Brythonic Deco Buildings: UPDATED texture & tuning files

19th December 2025 edit: I'd messed up the wooden textures 🙈 I'm really sorry, I know it's the 4th time in a span of a month, but please redownload!

(Turns out I still had them attached to one of the new houses; once I removed them from there and tried to run on the separated textures only, wooden buildings turned disco. Whoops. Note to self: don't tick the 'renumber' option when you make a selective clone of textures. At least no harm was done as nothing published was trying to use them yet!)

***

As while working on new deco buildings I ended up adding four new texture files (2 MM and 2 alpha) to the already existing eight, I decided to remove the merged textures from their original post and publish them here separately (well, ok, together with the tuning file). It's a new, updated version, so make sure to download them and replace the old files!

Q: What do I have to download?

You need the tuning file and at least one of the 'textures' files. There are two versions: MM and/or alpha; pick whatever fits your aesthetics. Or just download both if you want to, why not?

Q: Why are those files so huge???

Because those are merged files. As of today (11 Dec 2025) each of them includes 6 packages, each of them with numerous swatches. Obviously, the files get quite heavy from carrying all that info. But! Thanks to the textures being referenced by multiple mesh packages, all of my deco buildings weigh under 1 MB each. Considering at present they're used by 5 meshes/objects, and there are 5 new underway, I'd say it's a pretty good deal.

Q: Which meshes? How can I make any use of those files?

The textures & the tuning are currently used in objects from the following posts:

Q: So what EXACTLY is inside?

The tuning makes the objects emit steam, using one of the vfx effects from GTW (no worries, you don't need the pack for it to work. 100%. I don't even have it 😁). I might tweak it further (or add new tuning files) at some point in the future, but for now that's it. Makes your deco villages look much livelier.

As for the textures: as mentioned above, there are 6 packages inside each merged file. Each of them corresponds to a different type of wall:

  1. wattle

  2. daub

  3. limewashed

  4. stone

  5. wood vertical (NEW!)

  6. wood horizontal (NEW!)

Note: Not all the packages are used by all objects! E.g. the roundhouses don't come in the wooden swatches, while stone walls are used by one type of roundhouse only.

Check this post for more information on the textures (including some quotes / comments on their accuracy).

Q: OK, so some wooden textures got added. Any other changes?

Actually, yes.

My current WIPs make a much bigger use of the pillars, which made me realise the texture I was originally using for them - across all the packages - is way too alpha for the MM aesthetic. Therefore, the old pillars were relegated only to the alpha versions, while the MM ones now use a texture from one of the in-game pillars.

Q: Where do all those textures come from?

For MM:

  • stucco wall, clean wall, some stone wall, Cabin in the Woods (BG horizontal planks) wall, Worn Wood Siding (Get Together vertical planks) wall, Mega Column and Cottage Living roof by EA.

For alpha:

For both:

  • big barn door by Simverses (mesh edited/simplified by me, to make the door more solid).

Big heartfelt thank you to all the creators - both for their work and their generous TOUs!
