Fresh from the platen
I did a convention appearance yesterday so I thought beforehand that I should practice my sketching. What follows are the sketches I did while watching a TV movie from 1997.
And now, two Onion Dan images I drew on the train on Wednesday. The first from the "out" leg, the second from the return journey. Neither trip exceeded 15 minutes but you have to keep busy, don't you?

Gosh now I'm imagining a multi-season Onion Dan & Mr. Zloty show, which starts as a wacky situation comedy about an unlikely friendship, leadng to a love triangle that creates the initial crack between our two heroes as the show slowly metamorphosizes into a bleak crime drama, with them coming to deadly blows in the series finale. Maybe with a stop at murder mystery format somewhere along the way.
Is it just me, or do the nuns bare some resemblance to our favorite Terrible Trio of Sheffield U?
Go south west, a few hundred miles
"Don't just draw a head. A head without a body is just the byproduct of a bloody revolution." 😂 Your wordsmithing and brilliant character development are why your comics stand high and dry above the rest.
These are all great sketches, and I hope they eventually make their way into your official work. You knight looks particularly Kirby-esque and I think Onion Dan and the vampires would make for a great Steeple story/spinoff.
This was extremely enjoyable, thank you.
Onion Dan's boss interview chair is one serious piece of furnarchitecture.
Of course, a giant vampire boss *has* to have a giant desk, but also *must* have a GIANT BLOTTER. I mean, it's an accessory I could really get into—er, in to, I mean.
What matters is the "doing it" part! Thank you for the encouragement!
That knight appears to be an ancestor of Rev. Penrose. How far back does that line of holy warriors go?
Big fan of the Nosferatu-lookalike appreciating Dan’s moxy
I believe I recognize Bela Lugosi and Peter Falk among those images on the first page. Not to mention one Dr. Henry Jones, Jr.
I'm afraid that being a distant relatives of the Garlic family could become a problem for Onion Dean.
“Swamp King” still sounds dangerously infringing. Bog Bloke? Marsh Man? Fen Fellow?
Swamp King.
I did not see the Onion Dan Giant Vampire Boss twist coming at all. You've still got the moxie.
Is the vampire really a giant, or is Onion Dan just onion-sized?
You're asking the right questions, Dean.
