Dispatch no. 56 - Updates Podcast
Yes the image is of one of the aforementioned accent tables, it looks a little bit like a crab or something, and I love her.
The one where we are cleared to close ❤️

It seems you feel that because you have a sewing channel you should still put out sewing content ...but I am here to tell you that this is the time when all I care about is the life change that you are going through. You have my permission to just do the move. That is why Patreon is so important: we can support you throughout the whole of your human experience not just your work. I am very excited to just hear about the journey you have embarked upon, see some vlogs, maybe. If you have the wherewithal to see some curtains or something directly related to a need for the house in order to be settled...sure ...but mostly it's a good time to just focus on getting settled. Thank you so much for sharing what you have so far ...I am laughing, crying, shocked and excited along with you! 🤩🤩🥰🤩🥰
I'm late to the party, but congratulations! I'm glad you have patreon archive videos you can use to keep the channel going while you're moving. Looking forward to all the great things that are coming once you get settled.
If you put out nothing but podcasts of you griping & venting, that will be fine. Only telling/showing us what you can is fine. None of us is expecting ANYTHING from you right now except focusing on packing & moving & keeping yourself safe & your privacy private. All the best, Lady B.
I'm so excited for you!! I would love decor and tour videos. Also, if you are confident you won't change your mind on the paint colors and wallpaper, splash the cash and get the best; future you will appreciate not needing to update the paint in 5 years or less. Also, keep in mind where the sun hits for the most time each day-- sun-bleached walls are annoying :D
When I saw that NY had stayed blue I was relieved that you weren't moving to a red state! Solidarity with having to do silly things with documents to jump through hoops before -- once I had to send a bank statement as some kind of proof of something, and they would only accept scanned-in physical bank statements; they specifically said they didn't accept digital/online bank statements... but I switched to getting my bank statements online-only years before, and it would take like a week to get the bank to send me a one-off physical one. I ended up printing out my digital bank statement and then scanning that in, and that was apparently acceptable *eyeroll*.
If you want some YouTube inspiration try @ArielBissett , she's been doing a series on renovating her house for the last few years. She's made a few videos on room planning which are very interesting.
Yes, she is very fun and has been slowly working her way through renovations on her old house .
CONGRATULATIONS🎉🎉🎉🎊🎊🎊 you did it!
I’m so excited for you!!! I know the move itself will be stressful, having also moved cross country with a cat of my own, but it will be so worth it and I’m glad that you are free of the stress of escrow, which is the worst part and it will all be nicely downhill from there. I would *love* to see as much of your new home as you desire to share, even if it’s just moodboards, and I fully understand your desire for privacy and a lack of creepers.
I second this motion!! Mood boards or Pinterest boards would be amazing!!! You deserve this you’ve worked so hard!!
Congratulations 🍾🎉🎈 I’m so excited for you. Girl, any planning video would be great. Even just doing a blog style video would be great too.
Congratulations!!! A bit late I know. But this is such exciting news and you survived! Again, I will be excited to see anything you are willing and feel good showing us.
