Retro Drafting Demo and Reno Updates ✨
Whew! I've been painting and prepping and ahhh no look at the time!!
Now I'm dashing out to the airport to pick up my brother, who will be visiting my house for the first time. I certainly hope we will get up to some fall colored adventures over the next several days, and I'll try and share some snaps of the orange leaves with you soon.
I was going to make a different variation on the purple silk dress I made on the channel recently for this month's video, but when I went to lay out the pieces on my metallic linen...I was juuuust shy of being able to cut it all out. Well that threw a spanner in the works, as they say, and I had to come up with a plan B! Which was to demonstrate this retro design, but then I could only get through the drafting in time and not the stitching. I will sew up both designs for you next month ❤️🎃
Thank you for your patience and support!

Linoleum flooring…Word-ing is hard sometimes, huh?💙😊
That kitchen floor is some fabulous landlord magic, but unless they were renting the house out, they were doing it to themselves....
Believe me, the confounding choices abounded in this place 🤔
Hope your visit with your brother goes well. And I absolutely feel starting a project and getting distracted by a dozen different things. I often procrastinate a new project by finishing or working on an old one lol. But your colors are lovely! And its worth the time and monet for your happiness and sanity lol. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Tiffany! I am becoming more of a start-before-I-finish-the-last-er this year and it's noooot a cute look for me! Must finish things oof
Nice patterndrafting demo, raglan and strong shoulder are not always easy together, so I'm looking forward to the dress to get inspiration. Btw: find myself watching the synapse-lookbook (2022) over and over again. Think this is a real masterpiece, seriously, even though all your lookbooks are great. Just wanted to let you know that synapse changed my style in a way I didn't think was possible. Thank you!
Thank you!! I certainly miss making lookbooks/collections, but the house is luckily keeping me busy ❤️
Oliver is such a good helper/assistant. We need to couture-ify his name to Olivier. So happy for your progress and that you are able to share it with your brother.
Hope you have a great time with your brother! Can't wait to see what you make instead.
Love getting a new TCH video on my birthday 😁 everything's coming along so nicely! Can't wait to see the sewing demo! 🥰
I hope you enjoy the visit with your brother.. Love the new decorating video.
Thank you Marie!
I hope you a
Love the new milk glass light! I can’t wait to see how this area will turn out even if it’s only there temporarily. I had painted tile in our bathroom (there was no backsplash or wall tiles) until we were ready to renovate the whole thing… 18 years later 😬😂 If those tiles are 9x9 beware of asbestos. I wonder if you got some black and white peel and stick for the floors. I mean it’s not super high end but easy to install and might look okay
Thank you! The tiles are 12x12, some are modern and most are 1970s, but I'll wear a mask when I chisel them off regardless ✨
I totally feel you on the floor situation. We still have the same tile from the original installation 40 years ago...only the kitchen has been redone due to a leak. It's just so expensive to redo anything now....and now they are going to knock down the whole building and rebuild, so we're not spending any money at all on it. The paint colors are fun and the designs are fantastic, as always. Those ceiling lamps are gorgeous, by the way. Enjoy your brother's visit :-)
Thank you Keren!!
And I thought my linoleum kitchen floor was aggresively 70's! I know they didn't have google or youtube university back then, but geez. I can't believe that was their solution for peeling floor tiles! I assume they blindly grabbed the first 12" tiles they saw, or insisted on the ones that were on clearance? Poor choices were made
I used to work at the Home Depot in the flooring section. Guaranteed these were clearance tiles
Random mention, I don't know where in upstate NY you're at, but in Albany the historical society had a nice salvage shop that may have some good stuff for your house. I have a feeling it's going to be a regular destination for me as I try to bring back some charm to my house (built in 1870, but remodeled in 2022) also I love the light it's been in my cart of maybes for ages. Need to replace the basic builder chandelier thing the remodelers out on the stairwell of my house
Great idea!
Surprise video! Oh my goodness, that is some /sad/ flooring! And even a cute rug wouldn't help because of the location. The green paint is just a wonderful touch. Well done, B!
Thank you Kenzie!
