Top Down Houses
For making houses and other structures in top down I always recommend looking for reference, for example, this tutorial was based on Zelda: Minish Cap art.
Representing things in top down 2D comes with a very hard perspective problem that's very hard to solve. Here I use one of my favorite methods, fake perspective (fake because everything here is isometric) and then making everything straight using footers, barrels, grass or pretty much anything. This way you still have the illusion of depth but things tile next to each other.

Cool! In one game I made, I was bitter about devoting so much screen space to rooftops, so I went for an even faker perspective. It's a top-down view but you see things almost from the front (both characters and buildings). https://i.gyazo.com/0e0148c6062fa1b9c2f288c3603596b4.png https://i.gyazo.com/c5448ea23570ee13fce654723ca0e48d.png
Awesome! I love all your pixel art! It's a huge inspiration for me. Keep up the great work! :) <3
Super useful for understanding 3:4 perspective tricks.
I love the footers idea!
Is it just me or does this look a little less quality than normal for Pedro? From the past posts when I see "add detail" there are arrows showing what type, this one doesn't. Also, first time I have seen the body of the post having more content than the image which I hope to see more of!
Maybe it seems different because this tutorial isn't about animation? I'm still really happy with the quality.
This is wonderful, thanks!
the result is nice, I need to try :3
