Twilight Zone Of Death - Depew, Oklahoma
This week, in Depew, Oklahoma, a scary situation develops, after a strange relationship goes sour between a married woman, and a mystery man who rode a bicycle into town. The results are two very innocent people, brutally murdered in their own home, followed by a crazy rampage of violence that leaves blood all over the area. The killer refuses to give up, wanting to kill even more. But a brave teenager, who refused to be killed leads to his ultimate downfall, with only question remaining being "will he get the death penalty?"!!
Along the way, we find out that when a biker festival says "no kids allowed", there's going to be a lot of nudity, that no one just decides to ride a bicylce hundreds of miles, for no reason, and that sometimes, no matter how much you try to kill someone, they might just refuse to die!!

As soon as I heard she was a register nurse I was like he's going to be fucking her
I'm live in the small town of Depew, NY (near former episode in Corfu). Almost shit my pants when I first saw the town name!
I find it knee-slapping hilarious that Jimmie can't pronounce most names, but he rattles off Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease! 😂 Oh, Jimmie, I love you because you (and James) give me a reason to smile and laugh for a few hours each week. Thank you, guys!
Boredom really will make you go toward the sound of a car crash. In late 2020 I was out on my back porch enjoying the only time Phoenix isn't like living in a GD food dehydrator when I heard a crash. I decided I should go take an evening walk. (After all, I live near Deer Valley airport - small private aircraft runway and parking - and the last time I heard a big crash it was a small plane that went down in the street/the neighbor's back yard!) Somebody had decided to go fast in a 15 zone through the dips (flash flood prevention, we're on a mild grade so the water channeled through the dips flows into the dry wash separating us from the next subdivision) and lost control of his car and ended up in the living room of one of the corner houses. There were so many of us that got curious. And we'd been cooped up at home so long we actually talked to each other!
Came here to say…..Can’t wait for love after lock up episodes. Those are refreshing!
This year is the 100 year anniversary of the completion of Route 66. My father in law did a huge exhibit at the LA County Fair, and I painted a map the size of a garage door for him. I was dying laughing in the beginning, because truly, only old people care. The map is now on a traveling tour of nursing homes in CA 😆 🤣 😂
I was in Flagstaff recently and because it was of course raining during the only PTO I get to take we went to their little museum. There's a lot of great info and artifacts about the indigenous cultures from the surrounding areas, but their Route 66 room was hilarious. There was absolutely a sign about "The Mother Road" but also a lot about how much garbage assholes left everywhere. I finally understand those ads with the fake Native guy crying about litter.
Oklahoma, and most of the people who live there, suck SO bad.
There’s a documentary show called I survived…the old married couple is on that show telling their story about this incident in this story. It’s worth the watch. So good, especially if you like true crime shows.
I've never been able to bring myself to watch that show. I know I'd spend the whole time realizing I'm not cut out for survival. I did manage to set my own broken bone, but I fainted when I tried to get up to get to the car to avoid an ambulance bill.
This story is also an episode of I almost got away with it. It’s season 3 episode 6 “got to get revenge” for anyone who’s interested in watching this masterpiece.
They didn’t say my name 😞
We lived around the corner from where he was hiding out in the fields. When the special operations team was sweeping on foot for him, they blocked our road and wouldn’t let us go home. We had to drive to Skiatook and stay with my grandma for the night. I was in elementary at the time, and every morning during the search, they had all the teachers out front of the school escorting us into the building every morning. For a town like Bristow, this was the wildest thing to ever happen. Everyone was freaking out, it was terrifying for an 8 year old.
Guys Iove you both and have been with you from day 1, but sorry I'm tired of hearing you don't make fun of the victim or the victim's family. Then to say your family took your grandmother's death with decorum, and then look down your nose at how this family grieved. Like you say, everyone grieves differently. So they have the right to feel anyway they want 🙄
Kbyyyyyeeeeee!
My dad and his twin are Ronald Dean and Donald Gene!
I've heard from so many people that having rhyming names or alliterative names is the worst because you can never tell who your parents are yelling for. My fiance is Sean and his dad is John. Annie and Amy was a double whammy for twins I knew. I will say, though, that I have a nephew named Jesse and it would not have changed a single thing about my naming a theoretical daughter Jessica. It's my best friend's name, it's the name my partner also had always planned for a girl baby so his sister would just have to live with it. (She would have been fine, she's alarmingly chill for being Irish/Italian from LI, and my son would only respond to "Pie" for for over a year because "pie is the best thing and I am the best thing" and I assume any daughter I produced would be similarly unhinged.)
hey this is random asf but hey James will you guys do a extra episode about the Tupac murder trial after it's over bc it's crazy I know you're watching it bc everyone is I hope survive in your yeah reads this but I'm sure you guys will! thanks I love you guys I'm gonna try and give to a live show in Nashville ,TN next year!