Hi, Congratulations! I'm so happy for you. I have just now caught up with events. I've tried to listen at "bedtime" the last few days, as I usually can't sleep. I'm sorry to say that I fell asleep on you the last three days, so now you've been my company for breakfast. It was very pleasant company indeed. I'm so looking forward to seeing your new house, as much as you feel you can share. Against the creeps the best defence I can think of, except for the high speck security system, would be to add either a large dog (not a retriever though, they'll let anyone in that's bearing food), maybe a docile Great Dane-like one very large with a deep voice, or a small yappy one, like a small terrier. They would of course be rescued/adopted. I realize that you are a cat person, but they aren't as much of a deterrent as a dog can be. Hopefully you won't feel the need, so just saying. Who knew that finding seating would be difficult, but you can get as many occasional tables as you would ever dream of. That was kind of unexpected. That little one in the picture is very cute by the way. I've never been to an antiques mall, so this is new to me. I don't even know if we have them around here. My personal taste says that mid century modern furniture is very nice too, but it would be a bit of a juxtaposition with a late victorian house, for sure. I would love seeing any vlogging from these antiques malls very much. You know by now that whatever you want to show, I'm here for it. What we do have around, here on the other hand, is radon. In the 70's people made building material containing radon, before anyone know of the dangers, and in many places we have it in the ground where it leaks into the house and gets trapped. Around here getting the radon out seems to cost about $ 7,000, after a quick look. Radon radiates, I can't remember if it's alpha or beta rays, but the way you get sick from it is lung cancer, in the long run, so that would indicate beta rays. Alpha rays being too heavy to be inhaled, if I remember my high school physics right. You can get rid of some by ventilation so open windows to air the rooms out frequently can help a little, until you can have someone come in and sanitize the house for you. We've had, and have dealt with, this problem for a long time now, so I'd be happy to see what our best practices are saying, if you'd want to. I thought that the blue patterning table of doom would come with you as a cutting table. I will miss it, I think. At least I'll miss the "As always we'll start over at the patterning table of doom" phrase in all your sewing videos. Likely you'll come up with something equally iconic in your new home, but until then I'll miss it. With that I think that I should save some words for the next person, so I'll round of here. Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and A Happy New year, in case we don't hear from you before that. I am as always Yours, Ann
So very happy for you!!! My lil millennial heart has been living vicariously through your journey. I
I am so incredibly excited for you, and I would love to see your design plans! Maybe for the extra Patreon video you could do a live stream, or something like that where you won't have hours of editing to do on top of the project...Just a thought. Can't wait to see your new house!!!
Thank you for Sharing! Design Videos would be appreciated 💛 best, Judith
please share arcane thoughts in next update! would love to see some WIP/project planning videos.
Im so glad for you that it all came together. I am a Capital Region person as well and it will be great fun knowing one of my fav creators lives right here. Best of luck with the move… it’s always stressful, but I hope it goes well.
Phew! I am so relieved and happy for you! A big YES to decorating/planning content. About the loan from your parents. First, no judgement, because my husband and I did the same thing when we bought our home. However, you might want to look into the tax implications of the “gift.” *Hypothetically,* our tax guy would have advised us to give the mortgage-y people the paperwork stating it was a gift, but provide the IRS with paperwork stating it was a loan. *Hypothetically,* this would have saved us money on our taxes that year. Maybe just tuck that away into the back of your brain to worry about at a later date. Please try to take care of yourself. I know it’s easy to say, but just a little trash tv and kitty snuggles will go a long way. We are all here rooting for you. ❤️
Also! There’s a company called Tonester Paint that has the most fabulous, luxurious, deeply saturated paint colors. Probably pricey, but again, samples are usually free. tonesterpaints.com
I'm so excited for you!!! We're so proud of you and I'd happily take packing videos and unpacking videos and swatch videos (ala cataloging catalogues) and short videos and thrifting videos and all the easy for you content I/we can get!! Plus, how cool you're a "community made person" - community over 'self-made' any day! YOU did THIS and we're all happy to see the fruits of that labor 😊
Not knowing is the worst! So glad you can move on.
So happy for you! Looking forward to The Closet Home Decorator
I teared up listening to this. So happy for you!!
What does ?escrow mean please? Great news though.
F&B lovely paint, I have used, and Little Green too. I prefer Little and green. You can get the base colours of the posh/expensive paints mixed into TRADE paint, as opposed to buying cheap paint, and it will cover beautifully, and withstand stuff. Also easy cleanable - I think called 'Intelligent matt' from Little Green, but the trade base is very important. Best of luck, and so exciting for you.
So happy for you!
