Liquid Glass Shine Hooded Jacket ✨

The hood had to be reined in pals 😂 I am surprised just /how/ shiny this particular fabric looks while being worn. This textile isn't even the fancy shmancy version of this stuff! I also kind of want to try this type of hood with my other favorite jacket pattern now...But first I've got to finish up a silk dress for the channel for next week!

Thank you for your kind messages/comments and continued support ❤

Just commenting to save thank you you are a lifesaver. I have a Larp next month which snuck up on me. I know I need a costume for a cultist and really the only requirement is big hood. But I don't want to do a cloak. I have two cloaks I don't need three. So I think I am going to go with a jacket with a hood. So even seeing you work through examples with smaller hoods gives me such a good idea what it could look like in the end.

Ah yeah, the good old, do I want to be them or do I want to date them. Honestly, I can never figure it out. Probably why I have such a hard time finding my old style because the women I have that with are all so different. I wanted to try out that collar for a house jacket, something you can really snuggle away in but is still sort of stylish for those few times a delivery person rings the doorbell asking if they can drop off packages for the neighbours (and then for when the neighbours stop buy to get those packages) But now I think the hood might not be an option but a must, more snuggle fabric. Too bad we don't have a hot topic here because I think an arcane shirt might have just been perfect for underneath that planned housecoat. And to be honest I love these chatty videos where you just say what's on your mind, like the podcasts. Maybe if it was a more complicated design it can be more tutorial like? (But to be honest, do we need that during the construction bit, unless it's a more difficult construction bit, I think if the design is new or more difficult, a more tutorial style for the pattern drafting bit than for the construction bit it's whatever. I am also someone who learned to do whatever the hell looked logical construction wise because while I started sowing with commercial patterns at a young age, I never knew there were construction directions, I always thought there was a picture and the pattern and my dyslexic ass wasn't going to read any more than needed to know how many meters of fabric I needed, so only like 10 years later my sister asked me how to do something because the directions on the pattern weren't clear and I just looked confused because there were directions? Anyway, still don't look at those (but also don't use commercial patterns anymore, thank you for that, now I actually like what I make. This sure was a novel, sorry for that.

I have exactly the same thought pattern - compassion and care and grace for others, harshness, unreasonable expectations, and mean self-talk for myself. It’s not a fun brain malfunction…but identifying and naming it is a first step towards change! I love the mix of commentary/conversation and sewing instruction in your videos :)

Yes female deer will be aggressive after they have a fawn. My city has city deer lol, I live pretty dead center of town and see deer in my yard at least once a week. City deer have no fear, they do not care about people or even dogs very much. They eat everyone’s garden.

Not sure if this is a good place to post—you just did the skirt block video on the regular channel. Something I would really love to see is dart manipulation in skirts (ie, waist darts for butt fullness) I think that that would be a cool design feature. I don’t know that I fully understand how darts work in a skirt to be able to move them the same way that you can move bust darts (is there a butt apex???)

Oooo! I love how this one turned out. I'd love to try doing some fabric manipulation. I have been doing an audit of all my fabric and I have 10m of copper/green shot taffeta that I need to make into something fabulous. Thank you for the inspiration!

1996 is the last year for millennials. Also that fabric is crazy awesome. The way it creates the affect all across the jacket, *chef's kiss*. Thanks for sharing

that fabric is very cool, also really nice on accentuating the shape of the jacket nicely. Very flattering.

I'm all for revisiting old projects! There was one where you did a dress with a casket inlay, but it had to be upside down, and I think I've figured out how to do it right side up but need to revisit and of course make time to play (what is time)...

how absolutely stunning miss bianca!!! i loved every second!!! ps: if you're wondering whether you should change your videos so that they're only instructional + only chatty pls dont!! i love the mix!! makes every video informative but also like im being explained it by a friend :) I have no idea how you managed to sew up that jacket so quickly (ive been picking away at one myself for half the month of august) tho i suppose your blocks probably fit a little bit better than mine and you know what you're doing so it's more sewing up and less faffing about with more and more mockups haha. I was wondering--- i don't know if i've suggested this before so forgive me if i have, but i think something great for you to do would be to create a discord server for patrons!! They're fairly common amongst artist youtube communities. You wouldn't have to be in it that much, but it would be a great place for all of us to pick each other's brains about our own projects (i know no one who sews irl lol so it'd be really helpful for all of us fairly newbies who often struggle haha) You might obviously not have the expertise or the time to help everybody with their own fit issues, but perhaps together someone would know something to help someone at all points in time haha anyways just a suggestion!!! <3 always love your work!!!! Happy September!

