(Slightly) Early Access! Everybody's Lost // Field Notes Vol. 1

Whew! The first video of my travel diary is finished. It may not be a quick and flashy travel vlog with drone footage and dance tunes, but I want to be able to look back later on my trip so these videos will be as much for future me as they are to share with everyone else.

Of course I'm nervous to be trying something new on the channel, as this video has nothing to do with sewing or vintage fashion really, though you do get quick glimpses of my outfits from each day. Also it was interesting to come up against my own insecurities about not wearing makeup on camera.

I hope you enjoy this first look at what I have been up to these past couple of weeks.

Wow you got some great footage! Looking forward to seeing more. I thought you looked pretty darn cool even without your usual (fabulously done) made up face.

as much as I love the sewing videos this was lovely. I enjoyed all of the beauty you caught all around you. And, loved that you wore no make up! You were so real. You should be proud.

LOL Everybody's lost, but me. I'm a big Indiana Jones fan and I just showed my son that movie this summer and he loved it! Thank you for sharing your journey. I've lived several places in the U.S. and visited countless others, but I've never been to that area, so it was fun to see it with you. So cool you saw that rainbow! We saw amazing rainbows in Hawaii, and we get some pretty good ones where we live here in Georgia, and I still always get excited when I see one, like, it never gets old. :) :) All your outfits look great, and it's fun to see them in action. <3 <3 I own no makeup and wear none, so I'm all about a "no makeup" look anytime.

Thank you Mel! Southern Utah really has the most amazing landscapes, I only just scratched the surface of the places to see there!

Your movie (yes, I will call it a movie its so spectacular) is beautiful, but more importantly is that you are beautiful, make up or no make up. And besides, make up is something to have fun with, not some mandatory thing.

T
The Closet Historian · October 8, 2021

Thank you Dalana!

MYRA L DANIEL · October 7, 2021

Really loved this, Bianca! It felt like going back to visit these places with a friend. Looking forward to next installment.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing this extraordinary nature. Also I deeply appreciate not only the nerd notes, but the moving information about native peoples and what happened to them during colonization. You probably have already completed other videos, but it would be awesome to have a sound cue before the speeded up car stuff, with another cue for when you go back to regular images. Migraines and their triggers being what they are. Your choice of music soundtrack was really extraordinary for this. It felt like you had a real camera upgrade - the detail was *chef’s kiss!

T
The Closet Historian · October 8, 2021

Thank you Thea! I wouldn't have thought sped up car stuff presented a problem so that is good to know for the future!

This was lovely. Thank you so much Bianca for taking the trouble to film your travels and put this film together.

You are a gift...... I woke this morning with a migraine and a grumpy disposition but your Field Notes have brightened up my day immeasurably. The music, the views, your informative voice-overs and amusing asides - it's all just delightful and I await the next installment impatiently. Thank-you.

The Closet Historian · October 8, 2021

Thank you Audra!

Hi, Thank you! This is pretty remarkable. Such beauty in, for me, an almost erie way. I think your choice of music might have helped (Good Job!). Well if this YouTube gig you're doing doesn't work out, you could go work for National Geographic or better yet BBC. You can film, edit and host like a pro. You're even a real human being that doesn't wake up fully made up, and you care more about your skin health than looking "perfect". I love the personality of you as a presenter, and it really comes to light perfectly in your choice of wardrobe. This could be your style just as much as the blue shirt and khaki trousers was sir David Attenborough's. I've heard a saying: Take nothing but memories, and leave nothing but footprints. I see that you are doing just that, which I really love. I can hardly wait for your next episode, and I'll be watching this again in a short while. Yours, Ann

Thank you Ann! More episodes coming soon!

I went to Itasca last month (State Park in MN that is the Mississippi headwaters) and it reinforced my love of edge-of-season travel. School had started the week before so there were way fewer families and kids than during the summer, just retirees and people with tiny babies. If you're into touristy stuff, House On the Rock is epic the weekend before Memorial Day, especially if you stay in their hotel.

T
The Closet Historian · October 8, 2021

I had never heard of House on the Rock and it looks truly bonkers so that's definitely going on my to-visit list!

