The Torso Block // The How To (Without the Accompanying Rant)
I thought some folks might want access to the torso block tutorial-ish bit of the upcoming Drafting Dangerous video without the other 10 page rant. So if for some reason you still want to make a torso block after all of my sass, this video has my process isolated from the rest!
(also: Hello Patrons! I'm going to make this funny little video accessible to all, as it is just the center section of the next volume of Drafting Dangerous. Thank you for your support! I will be right back with a dress project video...as soon as my neighbor cuts it out with the obnoxious loud yardwork!!)

Funny how we interpret our proportions. I'm team no waist seam/empire waist. I have a huge difference between my tiny waist and large glutes, but I have no hips. The waist seam only emphasizes that, so even though I have like a 13 inch difference on the bottom and 9 on top, the fisheye dart and princess line is just more flattering to look at. So thank you for suffering to help team fisheye!
Looking forward to the rant ;)
You know they do have a tool you can use to pull up your zipper... Not a lot of strain involved.
My girls are considered "H", but I don't like to have a defined waist in my dresses. Maybe that is because I could never find a dress that has a defined waist that I liked the fit of? Even when I made the dress. I also like more ease in my dresses. I can make a pattern and dress that I like the fit of with princess seams or with fisheye darts in the back but not the front. I usually end up with fisheye in the back and a side dart and an under bust dart/gored skirt combo in the front. It works. We all have to find a way to feel like ourselves.
you can tie a long ribbon loop onto a big safety pin and pin the tab of your zipper so you can use the loop to grab the top of your zipper to zip all the way without killing yourself.
But I like your sass! I could read a dull textbook to learn this, or I could watch an opinionated, entertaining, and informative YouTuber who is much more inspiring.
I see what you mean about its usability. I agree that a waist and skirt block seem good for someone with a larger bust Thanks for going thru the motions for us! I never did enjoy a fisheye darted garment on myself, and now I can understand why.
…thanks for the extra effort. I’ll wait for the rant, though! <3
The closest I have come to using something like this is a "shoulder princess dress". No waist seam. It fits my 38DD girls well. My best friend has a dancers body. Her 34As looks fab in a sheath dress with little double ended darts. I agree, usage comes down to body type.
OUCH! - your figure!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for putting yourself through that for our benefit! I'm looking forward to seeing the ranty version, as this version has already persuaded me I probably don't need a torso block
I think the waist block gives you more precise control of fit and the "torso" block is for someone who doesn't mind that much about ease. It did look like it fit pretty well after the 2nd attempt, but I think I agree with you about preferring the waist block. I am also a bigger chested human and that seemed like a lot of fuss for minimal reward. Thank you for figuring that out for me! And as alwas thank you for sharing ❤️
I really struggle to see what you are doing.