I'm so excited for the home reno/decor/unpacking videos. Will you get a cabinet for your 99 for your studio? I have a singer 201 and thought I couldn't fit a cabinet in my sewing room but got one in the end and am so happy with it. I had real trouble getting F&B paint to work, and I got it thinking I was investing in more expensive and therefore better quality paint for my house. I'm in the UK and many tradespeople here recommend getting colour matches to F&B shades (and other similar brands like Little Greene) on trade brands.
Yes, this is how I do it. I'm in UK too.
Definitely interested in the home videos... We are all really happy for you!
A huge congratulations and I also thought about Shannon Makes and her video’s And please don’t think too much about us.
Congratulations on the final approval! I am very happy for you that everything finally turned out fine! Also, I'm very excited to see how you'll decorate your new house. Btw, if Jeff Bezos counts as selfmade, then you are definitely selfmade, too! You are self-employed, so you not only do the creating things part yourself, but also everything else around your business and then we technically buy your product, because we love it. That's how it works, right? Sure, living with your parents for free to save money on the house and them being able to borrow you money for it is a huge privilege, but I think we all know how deeply grateful and aware you are of that and how hard you work to earn it.
Ariel from Hazariel Atelier has a video about removing wallpaper (link below). No clue if it would work for your wallpaper though 🤷♀️ https://youtu.be/W2MN8jAFSL8?si=GBnkSxyJuu5wg7Mg&t=190
1. Technically you can seat on accent tables 🤫 2. Borrowing from parents is nothing to be ashamed for. It’s 5k out of how much? Over 250k? Girl, you are doing it mostly on your own! Plus, having an opportunity to borrow without interest is great in this economy. 3. Doesn’t Patreon payments come from like a Patreon-owned account? They can see that this deposit comes from a company? In this case all of this confusion doesn’t make sense. Also several months of transfers from the same company every month should make obvious that another transfer will probably arrive. Even of they don’t get that business model 🙄 4. I thought that this whole mortgage process was problematic in Poland, but clearly US is no better in that matter. It does make me feel a bit better 😅 5. I moved to the house in the middle of renovation. The serious kind, with remaking the roof and new floors and all that jazz. I got to install kitchen furniture after 11 months. Believe me it’ll surprise you how much you can endure just because it’s your own place and getting it just right it’s worth the wait. I am so so so happy for you ❤️ Can’t wait for some interior planning videos. I need some good energy to move on on my own home decor… Finishing proces has been abandoned for over a year 🫣
Also - good quality paint is worth it. Seriously. I had to repaint two rooms because cheaper one didn’t cover the walls properly. Not old paint, freshly done walls. So I paid extra (and had to spend time on actually painting it twice) for being cheap in the first place…
I am so immensely proud of you. This is a huge achievement.
I'd like to see your decor planning; Shannon Makes did one recently (she's renovating a Victorian in Nova Scotia), even though it'll be years before she can get to that room, and it was fun to watch. Don't fret too much about privilege; any critics would also take advantage of it if they could.
Another antique fair to put in the calendar — Madison-Bouckville in August! Let the good times roll, Bianca. Congratulations.
Yeah! I would be happy with an "unpack the fabric stash" video in lieu of a pattern drafting/sewing video. Also, I would love seeing your home decorating ideas come to life.
Btw, don’t buy the wallpaper steamer. Most home repair type places rent those for quite cheap
Congratulations on the final closing date.
Just in case you haven't thought of it, I have advice about moving with cats. As someone who has moved cats across the country, I just want to make sure you talk to a vet about anxiety/sedative medication to help with the move. My poor kitty chipped a canine due to chewing on the cat carrier door because she was so anxious during the long car ride.
Also, totally here for decor videos !
Wahooo!!! <3 So so so excited :D
Congratulations! Another person out here very, very happy for you! I will also merrily watch/listen/read anything at all you post. Felicitations!
Congratulations!!! So happy for you!!!
I'm so excited for you!! I would be SO DOWN for home decor stuff, I love it. So many internet home decor is so "tasteful" and "minimal" and "BORING."
