I think the mortgage underwriters are just in training to work for the US immigration services. They literally tell you that you are rejected while you are still in processing and actually at the very end of it and probably going to get the card but they torture you first.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed you find a solution and please don't stress about the videos. We have so much invaluable videos already. We aren't going anywhere 😃

During escrow, on like the second to last day of it, somebody wanted a profit lost statement from us. So the hubbie burned through a year of statements and got it to them that night. Every hoop they can get you to jump through they will get you to go through it. I have no idea why the home buying process is made to be so stressful, but good or ill you will get through it. We are sending the vibes, the good energy, the Eldridge God sacrifices, totally crossing toes for your good fortune!

You have a team on your side: real estate agent, mortgage broker and closing attorney. They will do whatever they can to help you. Your agent can be a great source of guidance and reassurance. Brokers can actually be your advocate once you build a rapport with them. The attorney tracks what is needed to close and can keep the mortage company on their toes...and you on your toes. Deep breath again. Think of the keys at the end of the obstacle course.

that sounds like a headache and a half-- i'm sorry that you have to deal with this mess. self-employment / freelancing are not new concepts -- i'm mystified that there is not a better system in place (or even concrete advice from your bank) to help you navigate this.

Oh dear! I googled freelancer and mortgage. What I turned up is from Canada, but it probably applies to you. Tax records for the last several years as evidence that you are earning money consistently. Gross income - any tax deductions that you take for your business expenses to prove your income. If you have a business registration if any money is earned under a business name, that would help too. They want to establish you have a legit source of income. But you may have already provided all that. Hugs and good luck!

Ugh, that's gotta be so frustrating and emotionally exhausting. It truly is too bad that content creators (on any social media platform) aren't seen as having a "real job", when in fact, times have changed and it IS a real job. Ugh... jesus. I had been in the same salaried position for 10 years and the underwriters were still a pain in the ass when I bought our condo. Hoping they get a f'ing clue that its the 21st century and accountants of all types (spicy, medium, and mild) are going to be going through this process.

I am pressing both my thumbs for you, which is the German equivalent of crossing your fingers. You got this!

You can do it! I know you'll be able to find a way! I just hope that way will be found before many more tears fall. I also wanted to tell you again to not feel bad. I know it won’t really change that little thing in yourself telling you that maybe you let us down but you haven't. This is a big thing you're doing, absolutely massive, and such and exciting step, I have missed deadlines for less, that's life. Just breath, push through this and when all is settled and you're comfortable in your gorgeous new home surrounded by adorable fur babies you will see missing a few videos wasn't only not bad but also necessary to not burn out making it impossible to work for even longer (that's where I am at now and let me tell you, not fun. So please please please take care of yourself, be kind to yourself and give yourself some grace because you deserve it, you're working your butt off 24/7 but you are only human and can only do what's humanely possible and sometimes that's less than you hoped for.)

I got a mortgage with a 9-5 job and it was a special hell; my down payment literally DISAPPEARED into digital nothingness due to a bank error in wiring and I nearly lost my chance to buy. I have so much empathy for you. It’s a hideously opaque process in every possible way. Sending good thoughts and hope.