Yay for walks! They sure do me a lot of good. Not much of a cook here (though l love to eat😅) but beans are super healthy and cheap, too! Black beans, pintos and white kidney beans are my favourite. I haven’t done it myself, but you could make a kind of meat ball out of them if you mash them up. I also use the rice cooker a lot for lentils, especially in the winter. These foods can be pretty bland on their own, but I do love sauces and find that with a couple choices on hand, an easy, quick, low cost meal can be pretty tasty. I do love Frank’s hot sauce, and there’s a buffalo sauce here in Canada that I love to pour a little bit on beans right out of the can. Keeping it classy!😅 A lovely hood/jacket!

It's lovely! I must find a project to do those twisty fabric strips on someday. Congrats on getting out for so many walks! The wonderful Greedy Peasant has been posting about how it's Cemtember, which must be celebrated by going to historic cemeteries and admiring them, so I should do more of that too.

recipe recommendation: chickpea (=protein) curry with coconut milk and tomato paste/sauce, ginger, garlic and anything you want to add very yummy and quiet fast to make. My recipe is in german and a horrendous long link, so maybe easier if you google a english one. Hope you try it and like it! : )

Morning Bianca! Your jacket is fabulous, and I love the twisty thingies on the back, they're amazing! Yey to the walks. I started walking at the start of the panini, and I love it. I enjoy the birds and all the front gardens I pass. And I'm jealous of all your old cemeteries, I only have one!! 🤩😍🤗

For the love of all that is holy (tea), don’t stop rambling. The fabric is gorgeous and I want some. I do enjoy watching you create variations of a pattern, it inspires ideas. Re: tattoo… if you make it down to Philadelphia, Philadelphia Eddies is a good place to go.

Whipstitchnic · September 1, 2025

Umm I love when you sew and ramble and was just saying to my partner how much I love your narration (you have such a a relaxing voice!!) please ramble away. This jacket is sooooo good and definitely here for more Andor-inspired makes, I still can’t get over how good the costumes were. Question: when did you stop sewing over pins? I feel so alone in my quiet pin-sewing rebellion now One more thought: when I was lifting I ate a lot of Vega protein powder made from pea protein and totally works so you don’t have to eat more meat!

J
Julie Tokumaru · August 31, 2025

I love it when you ramble. I like to ramble, I wonder if anyone would like to listen to me... I'm still trying to catch up on my everyday dresses, then I have to figure out yoga clothes. It seems when you turn 60 the body decides to force one to exercise with threats of nerve damage. Believe me, yoga is a far cry better than nerve damage. Which means I must learn to work with knit fabric. Maybe one day I can make some jackets like yours, but in the meantime, I am content to watch you. Oh, yes, walking, especially in a lovely cemetery, is very good for your mental health.

Ah yes, self compassion: what a concept. Not in this economy, literally. Self awareness does help, but as you suggest, it’s not enough by itself. (My counsellor is always commenting on my self awareness, and I quite often feel frustrated because okay, yes, I’m self aware: but it doesn’t stop me being mean to myself!)

I recommend the Impossible "chicken" nuggets. They are the best. I like using them for a vegan copycat orange chicken (let me know if you want the recipe)

If/when looking for a therapist in the future, please please please avoid BetterHelp. I know they have a lot of influencer discount codes around, but they are quite abusive to the therapists. If that's the only thing available, that's fine, but I wouldn't make it your choice 💚

Speaking of jamming to music, might I recommend Caroline Kingsbury and Haute and Freddy. If you like MUNA and Florence, and sapphic pop music, I think you'd like both of those artists 💙

When you're out and about wearing your own designs, has anyone ever oohed and aahed over your clothes and asked from where you purchased them?