Congratulations! So excited to see what you do with the place. I have many very similar tables dotted around my house. Also as someone who has bought cheap paint and regretted it. Get at least midrange paint otherwise you’ll waste more time and paint that you’ll come out cost neutral anyway.
Congratulations! I am so excited for you, Bianca! May your move be easy and uneventful and may your new home be everything you dream of!❤️
"Emotional support tea cup."❤️ I may not sew or be into decorating my place, but I love your content, especially the podcasts and I am very happy for you and your news about being cleared to close on the house!! Time for the rental car company to get that minivan ready again!😅 What a ride you've been on! I have my 5'10" grand piano in my so-called dining room, so I hear you on turning your parlour into a sewing room. Your accent table reminds me of the piano stool I sat on for many years at lessons. Wishing you a smooth move and many memories made along the way, with your loving family. Have a perogie for me, I'm sure there are lots in upstate NY!✨🥔
Take whatever time you need. I’m sure everyone knows how hard moving is especially when you need to pack everything! Would much rather have you be yourself than to have a stressed version of you. I personally like you for who you are, the videos are an added bonus! I’m just very happy for you! Yay!!!!!!!
Huzzah! So pleased for you! I'd love to contribute to a mantle fund to help you get a fabulous one, since I expect we will be seeing it a lot in future videos. Yes to tours, design plans, a video about trying out your singer's attachments would be fun. Oh, kitties!! Yes to kitties! And paint...check out Tea with Florence, from claydon House Chinese Room https://www.littlegreene.us/tea-with-florence
Thank goodness! I'm so happy they finally approve-approved you. You absolutely deserve this next step in your life! LOL! "Your brain on escrow" was hilarious! We drove our two cats from Atlanta to Corpus Christi TX and they were fine until we had to leave the car. We put a blanket and a large Tupperware/litter box in the back of our SUV and it was a play area for them for the drive. We only put them in the carriers when we needed to leave the car. We used leashes to give them some walking around time when we stopped for lunch, etc. They were happy to get to our new home, but they did just fine on the drive. Hope your as lucky with the trip as we were.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! 🖤 also, i’m in new england and there are places to find semi cheap architectural salvage etc., let me know if you want me to send you any specific places! for now i’ll just leave you with ReStore, EcoBuilding Bargains (you can shop online at this one) and always check AuctionNinja.com for estate sales :-)
Speaking of paint colors, a mid-range option you might want to look at is Sherwin-Williams' Historic Colors Collection. I have my living room painted a shade (Alexandrite🦚) from the Jazz Age section and it is spectacular🤌
I would loveeeeee to see some design and home decor videos or posts or whatever you are capable of. Honestly, It's going to be a little vicarious for me as I have a little 1950s ranch and not a Victorian cottage. I love my mid-century styled home, but something about Victorian Gothic furnishings just hits different.
Congrats Bianca!!! This is so exciting!!! And I can't speak for everyone obviously, but you can take as much time as you need to get your move moved.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Congratulations Bianca!!! What a dream for you! I would love a home-design-inspo video, while sewing will be off the (drafting) table. It would be fun if it's like a more laid back style going through the pinterest boards you have for the rooms, talking through your thought processes n stuff. Also i don't want to speak for everyone, but personally i have no issue with rewatching the archive videos - your projects are so fun and engaging that I can watch them over and over and I don't get bored! In any case, if you wanted to do some kinda like. Low key Q&A for patreon to give you a bit extra time i'm sure that would be lovely anyways!! Truly I would watch and love anything you can manage. I hope the moving goes well, please take care <3 and try not to overstretch yourself! :)
Yay!!! Congratulations!🎉🎊🍾 we will watch ANYthing you choose to post … that’s why we ‘hired’ you … lol!!!
Yay! Congrats! And best of luck for the upcoming month. Also, video idea- how you pack your vintage! Might even bring in some new folks to this corner. And for home improvement video ideas, I have been enjoying The Stichery as she had been doing her house.
