A virtual housewarming for you, Lady B, would be lovely and something I would wholeheartedly contribute to. Your mind and ideas never cease to amaze me. Watching your house come together is an ongoing treat.

Love the idea of the drafting sessions - could you please include Bardot/off the shoulder? I’m also loving the kitty cameos in your videos, particularly the Ollie supervision! And 100% agree on mini eggs!

T
The Closet Historian · April 30, 2025

The mini egg season ending is a big bummer for me 😩❤️

I think I bought that exact same purple velvet to redo a couple of pieces in my place. Hilarious, since watching your process is the reason I'm making my space fit my personality more (finally). Very excited for both the further renovations/decorating and sewing plans, and I'm glad you're taking some kind of break to look after your physical health. It's not easy, especially when we're our own worst critics/managers, but none of us want you hurt for the sake of "content"

T
The Closet Historian · April 30, 2025

Thank you ❤️ I'm not excited to have to figure out how to make a slip cover 😂

Awesome to hear you sounding a little more relaxed. It's all looking amazing and I'm excited for anything you release ❤️

OMG yes, Cadbury mini-eggs are AMAZING. I admit I am a chocolate snob, but there is something about them that their other candies do not have. I also like the idea above about a virtual housewarming. I'm in @Anita Herbert

I 23rd the request for a registry! Happy to hear you're getting back to yourself as you unpack.

I love what your sewing parlor looks like, but the footage is so dark I really struggled to see what you were doing. I really enjoy interesting necklines, and seeing you modify patterns for adding details. It might be fun to see you pattern draft some boiler suits, or overalls for your home reno work wear needs. Also for those of us also in the endless home reno land, it would be nice to see how to make our own that actually fit us. Also, have you considered writing the book anyway and launching it via Kickstarter or your Patreon and self publishing?

T
The Closet Historian · April 30, 2025

Unfortunately I am not actually /that/ interested in writing a pattern drafting book. I think it's something best explained in video (or in person). I could have done it, but it feel much more natural to me to make a video series instead anyway. A book like that never really makes back the money per hour invested into it anyhow, so as a business decision, what I wanted was a foot in the door with traditional publishing, not that particular book deal ✨

I am looking forward to the drafting videos. I have completed my block and drafted some fairly simple 30/40s styles. We have the same shape so that is helpful to me. I don’t care what colour you sew in as I can do the same draft in whatever I like. I don’t go to fancy places so most of my stuff is day wear. Also I put pockets in Everything! Mostly for my phone. That doesn’t keep me from carrying a nice bag. I have vintage ones that dont hold phones, only a key and id along with a lipstick.

Would you please show how to draft a pattern for a 1960s drop waist dress? 1920s and 1960s works for my rectangular body shape and I need help.

Window seat for the cats sounds fantastic, I'm sure they will think it's the purffect place to supervise their human. As for black clothing...my closet is also full of black/dark clothing, so it's great to find a sewist who not only sews my color scheme, but also my body shape. I will (and have been) watching all your black and dark fabric sewing project videos and won't be stopping any time soon. The drafting series sounds awesomesauce, I am so there.

Thank you Keren!

ALL of the above sounds well worth waiting for! And the drafting ✨ - this will be amazing! I am hoping to finally have time later this year to start properly sewing for myself. So …very much Yes Please! (altho I have already used many of your older videos, part of why I am here, in thanks & now just addicted!)

T
The Closet Historian · April 30, 2025

Thank you Lynne!

A box for the serger is probably the best way to conceal it. The type of plastic it's made from doesn't take paint well. Unless you sand it to help the paint key in the paint will flake off in large patches as the surface is too smooth, and sanding will make it look terrible unless you can get the spray paint very smooth.

T
The Closet Historian · April 30, 2025

Yeah it's just not an attractive machine 🤣 Someone needs to make a cast iron version for us antique loving folks!

Love a black dress! I think especially with your colored lighting, it shows up just fine🖤 My painter husband says Benjamin Moore is usually pretty good paint, but any paint takes a surprising amount of time to fully cure (like a couple weeks even!) so that could be why it isn’t wearing as well as the burgundy. Obviously hard to wait that long when you’ve been working so hard! I’m amazed at how much you’ve accomplished-it looks an absolute dream! I’m soooo excited for more basic drafting content! I mean I love anything you do, but I think I’m ready to tackle some new skills.

T
The Closet Historian · April 30, 2025

Thank you!! I just need a few more supplies before I can get on with the drafting series ✨

really hope you do a video for the slip cover. I've been needing and dreading to make one and would love to see your approach

I will even if only for comedic effect 🤣

I'm SO EXCITED for the things you have coming up! First, yes, omg more black dresses. I'm also a lover of black (sometimes a dep red or green if I'm feeling zesty), so I love seeing more black projects. Also, OMG pattern drafting?! I'm currently in the middle-ish of the many mockups needed to make my block, using your older videos and the textbook you reference. I managed to find it for a decent price, which was lucky. But, I'm the hell of "what does this wrinkle mean?!" so more videos sound great, even if it's not exactly about where I am in the process. The idea of drafting a style sounds rad! I'm also brand new to historical costuming and just got a 1890s corset, but like you said, long hems plus rain isn't great (I live in Seattle lol), so seeing your project sounds delightful Sorry if this seems like the Kermit flailing arms GIF, just very excited for what's to come! ^.^

Your studio is looking beautiful, bravo! Glad to hear you are taking a break from the scaffold work, RSIs are not your friend. Too bad that you dont have a set anymore; are you using your lovely staircase and foyer for your glamour shots, it looks like a perfect catwalk? Please give us a link to a registry or for building supply gift card, so we can give you a virtual housewarming!

T
The Closet Historian · April 30, 2025

Alas the staircase has some of the saddest peeling wallpaper and unfortunate paint in the whole house, so...no glam shots in there yet!
