The Sunland Artillery Battery is here! - DOWNLOAD LINKS

Good evening guys! ⚔️

*First of all, there is a ton of photos and a few videos in this post, more than usual, sorry for that*

The engineers from the Mergenheim Engineering School have been working very hard the last couple of weeks to have the artillery pieces ready for the first deployment in the land of the Sun Emperor.

The Sunland Artillery Battery is composed of:

  • Sunland Imperial Cannon

  • Sunland Imperial Mortar

  • Sunland Imperial Volley Gun

  • Five Artillery Crew

  • Barricades and pieces

But this is not everything. Some imperial merchants returning for oriental lands have been in touch with the scholars from Mergenheim, and they'va been discussing a new weapon they've seen along their travels, a weapon that launched some kind of gunpowder inside a cilinder called 'rocket'. The engineers, working along with some miners and alchemists from the town, have also discovered a forgotten stone that can bring some rare arcane power, and it can be concentrated inside some kind of mechanism to launch a powerful arcane attack over the enemies of the Empire of Sun. But they only have a prototype, we'll have to wait til October 2021 to see what kind of creation the engineers will do.

We have also updated the front piece of the Wittemberg Wagon we did for the past August 2021 Release to be able to place the Artillery Pieces inside the wagon.

All the miniatures and artillery pieces are being pre-supported at the moment and they'll be available very soon.

We're finishing the last thing for this September Release and everything will be done! This last piece is more like an artwork rather than a miniature... in some way. We are very excited about it and we'll be able to show the preview very soon!

Hope you like it guys. We read you as always!

That artillery with the gabions and crew is amazing! Thank you.

Very nice, and just what I need for a special scenario in the narrative Mordheim campaign I am working on. (A Silence the Guns scenario.) Though it would be nice if there was an alternate crewman holding a shell big enough for the mortar. (As is, I will be ducking the issue by not having anyone holding a ball.)

Great job on the artillery so far! Something we REALLY need besides the rocket battery though would be a set of draft horses and small wheeled limber to move the artillery around the battlefield as well as a general purpose ammunition and supply wagon. The idea of somehow lifting heavy metal guns like that high into the war wagon to transport them seems a bit absurd and the recoil of firing one in the wagon would likely turn it over. I could imagine swivel guns mounted on the wagon which would be more powerful than regular muskets. A generic 16th century supply wagon should be considered a "must have". One inspired by the beautiful Landsknecht wagon made by Elastolin (which you can readily find images of on the internet) would be perfect. Also consider additional, different posed crew for the rocket battery, and a few sappers and miners with digging tool for building gun emplacements and siege trenches. I hope we will also see some period tents, ranging from large commander tents to primitive hovels of the poorest soldiers. Soldiers in camp, drinking, eating, playing cards, etc. would be a wonderful addition too, not to mention some camp follower wenches as well!

I love the gabions. Such a nice extra for Siege battles :) I'm really looking forward to these. Any chance we might see a smaller war wagon with engineers trying out new weaponry? Man catchers, multi barreled guns etc?

Love the models (even if I am not a big fan of Empire/Early Modern troops, these are amazing sculpts!) But I want to give an extra bonus for the gifs. This is really a direct and honest way to show the model's preview, one of the best I have seen recently. Little flash, a lot of bang.

Sven Langbein · September 18, 2021

what units are still missing for Sunland ?

H
Highlands Miniatures · September 21, 2021

We still have to create one cavalry unit, one special cavalry unit, some militia units, war priests... and this is only for Sunland, the Empire of Sun is composed of three other factions!

Sven Langbein · September 18, 2021

I absolutly love it !

Howie · September 17, 2021

Looks awesome, glad you're modifying the wagon as I was going to have to try and bodge it to do it myself. All looks awesome, super happy with how you've done this whole range.

H
Highlands Miniatures · September 17, 2021

Thank you very much Liam! Yes, we though that it would be easy to modify the front part of the wagon to make it more cool. We have also created a wood piece to replace the wheels in the cannon, to use it for the wagon, making the cannon "fixed" to the base :)

S
SpaceRanger42 · September 17, 2021

Your Volley Gun has a big issue but otherwise these look awesome.

T
Tim Richards · September 17, 2021

Very well done! A bit confused how the volley gun works... looks like the balls feed in from the rear via the hopper, but how does one get the powder in the barrel? 🤔

H
Highlands Miniatures · September 17, 2021

Thank you Richard! We suppose that they use the mechanism in the back to separate the charger from the barrels, putting some kind of compressed gunpowder disk in between, closing it again and making fire. :)

Richard Stuhlsatz · September 17, 2021