Amazing!!! Congratulations!!! Would you consider doing a fabric stash unpacking video?? I love seeing other people’s fabric stashes! As a first home owner the Trans Handy Ma’am’s book (even though targeted to renters) is so good for how to take care of simple home repairs - and it links to how to videos in case you have no clue what she’s talking about!
Congratulations on finally getting to closing for your home. For your electric, stick with National Grid. There are a lot of electric companies out here and they are ruthless and fib A LOT. The good thing is the water bill is going to be lots cheaper than out west. Don't forget to get garbage cans and maybe something to keep them in as there are critters out here that will eat the lids of the garbage cans.
P.S. Verizon is the best interwebs out here so far. Spectrum is the only other internet and it's not as good. I hope I'm helping with these comments. It was such a reality check being out here in upstate New York after being in Arizona most of my life. I am hoping you have an uneventful move. I totally understand how stressful it is.
Bianca my friend…this is the most wonderful piece of news…all the positive juju has paid off…you are absolutely deserving of this home, your hard work has made this a reality…flipping blooming awesome…🕸️🕸️🕸️🦋🦋🦋🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈🐈🐈🤓🤓🤓🫖🫖🫖🐞🐞🐞🌼🌼🌼
So exciting!! I would love to see mood board, house tours decorating, flea marketing, etc stuff. All of it. I am so flipping happy for you. Part of the reason I started even becoming a Patreon patron for you is because of our shared dream to own a Victorian house someday. I wanted to help in my tiny, tiny, tiny way make that true for you. My locale that I am trapped in for at least 6 more years makes that dream practically impossible to afford yet, but the dream holds. When I can relocate. So carry on and inspire us all with your beautiful art, in all its forms. It helps emotionally sustain us in our stress and worries of life. I wish I could get you a house warming gift! No idea what you need/want though. Besides a mantle and fancy paint. ☺️
I think most people join patreon because they like a person enough to support them, not just for the content, so whatever works for you will likely work for us. I have found that sewing and crafting videos have been a gateway subject into DIY and renovation and now I’m weirdly invested in the transformation of a bunch of strangers’ houses so I’m looking forward to seeing as much of your new old house as you feel comfortable showing. I can’t afford to buy my own home so I’m living vicariously and thankful not to have the stress.
Finally! Your own place 🥳🥳🥳 I am looking forward to the decorating and such 😘
This is fantastic news. I'm so happy for you, but, feel for you in the red tape Vs overcooked spaghetti brain trying to wrangle everything situation you've been in. Very much looking forward to any house renovations & decor uploads you share too, I'm a little obsessed by Shannon Makes journey through her Victorian home renovation, plus, I reeeeeeally want to overhaul my home & completely change pretty much every room! (Can I afford it? No. Do I have the energy? Absolutely not. Will either of those hang ups stop me? Nope! I'm like a lil' decor inspiration hoover at the moment & my Milanote boards are growing day by day! So, so happy for you ☺️
So happy for you!!! 🤗
I'm so happy for you! As a fellow millennial about six months ahead of your current point, I know how stressful and unreal it all is. It's so amazing when you finally get to pull down the hideous wallpapers, and start putting your own stamp on things. I'm currently doing my bedroom, and recently got an antique wardrobe set for an absolute steal. I hope the move isn't too crazy, and can't wait to see all the decorating. We all know it's going to be fabulous.
Yay!!! So proud and excited to be a tiny part of helping you make your dream happen!! Looking forward to all the new content, but please remember to take care of yourself! 💜
Congratulations!!! It was a long road towards your dream and you've made it happen! In the Netherlands financial help from parents to close on a house is expected and often required, therefore it's tax free. There's no shame in using generational wealth the way it's meant to be used. Can't wait for the house tour, watch out Christine McConnell!!!!
