I was so, so pleased with myself
Oh, this was a pleasure to read.
Verily must I admit 'twas unexpected to see thine Derek the Super thus appear. Bravo and godspeed, Sir Allison!
Only his third appearance but he's so powerful that each one feels like ten
I think the most wonderful example of ancient times ( that would make those ancient folk wail and gnash their teeth at what they missed!)
Wow! Whilst I will always wonder what the finale of the Blood Egg would have looked like had it been unimpeded, this Susan is far more entertaining than Conan ever was! Long live Susan! May we get many more summertime tales of her savagery! Brilliant stuff.
Orzabal the Intense 😆 The smith needs an assistant, Curt.
Master of the Scream Primeval!
I am unquantifiably happy. These are tears. Tears of joy.
Marvellous output.
Alas that the year is 2025, and not, say, sixteen seventy-seven.
Sweet wisdom is the victor! Huzzah!
Thank you!
YESSSSSSSSSS
We keep watch on the shimmering horizon for husky riders from distant lands, where, in darkened libraries lit only by bronze braziers with eery purple flames, somber agents do sift through crumbling scrolls of dubious origin so that their wizened masters may claim dominion over tales spun by hearty bards around our welcoming hearths.
This is good stuff, really good.
Really like this fantasy AU, and this newest installment is no exception. Having this be both its own thing separated from the rest of your comics and in a more fantasy-oriented light is an engaging way to revisit a lot of these older characters, and it makes me wonder who else could show up reinterpreted for this world of savagery and sword-play.
Anything is possible but the important thing is to keep coming up with new ideas rather than revisiting tired old ones from back in the day, so any guest spots must be earned.
Did I count those s:es? Yes, I did.
Beautiful alliteration. Can't wait to read it!
By Crumb, I have long awaited this adventure! I shall read it with gusto John!
Yessss. (Deaths) Head Over Heels for this.
James you may be thinking of my classic "OC" Super Derek who bears no resemblance to any freelance peace-keeping agents living or dead, yes?
I would, but the Patreon servers have been hit by a Carrington Event of excited readers. The Internet Protocol was designed to cope with nuclear war, but nothing as exciting as this. I will try again later, as they suggest.
Thank you John, I shall
