I'm so happy for you that life is going so well and waking is helping! If you're brother is right about the water, you can't tell him. That would be shading the sibling code, to acquiesce to him being correct! 🤣😂🤣 Absolutely loving watching your house come together. I hope to one day have my own little Maximillist Haven of Doom! If you do hear up to Vermont, check out Claremont Spice and Dry Goods. A lovely friend of mine loves in New Hampshire and he took me there when I visited from Australia last. It's a wonderful haven of deliciousness. https://share.google/grM4Iut5mZkn80t2e

I sent you a message with some suggestions for places to visit in VT 😊

Thank you Emily!! Seeing as I haven't even gotten to my DMs, I also sadly have not yet visited Vermont either 🥲❤️

Walks and water, so good for the body! Like you, I eat mostly plant based while I'm at home.. I've been cooking Quinoa in the rice cooker and putting it in a burrito with black beans and avocado. You might keep some nutritional yeast ("nooch" is the slang) around to sprinkle in meals. It's loaded with nutrients and Vitamin B12, which plants do not naturally have. It kinda stinks, but I never notice it once it's in the meal. October, yay, my favourite month, too!🎃

I sorta want a rice cooker for Christmas 😂 Somehow I often mess up rice...even though it's so simple, not for me!!

An early American-ish kitchen witch vibe is the feeling I got from your Pinterest board. Ah, coffee & pumpkin. 2 things I love the smell of but can't stand the taste. Why can't it be fall from August to March?

I agree that your dining room mood board is giving seance vibes lol. It'll look so cool when your done! I love the tiles, there's just something so nice about a good patterned black and white tile. I saved the recipes as well! My sister and I love to cook, it'll be fun to try them out. Thanks for sharing!

Congrats on keeping up the daily walks! Have you spotted many zinc monuments? I didn't know they were a thing until this year when Greedy Peasant posted about them a lot, and I've spotted 3 from around the turn of the century.

T
The Closet Historian · October 13, 2025

Thank you! I have not spotted much zinc no, mostly granite which does well in the weather I suppose ❄️

My in-house stained glass artist recommends Fremont Antique Glass Company. It's all traditionally hand-blown and they have the prettiest colors and textures and patterns. They're tagline is apparently "sheet glass the old-fashioned way." Very on brand for a 1890s house, in my opinion!

T

That sounds waaaay too tempting!

Pumpkin Spice Girlie here too. Autumn is always in my heart. I hope you make it up to my home state of Maine at some point. I think you will enjoy antiquing along Route 1 and make it to Acadia National Park. It's all a bit over touristy, but what isn't these days? It doesn't diminish the beauty of my state.

I wish! Bit too long for a day trip so I would have to fly my brother out to watch my cats lol

Thanks B, I must say that you sound much more positive in this update, and it is very pleasing to hear. So good to hear that you are managing to have a daily walk too. It definitely helps a person to feel better, and it works for me anyway. Hugs

The three weeks we have Fall, I absolutely love. Perfect weather, comfy clothes...what's not to love? Also? Soup. Alllll the soups. It's time to break out the slow cooker. Love the tile, very classic and classy. The whole deal with the linoleum blows my mind. That four piece silver tea set you have on your dining room board is gorgeous, btw.

T
The Closet Historian · October 13, 2025

I wish I could snap up that tea set!! 🥲

Absolutely a fall girlie! Cozy vibes, pumpkin spice, fog and spiderweb and bat fabrics abound! Just picked up some tulle with flocked bats on it that I’m hoping to make a longline bra from which I think will look spectacular:) Can’t wait to see more of the house come together. You’re doing an amazing job of it! Also looking forward to skirt styles. The drafting dangerous series has been so good!

T
The Closet Historian · October 13, 2025

Thank you!! Everyone loves a flocked bat 🦇

I am a spring and summer girlie. While I do love Halloween I do not enjoy the short days and the cold. But I live in Vancouver and you will be colder than I

Also looooovE the tile inspo that Is exactly What I was envisioning when you first said b&w tile. If marble is still out of budget you could consider porcelain marble look tile…

A
Anita Hebert · September 30, 2025

Love the inspo tiles, exactly what I would have picked for that space. Our floors have several layers of old linoleum upstairs, under wall to wall carpet. I dont think we will ever try to pull the linoleum up, too much work and it may have asbestos, so no thanks. 😬

T
The Closet Historian · October 13, 2025

The 20th century really has so much to answer for in the flooring department 🥲

For your sconces, may I recommend the battery operated real wax coated LED tapers? When my SIL first gave them to me, I turned my nose up at them (of COURSE I want real candles!), but set them out 'cuz she was coming to visit - and MY GOODNESS i loved them! I now have about twenty for my sconces and candle sticks. They go on automatically when I set them for (usually around dusk) and turn off when I set them. I use rechargeable batteries. I never have to worry about setting my cats on fire, and of course I can switch to real fire candles for special occasions.

T
The Closet Historian · October 13, 2025

I have dozens of LED tapers I promise! I would be way too scared to have real flames near the walls eek 😅

Saving for tomorrow 💕 but ooo’d a bit over the pinterest board!
