Spoiler Alert // Sneak Peek at the Set in Progress!

I've been working on the set for this year's Halloween look book this week and I thought I would give you all a glimpse of the process! I will have a whole Side Husselen video coming up about designing and pulling this set together as well after Halloween 🎃

Tonight I will hopefully add a few more faux plants to the mix (some of these plants already here on set are real, they were cheaper than fake ones!), fix the misaligned brick pattern on the right side of the set, glue on a bit more moss, and screw on an exterior light/lantern buddy to the "wall". Then I will finalize the lighting set ups, finish making the burgundy dressing gown I'm making for this video, and will pull the rest of the outfits to style them this weekend...while also editing a different (very fun!) sewing video to debut on the channel for Monday 😅

Thank you SO MUCH for your support here on Patreon. Doing sets and props like this would be impossible without your help. For example, last year's Halloween look book video (A Happy Haunt) has been up for a year and has made $96 dollars on youtube total. It cost three times that just to invest in the new "pavement" style flooring you see here on set for this year's video. I will use this flooring anytime I need to do an exterior set from now on (also it is made from recycled rubber including Nike shoe cut offs? which is cool but does mean our basement smells a bit like a foot locker store now), truly an investment, but again...my work and creative process would not be possible without your support. I might beak down the total cost to build this set in the side husselen video just so people know how much goes into building something like this. Production like this is expensive, and I am still a one woman show, except of course for all of you. You are behind me, and it makes all the difference ❤️

It was the first time for me to hear you mention the Patreon platform on YouTube (actually never knew anything about it before now) and am very pleased to be able to support you. Look forward to having access to more behind the scenes info.

I may have checked for my name a few times at the end of your Le Bat en Rouge video 😂 it wasn't there so maybe my tier is too low 🤔 In any case it was a great video

T
The Closet Historian · October 27, 2022

Thank you Melissa! The Preparator tier ends up on screen, but all support makes the videos happen, and I really appreciate it!! ❤️

Wow, those cracks in the wall look AMAZING!

T
The Closet Historian · October 27, 2022

Thank you Laurel! I was nervous to paint them and very relieved it "worked" 😅

Debra B. Dixon · October 23, 2022

Now you’ve got your landscaping plan done for when you get your new house!🤣 Seriously, it looks great.

L
Laney · October 22, 2022

P. S. Did you paint the cracks on the wall and the moss on the bricks? Beautiful trompe l'oeil!

T
The Closet Historian · October 22, 2022

Yes! I was nervous about the cracks but I think it came out better than I expected!

Laney · October 22, 2022

How can you be working so hard when you've been sick?! I hope you're not over-doing it. Your set looks wonderfully spooky already. Looking forward to this latest fashion show.

T
The Closet Historian · October 22, 2022

Thank you Laney! The answer is I am determined and also very tired ✨

Bobbie Parham · October 22, 2022

You are extraordinarily creative. My husband just asked if you Mom was a big fan of "All My Children"? One of the main characters was named Bianca! Hope your recuperation is going well.

T
The Closet Historian · October 22, 2022

Thank you Bobbie! Not that I know of, she doesn't watch much else besides home and garden TV so I doubt it 😂

Wow, I would really love to know how you've built this set. I have so many questions! Just how how the different elements were done, also how do you store your set pieces? How much space do they take up, how are they mounted, how do you set them in place?. It looks so very very very believable, I love the cracks in the wall with the details of the bricks showing trough, as well as the weathering on the brick wall itself. How did you make the moss? Just wow. Too awed for words.

T
The Closet Historian · October 22, 2022

Thank you Radka! The moss is real moss that I glued between the bricks 😅💚 I store my set pieces in the same room, the set is in a big basement that is mostly unused otherwise as it is hard to heat down here!

Hi, So, it's Halloween already. I blinked and there is another year gone. The set looks so Halloweeny already and there is another 9 days to go, give or take. I can't wait for the finished thing in the upcoming lookbook. Yours, Ann

You are worth every penny and more. Would up my subscription but I’m from the UK and our economy is in meltdown and our politicians care more about attacking each other and point scoring than they do about the state of the country. If they ever get their act together I will invest more in you work. So thank you and keep it up <3

T
The Closet Historian · October 22, 2022

Thank you so much for your support Joanne! I'm sorry the UK is such a mess right now! ❤️

You could use some of your beadles and beaded spiders as little friends on the gravestones.

Hey you. Hey everybody. Started a new job, but I have been watching and reading your stuff. You are very talented and very glad to be an associate and a customer of yours. I'm very happy to have seen you on TV. Don't stop doing you.

T

Thank you Tinesha! Congratulations on the new job!

It always amazes me that the look book videos are not more popular… they are so detailed and interesting and fun. I don’t think people understand what delights await and skip them, which is tragic :) I always enjoy watching you sew and listening to the chat, but the look books are the best part of your channel, IMO! I’m glad to see Leonard prominently featured 💖💖💖 Maybe you could sell naming rights for the punkin loves to crazy pumpkin fans like me, lol. I’d do it. Not ashamed 😂

T
The Closet Historian · October 22, 2022

Thank you Susan! 🎃 Leonard is very at home with his fellows in the new graveyard ✨🍂🦇

Nic · October 22, 2022

It looks amazing! The moss adds such a nice touch. I’m excited to hopefully see a little behind the scenes in how you created this set up in your side husselin video! The lookbook will be amazing like always!!

T
The Closet Historian · October 22, 2022

Thank you Nic! Things really started to come to life with the moss 🤩

C
Colleen H · October 22, 2022

M
Mysmichelle · October 21, 2022

It looks awesome and I love it! It helps me when you break down what you actually have to do, because I know it's a lot but when you break it down it really lets me know exactly how my own process needs to be broken down - if that makes any sense even though I'm not doing the same thing! Thank you for your hard work ❤

T
The Closet Historian · October 22, 2022

Thank you Michelle! This set has been a rathe rout-of-order process due to sourcing materials for sure 😅
