Flocked Floral Flared Frock // Bow-ish Neckline & Square Sleeves

Hello there! I finally got the dress I started working on in last month's video together. Luckily a clever patron knew of another source for vintage pattern images and found this buddy here also: https://copa.apps.uri.edu/garmentPatNum.php?patID=33967&patternid=9348 so we can get an idea of what their sleeve looks like as well. I think I could play around with the pattern some more and get these even closer to the illustration, but a subtler square is also sorta nice!

Thank you for your support ❤ Hopefully I can show you a preview of the shoe closet soon, I'll be painting it all day today! I just can't wait to unpack the rest of my closet 🤩

Maybe your house has a guest or two who are.....mortally challenged, shall we say? Could be why your batteries are draining. Also, who's going to zip your zippers now that Mom isn't upstairs? You may have to teach Sophie or get an assistant.

I have seen instructions for how to make a boxy shoulder in vintage knitting patterns and (more helpfully, with diagrams) in modernised vintage knitting patterns. I have uploaded a screenshot here at pinterest: https://pin.it/H9f0QQ4kJ The negative space in the right angles would make up the inside of the darts or tucks in a woven fabric.

Take this with a grain of salt but the battery thing is VERY weird. All of them not cooperating at once is unusual unless you think they might’ve been damaged during your move. Otherwise you might want or consider external causes attached to your new home…and ask them to stop or play with the cats instead. lol

Striped, herringbone, floral, and flocked! This fabric is so fun and pretty!

I really love this one!!! I'm still afraid of sleeves but I'm going to have to get over that pretty soon.

I do like this dress. The sleeves are lovely, and give a wonderful shape I feel. The neckline detail is brilliant too.

The lighting at your work station is very good, great work! Also, as you seem to enjoy Japanese art, I thought I would share a link to an upcoming webinar. I quite enjoy the series and this one is about art and advertising design in modern Japan. Hope you are doing ok in this crazy world. https://gps-ucsd.zohobackstage.com/TheFineArtofPersuasionCorporateAdvertisingDesigninModernJapan#/?lang=en

Lovely fabric. Also love how before moving it was all 'the cats need their own room because sewing is dangerous' and now it's 'interns' and pin counting. My cat just shouts at me to stop sewing, he is not a sympathetic manager

I love the detail of the center front cut on the bias.

Love the late 30s/40s! Beautiful dress & the house will be so lovely, all in good time. No need to rush through… this is something I for one am savoring!

I'm always wowed when you figure out how to recreate a pattern from just the pattern illustrations. Wonderful piece, as always, and maybe some hung fabric backdrops would serve to soften the white, at least to relieve some of the stress on you getting the whole house painted to your exacting standards?

The kitty content is so fun! Are there any cats remaining in Colorado, or were all the cats yours?

A tip for your closet and other wall/plaster repairs- a damp sponge over dry joint compound does a much better job of making things disappear without the dust of sanding.

Fantastic dress! I love that length on you and the fabric is stunning.

I love how the dress turned out! Great vibe, and the biased stripes are such an elegant touch

The flocked fabric is fabulous and I do see the stripes on the bias of the centre front panel. Very nice!

It turned out fantastic! I really like the contrast of the flocking on the base fabric, and you're absolutely right that the fabric choice takes it from sweet to elegant. I'm also happy to see you wearing that red sequined piece -- it would be sad to leave it in the closet.

Stunning. It's a beautiful dress and fits you like a glove, as usual! Thank you so much for teaching me pattern drafting so my garments can fit me so well as well. On another note, do you have a new po box? I have a couple of beautifully funky 40's hats I'd like to send you. My head is too big for them.
