Testing 1 2 3 // Submit styles for drafting demos?

I wish Pinterest had an option for this, an open board anyone could post to without having to approve each new user...but I don't think they do? So I've decided to give flickr a try.

I'm hoping to basically create a visual submission box where anyone can upload an image of a dress/pattern/style they'd like to see me demonstrate the pattern drafting for in the future. There are only so many styles I naturally gravitate towards when sewing for myself, but when it comes to demonstrating I'd love to experiment outside my wheelhouse to help everyone achieve the styles they desire!

So feel free to submit images of things you would like to see me draft over on the channel so that I can get a better idea of what people want to see next, and if this method works I will perhaps open up this suggestion box over on the channel to everybody else as well. Consider this the beta version of this idea, thanks for your help in testing ha!

I’d love to see how to take my master pattern into a coat and maybe a how to on the detachable sleeves/collars/cuffs.

I am loving two things right now that I'd love to know how to draft: the boxy styles of Nina Ricci from the mid-60s and the whole Gunne Sax revival that seems to be going on. I tried to upload to Flickr but wasn't too succesful, so I'll just ask. My question about the boxy styles (like the jacket in Vogue 1313) is how to get the ease required of the style to look right. When I make stuff like this, it tends to look like a sack. With the Gunne Sax styles, it's mostly a question of getting the sleeves right. Those fluffy sleeves look like a challenge. Anyway, those are my fitting wishes at the moment

I’d love to see something slightly different, a coat! There’s a GORGEOUS mint green coat with HUGE black buttons on the cover of Montgomery Wards Spring 1944 catalog and I have been dreaming about it since I saw it. Any coat in that catalog I’d die to make.

I would love to see a draft of a sort of crossed halter style! it seems common from the 30s to the 70s. I DM'd your instagram with some picture references :)

I uploaded photos but I wanted to be more descriptive on here. I REALLY want to understand how to draft early Tudor (Holbeins sketches) type gowns but more specifically the bodices. I really like the neckline and how its constructed in the back as well and despite making historical things Id love to be able to use it as a base for modern shirts a well with bishop sleeves and lace and whatnot but I just dont undERstAND??? Also I included a pierce of Mcgonagall fanart lol... I want to understand how to draft fitted wizarding cloaks and other things that would be worn in the wizarding world... like history meets HP world. I hope that makes sense... I also want to understand pigeon breasted bodices.... the shape and the yokes and the gathering and... I honestly think about it and I have an idea but I cant even begin to imagine what my individual pieces would look like. Its really frustrating because Ive been trying to work with this really slippy material to make a bodice that ends at the waist with a sort of waistband, back closing, gathers in the front but nowhere else besides the top of the bishop sleeves and the cuffs... and I have been struggling. It just isnt going together right and I feel like my pieces are all wrong and thats why they arent going together how I thought they would and Im struggling to know which step to do WHEN because of THAT so its ALL A MESS.

I'd love to see a tulip sleeve modification. I've got my eye on a few Agent Carter dresses I'd love to re-create and a lot of them have the tulip sleeve feature.

Would it be possible for you to create content on how to properly store other antique or vintage items and accessories? Like gloves, Fans, purses, belts, lingerie, clothing, jewelry, or any other vintage items you collect and preserve?

Hello, I don't have a flickr account, but anything with scallops would be my request please. Edit: and those multiple collared pieces 😍 and 1 shoulder bodices So much, sorry!

Tried to upload an idea and couldn’t find the upload feature on the web version or app version of flickr

Okay, well, I had all sorts of trouble starting a Flickr account (my Email wouldn't accept their verification Email, and when I tried to adjust my Email settings, I could not get another Flickr verification Email sent to me). Oh well. I was going to post a photo of a Hollywood Pattern I have, Hollywood #855. I love Hollywood patterns because the designs are inspired by items worn in films, which is old Hollywood meeting sewing, the best of both worlds in my opinion. It is a shirt-dress, which I know you normally don't love that style, but it was just so darn common in the 40s, so I would love to see you do more with them. I believe you recently did draft a similar bodice, but I would love to see the whole shebang, again, because this style was just so common. This pattern pretty much has it all...a yoke, gathering at the shoulder/yoke area, buttons, a little belt, a collar, pockets (which I also don't love & can live without). Just the whole nine yards!

Cool idea! I often come across an image and think to myself, I'd love to see B make this or I'd love to see how B would draft this or modify that. :)

I love whatever you do Bianca. I have probably typed it a million times but I have learnt so much from you about sewing and pattern drafting. I also just love watching your rambling, sewing over pins videos !!! I would love to see a recreation of the jacket that Cruella wore in the final scene of the live action movie with Emma Stone in it please - not really vintage, I know, but there was something about it that just grabbed my eye.

This is such an exciting idea! I LOVE it! I feel for you very much with the loss of your cat, and such awful timing as well. Thanks for sharing your journey with us.

Hi there. I would love for you to do the shirt that Audrey Hepburn is wearing in Roman Holiday whilst riding the Vespa. I think it has some pintucks happening in the shoulder

Hi Bianca, welcome back - not that you were ever away from posting. I’m really sorry about your old cat but what a lovely life - to be truely loved. I have been watching “Poirot” over on Acorn, everyone’s clothes are to die for, including the little Belgium himself. I would love to see an ivory crepe crossover dress with set-in sleeves. I thought you looked marvellous in the long white gown in the “Millener” . I’ll be happy to watch you make burlap bags to be honest.

Recently found some of my mom's designs from the late 40's early 50's when she was getting her BFA from William & Mary. Of these designs, I think the jumper and Mogayshal in red polkadot linen are my favorites.

I uploaded a few pictures of coats and especially big collars. I like to make one, but I have no idea how to make it.

Tbh I've been trying to figure out the green skirt Cyd Charisse wears in It's Always Fair Weather. The front hangs like a pencil skirt but when she dances the back opens up to allow more movement. Is it a gore? A pleated situation? A combination of both? 🤔

Oooh interesting! How about a skirt like mccall's 7464 or a dress like mccall's 4395 :D

Hi Bianca ! Thanks for including us in this quest! McCalls has a vintage dress pattern #8485 off the shoulder with a scalloped neckline (scalloped for extra fun and stress) that would be fun to learn how to draft. I love the look and would like to make it a top maybe...not something quite as fancy as the pattern shows. Hope you're well !

Hi Bianca! Just wanted to let you know how much I loved your ytvideo! I can hardly wait for the next one. I hope you're feeling better... I'm kinda digging the whole 'milkmaid' typa bodice at the mo, but I know it's not your jam (as Bernadette would say), but would be nice to figure out .. I'm working on it but it's taken a back seat to my more fall and winter type dresses. Oh! Last week or so you posted a message here rather than a podcast and stated something like .. you'll make it up to us..... or something like that. You must know Bianca (and I think I speak for all your patrons), that we don't support you to receive stuff from you, we support you because you have taught us all so much and want to show our appreciation to you. Don't ever feel you owe us anything!! (Ok, I might be speaking personally, but I am pretty sure I'm not alone is this). Ok, back to work now.. Take care B!

I uploaded a couple of photos of things that I've really wanted to make but am puzzled by how they are constructed. Also pants... can you do a drafting video of any kind of pant block pattern? I'm not sure how pants work either lol
