January 2025 Preview: The Year of the Rat!
The Year of the Rat
Celebrate the Year of the Rat in the Highlands Miniatures universe with the launch of the Sewer Vermin, our new fantasy race based on your vote in our latest poll.
Born in darkness, living in filth, and possessing less patience than a painter trying to finish their unit before Christmas, these cunning, bitter, and armed rats are masters of survival... Squeak-squeak!
Therefore, the first set of Sewer Vermin miniatures is set to arrive this January 2025 to Highlands Miniatures plenty of rats. Really, a big bunch of rats. Core infantry, special miniatures, a tiny hero and... one more thing!
We have had a blast sculpting these first rat and it's been a challenge to design them taking into account the requirement for variation within the same units. We hope we have been up to the task!
Scroll down to read more information about these miniatures and their customization.
The January 2025 set of miniatures will be composed of:
10x Sewer Rats
3x Sewer Rats Command Group
7x Vermin Acolytes
4x Vermin Acolytes with Censers
3x Vermin Acolytes Command Group
1x Vermin Pastor
To be confirmed
Now, let's dive into it.
More modularity for more variation
We understand some of the Sewer Vermin units will be played with many miniatures within a single unit. We have adapted and increased our modular weaponry system for some of these units so you guys will be able to bring more rats and more variation with the same miniatures.
These rats will come with a full modular arm with a ball joint in order to vary the position and rotation of the arm. The bodies will come with a ball cavity to attach the ball joint from the arms.
Let's take a look at the new modular system.
So here they are!
We are finishing the year a bit exhausted since we are also working on the Fantasy Fillers and Heroes: Sunland Frontier but cannot wait to keep working on these.
We are getting close to launch so remember to redeem the Free Miniature before its too late!

Maybe we are in need of some rat ninjas
YESS YEES bring some clan moulder abominations please
The faces look more like beaver or hamster, to me. Some even have a lion-esque features. Rat noses and muzzles are sharp and pointy and their heads are quite slim, some of these guys are right chonkers with flat beaver schnozzes. but yes that's just my take
YES YES! awesome news :D I'm definitely up for rats, but do you think you could squeeze in a Sunland Warwagon somewhere? From the new Arcane Journal it looks like lots of ppl will want this, I definitely do as a merchant
Thank you for the support! There will be new Sunland miniatures in the upcoming Frontier for sure!
Amazing sculpts! ..and here I am starting another hord amy.. 🙈
Glad you like them!! The Year of the Rat is upon us 🐀🐀🐀
These are exactly what I was hoping for. Classic feel and poses. Thank you.
There are no rat men living in the sewers none at all!
SIIIII! Que ganas de las ratitas!!
Definitely prefer these to the model that was chosen for the faction poll ages ago its face is the most plasticiney imho. Its not a bad ratman at all just feel like the other models now shown are a better representation of a style I can get behind. Keen for more ALSO MODULAR yay!!
Was expecting the elite rats to come before the acolites but god i must say im exited 13 diferent bodies with the weapon being modular is incredible Only one question does the shield come separate as well?
Glad you like them! Of course, the shield comes separated from the bodies :)