Guilt over not being productive is SO late-stage capitalism... It's a thing, and a hard habit to break. Give yourself grace, cause the small gods know we do! <3 Also, love love love this fabric...need to find it for me in moss green to play with the skeletal aspects

I love how the hood/cowl turned out, the jackets you do are my favorite designs. Would you please consider posting an image of the final set of pattern peices laid out, for us patrons please? Having the final outlines of all the components would be a useful guide to draft my own version.

If I ever do a Harrow the Ninth cosplay I'm going to have to try that twisting technique with white fabric on black background. Good tip - thank you! And beautiful jacket, as always.

C
Chae Howard · September 1, 2025

Ohhh that's so smart! Doing an ivory twist over black would give it big Harrowhark energy 💀

Hi Bianca - Sending a virtual cat rub & as someone who has moved a lot in her life, there are unsettling moments and downsides that show up. That is all fairly normal after an uprooting, if that helps? I have moved to a foreign country because I fell in love with a farmer & all the folks are settled in here, so making new friends is difficult. I consider myself lucky to have my hobbies & interests to keep me going. And yes my garden & the farmwork get me outside into the sunshine and that does help my mood. When I lived alone, for most of my adult life (married at 45, now 56) my cat was my warm furry love. I was so down often because I worried I would never find a soulmate, and then I let go of that & had made plans for a satisfying life on my own… & so that gave me a sort of peace? I like knowing I lived on my own. I agree one has to listen to the pull inside to create/write or risk depression. I agree with what others say… I love your videos & don’t watch the calendar, just drop everything to watch them. And I am a patron because I learn constantly from you & I find myself daring more… and yet my production cannot come close to yours so there is no fear that if you slowed down a notch that I would disappear - far from it. And ah - that last video you made about how you want your clothes to make you feel… that hit deep & hard so thank you! I feel like I ought to have realized… when I was younger I played more with that… but over time, I lost touch with that. So you really pushed my borders back a bit and I want to say thank you. I am rooting for you…. and hoping you can allow yourself to consider writing as mental wellness and self care and take time to write….because your mental & overall wellness is important to those of us who hope to enjoy your content for years to come. So the inner critic pushing you, she needs to be told no, not cool. Because if she pushes you too far, that is not healthy! & none of us wants that. Plain & simple. You are enough, more than enough and you are a beautiful gift to my life, so thank you. I hope the walks help and I hope you find a balance & peace. Big moves, house renovations, loss of support network from the move…. not entirely, I know, but in part… these are huge life hurdles/changes. So go gentle on yourself. That is necessary…. settling in takes time. I suspect some of your expectations for how quickly that ought to occur may be sky high? When the reality is pacing yourself is important? And slowing down to breathe and appreciate, and also going back to the writing & walks as self care…. oh! Do you have a sun room there? What about a writing retreat room? A place that is a vacation room, reminiscent of the gardens in Denver & family photos…cliché but the visual reminder one has family & loved ones is actually mentally healthy & put something up that reminds you of us there too 😂☺️ a place that is a hug to walk into and write and be a balm to the soul? But a room to write in that combines the outdoors in a conservatory feel & warm fuzzies cuz the need is real, kitty friendly but also a writing haven and when you are in there, you are “on vacation” for a few hours to a day of writing? Or it could be a warm dark hug if a writing room, whichever speaks to your soul most. But make the dedicated space for it. That is a huge gift to yourself. You may have a desk in a corner & do video editting & also writing… but maybe a splurge on a second computer just for writing? Just a thought? Weird but maybe it could help? & if there is fruit in this comment, pls enjoy. If not, let it slip away & just know I am one who is cheering you on. Best always, Lynne

Pom-poms, genius! And don’t worry about repeating anything, you never do exactly the same thing twice, even if you are making a similar item.
