Summer Snow Priestess Jacket 😅 // Hooded Pattern Variation
If I ever manage to make a project that is seasonally appropriate to that same actual calendar moment...it is a fluke.
I've got a silver stone-textured-look brocade in my stash that I want to make into a full on coat soon, but first I've got to figure out the perfect hooded style ✨ This version needs a little reigning in next time!

I’ve rocked out at my piano to Florence and the Machine, too. Always fun to hear about your musical tastes. You might enjoy the group, Haute and Freddy, plus their costumes are very historically inspired.🎵
I'll check them out!!
Gorgeous 🌹
Thank you!!
I’m picturing that outfit with suede boots and matching suede gloves. Kind of a “I’m at an ice skating party but I’m going watch from the sidelines and drink hot chocolate while looking glamorous” vibe.
This is my vibe, I /can/ ski, but I'd rather hot chocolate in the lodge 😂
It is absolutely seasonally appropriate....for us down here in southern hemisphere! Very appreciated by your Australian snow fairies who are currently rugged up and struggling with the cold ❄️❄️
Seconded from NZ 😆
I made my poor husband pause the second season of Andor so much so I could ‘ooh’ & ‘aah’ over the costumes and exclaim about how much work must have gone into them. Thank you for being one of ‘my people’.
They did such great work on that show!! I fear I'll never get such great Star Wars again 😩✨
I love the hood but can see why you may want to make it slightly smaller for a more wearable coat for the future. But I do love it when its up and folded back. Very lovely indeed!
Thank you Amy! It's a big "much" for normal clothes, but I'll see what I can do 😂
I love this jacket and the hood is divine. For a few minutes, the lining fabric looked like fur, but then I remembered that it is hot in NY ! I love it.
Thank you Marie! It's sorta like crushed tin foil textured 😂 I have a nice faux fur in my stash right now to make a faux 40's coat sometime ✨
I love the hood, too. Hoods are great even if you never wear it up. They just have a magic of their own. I too, would love to see you make a dress with a front without a waist seam. I can't stand a waist seam on my belly. They are fine in the back but in front, no. As you might imagine, I have trouble finding patterns or garments with this option.
Thank you Julie! I am a major waist seam devotee personally, but I promise I'll make torso blocks on the channel for Drafting Dangerous ✨
I love it!! The oversized hood is fantastical and dreamy even when down. I agree the silver should be on the lapel too. Oliver is wonderful. So nice to see him as foreman and quality control. I personally would love to see a double ended front dart not waist seem with a cowl neck crepe dress using the blue slip as an under dress you made a few years ago. Thank you for all you do <3
Thank you Tiana! Oliver is very committed to assisting in the sewing parlor, he was a little /too/ involved just earlier today 😩✨
Are there snow fairies whose 4 previous husbands died under suspicious circumstances? Because that is the vibe I’m getting, and I love it. Another thing I love? Prime Fabrics. Definitely visit them when you finally make your Garment District pilgrimage! My most recent project used fabric I bought from them: a large-scale red coral print against a muted navy background. It wasn’t cheap, but man, is it delicious.
Thank you Laurel! Femme Fatale frozen fae goals. I think if I went to a physical location with fabrics that good I would go bankrupt 🤣 I need to save up for a year to finally visit the fabric shops in NY!
I have a 1970s hoodie pattern. The whole thing could fit inside yours with room to spare! It came out gorgeous and has given me ideas on how to modify mine.
This hood is as big as the rest of the jacket 🤣
The original coat video is one of my favorites because it's magical to watch it come together! This iteration does not disappoint! Perfect garb for a walk to the mailbox, really. :-)
I am honestly just trying to make a hooded version so I will /stop/ using the original for everything because I am too tempted!! Thank you Theo!
For what it's worth, I get my crispy unbleached muslin from Wawak in 5 yd increments. IDK if it's at mood level, probably not, but you might find it worth a try, especially if it's cheaper.
I will have to try theirs!! I always need more muslin becuase I use it for interlining all the dang time. I can't stop making jackets anymore, they are simply my favorite 😅
So sparkly! I love the hood addition to this pattern, it looks so cosy even if it's in sparkly lurex fancy fabric. Oliver's chirps are very cute.
Thank you Sarah! It's a cozy jacket for glam space station galas where it gets chilly 😅✨
Oh, wow! It's gorgeous. I can't wait to see the revisions.
Thank you!! I'm working on the next version now down in the sewing parlor 💜
The hood folded back is a purrfect Inuit-style hood carrier for Oliver to ride around in! Its called an amauti. So it's very ice princess indeed! ❄️
He is not careful enough with his needle feet to be allowed near lurex sadly 🤣
It is beautiful! I can’t wait to see what changes you decide to make. Also, Oliver might be the world’s most adorable shop supervisor!💜
Thank you Concetta! He is very committed to his new day job 💜
