This might've been one of the most fun batches we've made EVER, really. The puns in the raviholy got the team laughing for days. And the best part? This whole batch is going to be in the CAKEWALK BOOK!
In case you didn't know, Cakewalk will be its own book as part of the Wild Hearth Kickstarter! It's a bonus book, but it's part of the pentabook tier or as an add-on! It will have all 5 adventures we released here on patreon, as well as all the food-based monsters in this batch + the Wizards of the Toast adventure, all updated to 2024 like our most recent content :) check it out!
Now... we need a little break. We'll come back in a week or two with the next batch, which will be very... thematic with our release schedule ;)
Truth Reigns Supreme!
Not much to be said here! The Mechouatl has some really fun mechanics, and clearly it was a fan favorite, given it got 1/3 of the votes!
We kept it simple this time: this guy is a CR 14, so we made two lower CR variants to go with it, at CR 5 and 9! The CR 5 version doesn't even have Legendary Actions, so you can use it as an early game boss OR as a minion later on! How nifty... I just hope their True Colours trait doesn't stack!

The Garlich and the Gargoil are just so distinctly diffrent then any other cakewalk designs before, I kinda love them.
I think that to Coat of Arm's Judgement of Character feature should also apply to your paladin spells, Oaths, or both. Also, did you not do tiered versions of this item? Surely a CR 5 isn't intended to provide enough or quality harvest materials to construct a Legendary item, right? I mean, I'm just gonna make it 'evolving' through additional crafting; the more/stronger of the Mechouatl they defeat, the better the armor becomes. (i.e. pauldrons for Tier 1, helm for T2, breastplate for T3)
The item doesn't have any tiers because there wasn't a good way to make it work without losing out on the item's fantasy! And remember: the component is only one half of the crafting recipe. Having the CR 5's _Construct (Mechouatl) Stone_ isn't enough to craft it, you also need the essence of a high CR creature to make any legendary item!
I mean... the Raviholy being close to my preferred denomination is truly inspired, but the Garlich is just in time for spooky season. Hallowed be thy ween!
