Making A Mid-1890's Inspired Shirt Style
Increase the size of sleeves as needed ✨ I made mine woefully modern in comparison here by not ballooning them further, oops

I'm glad you didn't get caught in all the traffic and tons of people at the NY Sheep and wool festival in Rhinebeck. But it is nice to know you will be close to it if you want to go next year. Another great video!
I'm finishing making this blouse - or something between this and the other - in black batist. Your instructions plus the video were clear and helpful as alway! As I have naturally wide shoulders and a short waist I'll make it longer and add a drawstring so I can wear it over some jeans as well. For now I'll combine it with a black walking skirt, a black veil and some arsenic green buttons for Halloween. I just need to take off the sleeves again, shorten my shoulders and put them back on - it looks ridiculous right now... I had planned to do this, based on earlier experience but did I remember last night? Of course not.
Hi, I'm sorry that I only have gotten to see this tonight. Such a fabulous blouse/shirtwaist. I missed a couple of things you said about it because I couldn't keep up in English. One of the things you said was something about starching. You said that you didn't do it because you had lived without it before so you wouldn't start now or something like that. No criticism from me about that. It did trigger my curiosity though, and maybe you know the answer or maybe you don't, but we'll never know unless I ask. Back in the day of the shirtwaists the men used starched collar and cuffs and they put those on with buttons at the back of the neck and at the sleeve. Did the ladies shirtwaist do have the same? The second thing was something about the waist, that I don't understand, but that would likely show itself if I just say yes please to the idea of another one next month. I hope that you got back home with a house in your pocket. Not literally of course, but I think what I mean is self explanatory by now. Talking about gardening. Outside our apartment the Co-Op have a large garden. It's almost a small park, that we own outright. Important when the city want to condense the plan and build on anything green that they can lay their hands on, otherwise useless information. It must have been yesterday when garden service we have were out there cutting the grass. The grass needed cutting but here too it should not only be fall but winter. The weather is wierd. I thought they were vacuuming up the fallen leaves, as most of them have come down. But No. Cutting grass and chopping the dry leaves to confetti. I guess it's mulch and fertilizer now. good for next spring I guess. Yours, Ann
As per....gonna copy this in black linen and use insert lace for the stripes....,you look fab in this shirt.
Thank you! That black combo does indeed sound divine ✨

Lovely. It should come back in fashion. Maybe, in your new hometown!
I'll do what I can ✨❤️
This really reminds me of a blouse my mom made me in the late 80's that I wore through the 90's (it was made wider at the bottom of the blouse as a maternity blouse but I wore it for 2 pregnancies and in between as well because it was so pretty!) It looks lovely on you and here's hoping your trip was successful!
Thank you Janet!
Yay, I hope you have the best, most affordably expensive news ever!
Thank you Jennifer!
Fingers and everything else that can be crossed in the hope that your trip was successful!
I love the blouse and the silk sounds delicious….on a very different question….i am curious about the piano track that is playing…do you have a link etc…I think that this would be something that would make my child happy to perform…as always I am crossing all available body parts in the hope of home purchasing in progress….🖤🖤🖤🖤🫖🫖🫖🫖🖤🖤🖤🖤🫖
Thank you Raelene! The music is all from Epidemic sound, which minute were you most interested in? I shall find the track name!
That blouse looks lovely on you. I love the front yoke/collar where the stripes make that pattern. You're really clever at thinking up these patterns, you put so much thought into them to make them come out so perfect. At 66 years old I still have a lot to learn, but with your tutoring I know I will get there. Thank you so much xx
Thank you Lesley! The stripes take a bit more time, but it's worth it!
I like this fabric, very quiet yet strong. Fingers crossed for you and your pumpkin patch!
Thank you Penny! I think my patch will be big enough for exactly 1 pumpkin 🤣
I've got everything crossed that very good reason is the very good reason we're hoping for & the happiest year end development for you 😃
I hope you are MIA for the BEST reason!!
lol, just tell people you remade the outfit in ‘99 when sleeves got smaller. ;P
Thank you for the button/ notions shop link. You are a much better than I am at finding these nice shops, and I am ALWAYS looking for nice buttons. That is actually the sticking point on a lot of my stuff. I hope your good reason is that you found an amazing place!!
It is very hard to find good buttons new! As a sewer it is indeed irritating!