This story sounds like a similar episode years ago
Before you defend Bill Gothard you might want to research him. Yikes. 😬 Basically a cult leader disgraced for abuse of young girls. Closely connected through his IBLP organization with the Duggars and those type of families.
I'm not saying I endorse how the victim's family behaved/blaming Kathy, but I do kind of understand it. I mean, if this woman wouldn't have cheated on her husband with some 9/11 bicycle grifter, all of this would have probably been avoided. It's not a flattering way for them to behave, but I get the grief-driven impulse.
YES, they do indeed call Route 66 as The Mother Road..at least in Winslow in Az they do!! I know what you mean about people caring too much about Route 66. People love to stand in the middle of the street in the Route 66 symbol painted on the intersection ..ugh 😩
I think it's funny (weird) that while he was in OK, he was on a murdering rampage, but as soon he made it to Texas, he gave up as soon as they asked. I'm not saying OK cops are easy, but you just don't mess with Texas! (BTW, you know why Texas doesn't fall into the Gulf of Mexico? Because Oklahoma SUCKS!!!! 🤣)
Heavy metal scientists FTW!! I am a goth scientist :)
NOT a vroom vroom a pedal pedal 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I’m a hairstylist and I shit you not that I hear more times than not how a woman client won’t do certain things to their hair because of their husband. Actually just had a situation that a woman came back in because her husband said her hair was too dark… Whyyyyy do these husbands care??? It’s my damn head! Also, I am in Tennessee sooooo that does answer a lot, I know.
There is a Depew, NY in the Western NY area. It never occurred to me there could be another as it's a bit of an odd name.
My second favorite episode behind Picket Robin
Was this on the show "I almost got away with it. "?
This guy is so weird. Lol. If you listen to the episode again from the beginning, you have to wonder if this is the same guy!!
Does anyone remember the episode from a few years ago when a military guy was such a momma’s boy that his mom got his base changed or something? I can’t remember what episode it was
His mother is only one of many reasons why STM #421 is one of the absolute classics
They pulled out the full Paw Patrol arsenal!
Oh shit, I’m in Bristow for work today. Crazy. Depressing af, Depew is worse
I have a Chihuahua named Packer (yes after the football team) I love him but I can confirm he’s kinda an a-hole. 😂
John Steinbeck called Route 66 “The Mother Road” — no idea if he coined it, though.
OMG, from NW Arkansas bout 2 hours aways from this and had a coworker that would go to that "Route 66 After Sturgis Party" bike rally with her husband and their "biker" friends (all in their 50s/60s at the time) ... no joke about the leather shoulders 🤣 she would tell us about the clothing optional swim and how they got "baptized" there.... 🤢🤮🏍👵🧓 not sure why she shared...cause for sure NO ONE asked...lol
I’ve never gone from cackling to being horrified in a whole 10 mins (min 40-50) Jimmie is on one on this ep and it’s made my day
I about spit out my coffee when Jimmie said, "You know, pitty pussy is underrated." 🤣
Love the Biker comments…. Nailed it.. truth.. can’t stop laughing 🤣
Does the Tack and Feed Boot and Barn Westernwear also have bait? Or is that at the convenience store down the road that also sells liquor?
We have a place here in New Mexico that has "Prom dresses and knife sharpening". Dead serious!
Also - I wish y’all could do a live chat on an upcoming episode. Idk if Patreon even supports that but it’d be fun to chat with everyone while listening to an episode for the first time!! 🙏🏻
Jimmie whispering in the background is why I listen. (Maybe a few other things as well. Maybe)
Checking in from OKC! Another funny ass Oklahoma episode
4
Fell asleep on the couch to the real estate report, woke to a guy driving a pickup truck wildly trying to knock off the shotgun wielding man in the back who won’t fall off, women staggering around blinded by blood, thinking dead people on the floor are scarecrows… What is happening???
🤣
Jimmy so breathey in the intro
Don't yuck my yum! 🤣🤣🤣
I have not listened yet but will tomorrow as I travel to work and back but, yay, Oklahoma! Lol. I live here and it is all stupid, lol.
Born and raised Okie here currently living in OKC. I LOVE WHEN YOU GUYS DO OKLAHOMA EPISODES!!! They are always the craziest. Also, my uncle by marriage killed his roommate and set his body on fire in Guthrie back in like 2021 I think. He’s dead now too. I’ll try to get as much info as possible, maybe it could be an express episode. lol.
Oklahoma and Indi
Yayyyyy
Yay indeed, Jeremy, yay indeed.
