Skeleton Green (Iron Age Huts)
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...
...there was a village of Skeleton Green.
(No, brain, not 'Dragonstone'. No one even said that it was a skeleton of a dinosaur, let alone of a jade dragon. Stop it.)
Actually, it wasn't in another galaxy but in south-eastern Britain, in the later part of the Iron Age. Nothing spectacular, to be honest. A very small, unimpressive community. A couple of houses here and there, leaving us nothing but a bunch of post holes to examine. That's it.
Except that those houses weren't round.
...
I know right?!
In case anyone is interested in the details, HERE is a download link to a relevant article in the Britannia Monograph series. For the rest of you, let's just say that it was a major source of inspiration. Mix it with impressions of German Heuneburg and some creative liberty and voila! You've got the current set.
Six types of houses this time (some probably too fancy, but hey, you can't really disprove the existence of double-floored houses based just on post holes, can you?). Find them by typing 'VS' in your search bar; you might have to enable debug, as they're officially world deco objects.
Maxis-Match or alpha (k-hippie & co.) versions. Not mutually exclusive, you can safely download both.
Come in daub, limestone, vertical wooden and horizontal wooden textures. You MUST download the corresponding textures (and tuning!) from THIS post for the huts to work properly in your game!!!
The polycounts vary a lot depending on the complexity of the house, but even the highest I got (house no. 4) is well below 3K. There's also a huuuge gap in polycount/quality between lods 0/1 and lod 2: once the houses are used only as background deco, they become flat blobs of some 200-500 poly (OK, fine, house no. 2 is 784. Hard to flatten a 3D porch...). So I'd say they're in the lightweight category and can be used generously wherever you want to put them, especially the simpler ones.
Let me know if there are any problems (and if your huts are disco-coloured, go grab those textures and tuning ffs!) and enjoy!
Oh, and also, happy new year everyone! The last one was as shitty on me as it gets (๐๐๐๐๐ iykwim) so here's to hoping this one will be better... I'd say 'at least not worse', 'cause yeah, I know it still could get worse - but nah, you know what, I need it to actually get better. Shouldn't be that hard given the bar is on the floor ๐ 2026, you can do it!