Just wow. I know this is just part 1 but I am just in thrall of this video. I've been to the States (I'm english) but only New York, San Francisco and the Big Sur. As lovely as the Big Sur is, i never thought America had such amazingly stunning areas of natural beauty. Thank you so much for filming and posting this so I can live vicariously through you! ❤ oh and you look great with or without make-up 😁

T
The Closet Historian · October 8, 2021

Thank you Beverley! I hope that soon I can make some field notes from London and the UK, as it's been almost a decade since I last visited and I love it there ❤

Last thing to watch before I start a busy day. Clicks on to a travel video, thinks, " I doubt I will make it past 5 minutes of this". 41 minutes later after a truly breathtaking tip hosted by someone who actually does look glam without make up and is certainly brave, I am speechless. The motels look exactly like they do in films. The vastness of the scenery and the height of those cliffs. The whole thing is just amazing. Looking at little bushes only to find they are trees certainly helped with perspective. Te waterfalls , the caves, the blister stories. I loved it all. Now I wish I was super rich because I'd be paying you to make more of these kind of videos too. You are very talented. It was all perfect. Thank you so much for taking the time to edit this and put it up for us to see.

T
The Closet Historian · October 8, 2021

Thank you!! I do hope to do more travel in the future, so hopefully this wont be my last set of field notes ❤

Victoria Golos · October 7, 2021

Wow Bianca, you never cease to amaze and surprise! Great footage; Your choice music clips were perfection. Makeup or not, you are a real beauty. And brave...ha! Can't wait to see Field Notes part II.

Was very surprised when I saw the Swedish flag in that first town. Had me do a second take to make sure I saw correctly :P

It was an "international" Christmas shop selling holiday things from around the world I believe 😂

Margo · October 7, 2021

Amazing views and so well done…although I did stop breathing when you were on the two lookouts over the falls although it is the best way to see them! Thank you for sharing the adventure!

T
The Closet Historian · October 8, 2021

Thanks Margo! I have found that heights don't bother me unless I'm in the car? If I'm standing on a cliff, no problem, if I am driving alongside cliffs? No thanks. My brain must trust my feet more than my driving 😅

Rhonda O'Dea · October 7, 2021

First up - you still look gorgeous rocking 'am on holidays and enjoying myself' look. The time it takes to do makeup is less time to see and do. Second up - I want to thank you for showing this Aussie girl places I'll probably never see in person. Really loved this...and to see the rain in the desert, now that is very special!! Your vlog is really good!! Entertaining and well put together!! Wonder if some of the sites are sacred places to the Ute people. There are many sites in Australia that are sacred land to the Aboriginal, though Europeans have long taken over them without regard. I am glad that you are home safe. Sending hugs for the loss of beautiful Cleo, and resting, healing vibes from Down Under 💚🌺🇦🇺😎

T
The Closet Historian · October 8, 2021

Thank you Rhonda ❤ Rain seemed to be following me around on this trip so this isn't the last stormy sky to see. I'm sure Arches is sacred to many groups, the park actually invited representatives from several tribes to share their connections with the land https://www.nps.gov/articles/arch-eoa.htm

There are soooo many moments in this that are great: backside of water, the pretty scenery, oops it’s all thorns, you rocking those cool sunglasses, double rainbow!…I can't list them all. You shouldn’t be nervous or second guess yourself, this is a great video!

T
The Closet Historian · October 8, 2021

Thank you! The double rainbow was such a surprise. I was driving back out of the park when BAM huge rainbow, the brightest I have ever seen, so I pulled over right away to take it in!

Oh my goodness... Love the cinematography and the opening shots. I'm laughing so much I love it... YES to the steam train trip... I'm loving this style of content. I'm learning so much about Colorado.

T
The Closet Historian · October 8, 2021

Thanks Stephanie! I do want to go on that train again, though the best time would probably be in late September when the leaves are changing, so perhaps next year!

Dearest Bianca, words cannot express how beautiful & gorgeous the scenery is that you shot on this part of your trip. You look beautiful even sans makeup so don’t worry, please!!! The best fashion accessory a glam gal like you can have is a great hat (✅). and great prescription sunglasses (✅✅). You look very stylish. I just bought a new pair of sneakers for a trip to New Jersey for mother in law’s 90th birthday and wore them to get my 3rd Covid shot & flu shot in the same arm (not recommended) and during the 5 minute trip to the CVS & back, I got bleeding blisters. I sympathize greatly with your blisters. I am glad you are home again safely with a storehouse of memories & videos. Again sending lots of love & hugs over the loss of dearest Cleo. Love ya, Alice ♥️♥️♥️🤠🤠🤠🐴🐴🐴

T
The Closet Historian · October 8, 2021

Thank you Alice! I'm sorry your sneakers attacked, shoes can be so rude that way!
