Generation Zero final showdown storage capacity increase x1000 MOD
i only recently started playing generation zero and noticed that most mods are outdated, including the one provided on nexus that increases storage capacity, so i made my own. in fact, claude AI made it. i only extracted the file and gave it to claude.
I really like how powerful claude AI is becoming, even the free version is way ahead of all others. anyway it's quite easy, but i just can't bother. problem is that there's no tool that can re-pack the extracted files. once you extract them using DECA tool, you can extract as raw or text, but if you extract as text, you can edit it in notepad++, but you can't turn it back into the raw binary format that game reads, SO you have to use HEX editor to directly edit raw format, but in order to know the correct spot, you need to extract the text file aswell and look at the hex offsets it provides. it shows what is where. that's the part i couldn't bother with, since storage capacity has 10 levels and so does the recycling station (material storage).
Instead i just gave text + raw files to claude and asked to change storage capacity x1000 for both, done within seconds!
I was gonna write my own modding tool for it, but i probably can't be bothered, there's too many things to do, maybe i'll use DECA's source code and write my own version that actually works, but probably not. DECA is so poorly made, it has so many issues.. it chokes on its own threads while extracting files, took me like 2-3 hours waiting on it choking on its own threads cuz it locks the database file for writing and then other threads are waiting for the lock to be released, so 90% of time that tool was doing NOTHING.. hours of wasted time that can be done within minutes.
How to INSTALL the mod:
download playersettings.playersettingsc file below
place it in \GenerationZero\dropzone\settings folder (create dropzone and settings folders)
if you're on steam, use the launch options, otherwise make a shortcut to game's .exe and at end of "target" add this:
--vfs-fs dropzone --vfs-archive archives_win64/initial --vfs-archive archives_win64/supplemental --vfs-archive archives_win64/optional
so entire "target" field looks like this: (obviously if you don't have G:/Games then change it to correct path).
G:\Games\GenerationZero\GenerationZero_F.exe --vfs-fs dropzone --vfs-archive archives_win64/initial --vfs-archive archives_win64/supplemental --vfs-archive archives_win64/optional
launch game from that shortcut