Congratulations!! I would love drafting videos, videos of unpacking boxes of fabric, how to draw the fashion figures, antiquing videos, anything design or decorating. Happy moving!
YAY! Congrats!! Regarding safety: It's definitely a good idea to tell little lies about the outside and the surrounding area, if you haven't been already. Lie about the colour of the doors and the location of the garage and the species and number of trees in the yard! Lie about how far away local businesses are and what distance they are from each other!
Yay! Congrats! Can't wait for the house tour, and also, yes, Arcane IS the media event of the year.💙
Congratulations on getting closer to your house! Regarding your parents gift to help with closing costs etc. think of it as an advance on a future inheritance. We all need a little help now and then. I'm sure people helped your parents and you can pay it forward in the future. Can't wait to see how you decorate your house! Have fun! It will all be worth it!
Congratulations! I’d be interested in anything you want to show about settling into the new house, so please do whatever’s best for your stress levels!
Congrats, Bianca!! I'm so happy for you!! 😀 Tonester Paints is a small business paint company that makes absolutely drool-worthy jewel tones - might be something to check out??
Yay! Well done for your new house! Yes, any house related content, be it designing or tours, whatever. If you're concerned about your stuff being in a van in a random carpark, hire a horse trailer instead, as they have a sleeping area, so you can, as you wish, sleep in the van 😉 Once you have closed and your keys are in your hand, you can change your insurance etc. My parents helped me out when I bought my litle house, you're right,it is common. Moving cats isn't so bad, make sure their crate has something in it that smells of you and them - can you sacrifice a duvet cover? I look forward to watching the progress 😊
Yayy!!! Congrats Bianca! So happy for you! Would love to see home projects and tours and design inspiration:) whatever you want to share, I always love your style🖤
“Not a lot of creepers on here”???!!! Am I not creepy enough??? /s Also, muppet flail! Yay, cleared to close! I literally just drove cats and stuff from Colorado to southern Mexico. And wow, do these cats not travel well. I’m sure you already have a plan, but a friend suggested a litter box for the cats to camp in. And wow, litter box that smells like them was like 90% more effective than catnip and calming voice. They curled up inside it and just poked their heads up over the edge to watch out the windows.
So excited for you.
RE: Home Insurance - same thing happened when we bought our house. The property taxes came in a month early and were higher so the underwriter wanted us to reduce our home insurance costs to balance it. We did, we closed, 2 months later we set the insurance policies back where they were with no issues. And congrats!!!! Escrow is the worst but you survived it! Whenever you get around to new sewing videos is fine, take your time and enjoy settling into your home! I would love to see a video at some point about how you decide how to organize your new sewing studio since it's a blank slate. Will you keep the same basic layout you currently have? Something totally different? My current sewing space is chaotic and inefficient so I love seeing how other people set up their rooms to get ideas. Congrats again!
Saving the recoding for tomorrow, but sending you a happy congratulations to you now - I hope you have a chance to let this amazing experience sink in.
Congratulations on moving to the next step in the process! Yes please to any house tour/design/home craft videos (whatever you feel comfortable sharing) 😊Good luck with the move ❤️🥰
You should be so proud, you navigated one of the most stressful logistical things. And it’s great that you have family to help. I am one of those people who didn’t, and I don’t grudge you not having to do the same at all. I’d love planning/moodboard videos, for the house and for clothes, if you’re ever interested in that. I painted my whole house in Benjamin Moore color matched to farrow and ball swatches, and it worked great, highly recommended.
I'm so excited for you!!! Also, I would love the home project preview videos you're suggesting! (Also, as a video idea, I would love "sketch with me" style videos where you show how you do your croquis designs for your sewing projects.)
Only share what is safe to share. Everyone will support that. Can't wait to see the new sewing room!!!
Enjoy this exciting, but stressful time!
Yes to room design videos please! So happy things are moving forward for you. Exciting!
Listen, I'm glad SOMEONE out there has family support. That's great! I am happy for you.
