Unboxing a few fabrics and a mini studio update ✨

Hello there! I ended up rather spontaneously taking apart the Arcana set today, and it turned out to be more exhausting moving all the pieces and flooring bits around than I was expecting. I wanted to film the finished dress I made for this month's upcoming patreon exclusive sewing video on a more neutral backdrop, but forgot just how many layers of stuff were on top of my paneled set! I may need to touch up the "wall" a bit, as the faux finishing left over from 2022's Halloween look book was still hiding underneath it all. I did manage to wipe the powdery fake snow lingering away though at least, which was a relief.

The green housecoat from Arcana is coming to the channel tomorrow, and then there will be the Patreon sewing video on the 20th, but there will not be a new video next Thursday, since usually everyone is away from their screen for the holiday anyways, and I will be out in California visiting my grandparents. I'll be back with the last few Arcana projects and some brand new stuff real soon! Thank you so much for your support ❤️

I was just rewatching this unboxing of the chain mail fashion fabric, and I suddenly found myself wondering why Kevlar hasn't become a home sewist's staple? You would think there would be a demand in the US so grammas could sent their grandkids to school in a kevlar quilted jacket. Maybe Kevlar couture fashion would be your viral breakout for the channel? 🤔

I imagine it is very expansive and not very breathable is all 😅 Easier to move to a nice European country instead!

The chartreuse and navy fabric is so gorgeous. Is there a link to it or is it sold out? 😬

Oohhh! Those are all so pretty. The laser cut felt spiderweb is really cool too! I'm looking forward to see whatever the spiderweb becomes part of!

So fun to see those fabrics! This is a photo of Gene Tierney in what I think is moire, maybe shot silk, but a mega-dega suit with all the 1940s shoulder pads haha. Every time I see it, I think of you : ) (try the link, hopefully it works) https://www.aenigma-images.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/gene-tierney-mirror.png

I covet that navy and chartreuse. I watched a tutorial of a reversible Hanbok wrap skirt and now I'm seeing every fabric through that lens. And I cannot wait to see what you do with that red and black. It looks like trees.

T
The Closet Historian · November 20, 2023

It does look a bit like black tree bark with lava inside 🤩

M
Marie Eaton-Smith · November 16, 2023

I cannot see the video, black screen only.

Weird! It is hosted on patreon directly instead of youtube, not sure why it wouldn't show up!
